How about when you have a bit stuck on the chuck?

Yes my tool is useless right now

Skipped the unscrewing of the chuck as I did not have correct size screwdriver, so soaked it with WD40, left it for half an hour, then vice grips and a rag and a working drill again, cheers.

PUT THE DRILL IN REVERSE FIRST! Thank you for making this video. You saved me considerable time. I'd already spent several hours trying to get the chuck off of a Ryobi drill but after I put it in reverse it came right off.

Nice instruction video. In my case, I did not have to unscrew it to relax the chuck. My brand new one had the same issue. So, I was about to disassemble it after watching this video. But, I sprayed WD-40 inside the chuck before attempting unscrewing that tight bolt. Yes, it worked! Before you disassemble it, please try that. It’s much easier.

I tried the same, but it was still stuck. Then I did exactly as told in this video. And the problem was solved.

Clean brake fluid seems a bit more aggressive at getting crud out of the inside chuck parts and of course sitting it in an ultrasonic cleaner for a couple of hours helped !

Thank you for the video. I took out the screw but I could not get the chuck off. So I sprayed it with WD40 anyway. After a few minutes it freed up. I put the screw back in and it works great.

Thankyou! I removed the screw from the inside, ran the chuck forward and the teeth/jaws released. No WD40, no removing the chuck. Great stuff!

Upgraded from an older 18v kit. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxW1vOBRCMrgTCDEijzpVzDWsgI-Jm2iQv I independently chose the drill and impact tool, before I came across the kit.I like the 3 speed impact gun. It seems more powerful than my older one, and it can be set to be really gentle. The drill is more appropriately sized for my use. I used to have a hammer drill, but I did not like that it was so big and it was not a great hammer drill. I rather have a smaller drill like this, and then get a corded hammer drill for the odd case I need that.

Cool, worked for me too on a 240V mains powered version EID1102RG 1100Watter however, I had to first remove the large hex steel bit jammed in the 3 teeth which is softer than the chuck keys and the previous person who threw the set out assumed un-fixable as the softer steel had formed a recess the teeth bit into. So knowing the bit was softer, held it in a bench vice and pulled hard on the drill thus stripping the edges of the recess - the drill managed to get free of the bit and the screw is of course a right hand to loosen it came out easily, thanks :-)

Thanks m8, saved me big time. Mine was a little different, and I had a bit stuck in the chuck. Was ready to throw out the whole drill. Charged the battery full, sprayed mine up with WD40, used a pair of channel locks and put it in reverse. Broke free almost instantly.

*That worked for me thanks. The trick was the left hand thread on the screw. I wondered why I couldn't loosen it.*

Great video. For mine, it turned out that the screw in the chuck was already loose and causing the problem, so tightening it was all I needed to do, but I would have been screwing it the wrong way had I not watched this first. Many thanks!

My $40 Ryobi corded drill didn't have a screw in it. Looked like some kind of unserviceable metal fastener. Took off the case, didn't seem any easier to get at. Returned it just barely within its return period, got my money back.

What did it look like when you looked inside? My D43 Ryobi looks like there's a female Allen socket hole where the screw should be. I'm wondering if that's normal or if the screw on mine fell out.

Great video thanks. Fixed my chuck in a few minutes I was about to buy a new one after it got stuck after a big drill. I didn't bother removing chuck it seemed to hold the WD40. You way was better though good to know chuck is removable too.
    Thanks again.

Great Video. Thanks. I also was able to fix my ryobi by just removing the screw. Once I did that it no longer was stuck. Put screw back in, added little oil and it's good to go.

Mine is fairly new and stuck. Also had a battery fail ,Ryobi tools suck. Think I will switch to Milwaukee or Dewalt.

Thank you very much for this! My Ryobi doesn't have the screw so I couldn't remove the chuck, but I soaked it in lubricant and took my channel-locks to it and PRESTO! It is working again! Thanks so much for taking the time to share this trick. :)

I think you'll find that it does but it's a left hand thread (you have to turn the screw clockwise to undo it)

Second day I’ve had this drill. I used it for about 10 holes into drywall and it’s already stuck closed. So disappointed. I will try this, but it’s back to Home Depot it goes.

In my case the screw on the inside had come loose, so all I had to do was tighten it (lefty tighty as mentioned in the video) then it was fine :)

    WD40 is not a lubricant it's a water displacement

Right out of the box I can’t get mine to work, the chuck seems to be stuck and I can’t get a drill bit to stay in because I can’t open the damn thing. Never buying this brand again, I’ll just pay a handyman who has a working drill to come do the things I need done.

    • @simon9447
      @simon9447 3 ปีที่แล้ว

I was given this drill for a present... drill bits come loose all the time... the chuck is a joke on this otherwise good drill.
      Unfortunately, it's a pathetic product ...

No need to do all of that. Trust me. Just cover the chuck with a cloth. Grab it tight with the muti grip and turn it clockwise will get it unstuck straight away.
