Stop Motion Tutorial: Build a Set! Part Two

  • Interior stop motion set detailing and shooting is covered in this tutorial as I finish making a miniature kitchen. The principles and techniques apply to just about any structural set need, as part two explores methods for making props, decorating the set, and shooting scenes. This is low-budget filmmaking with suggested alternatives for even smaller budgets. But we also look at creativity and style to make the best of whatever materials we have on hand.
    Please see my other tutorials on how to make a puppet, Lego animation, cut-outs, lip sync, facial animation, and other stop motion subjects: • Stop Motion Tutorials
    Music by Mixaund: www.free-stock-music.com/artist.mixaund.html
    Just about everything I used to make the set featured in this video was purchased at Michael’s, an arts and craft store. Most of it can also be purchased on amazon. Some of the miniature props are doll toys available on eBay.

    Hi!
    I think your ideas and sets are awesome and I need some help! I'm making a kitchen set for my character who is doing a cooking show, but I can't figure out how to make sturdy oven grates. I tried making them out of cut wire and connecting them using epoxy putty, but they fell apart when I cut the excess wire off, I also tried baking strips of oven bake clay like femo, but they were not strong enough. Do you have any suggestions?

    • @MichaelParks
      @MichaelParks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a tough challenge, and I have been trying to think of something. I would look over the meshes and screen materials at a hardware store to see if something can be cut down to size. There could be toys that could work.

    wonder what size eyeballs they and if they're fully rounded or Half dome ??? anyone know please reply TY

    • @MichaelParks
      @MichaelParks  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know the size of the eyes, but they are doll eyes that were half dome, but had a back side added to make them round. Tiny holes were drilled in the whites of the eye to move them around. They were purchased and made in the '90's so I don't know the manufacturer, but if you research doll accessory sources you should be able to find something.

    How do you keep the walls stable but also movable?

    • @MichaelParks
      @MichaelParks  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I screw them down with drywall screws. Very stable and easy to remove.

    • @eriksmovies244
      @eriksmovies244 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MichaelParks do you just pull them out to remove? Or do you need a drill? Thanks for your response!

    • @MichaelParks
      @MichaelParks  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@eriksmovies244 You do need a drill. If you don't have a drill, wall sections could be held in place with hot glue, which would be strong enough to stay in place while shooting (as long as it isn't seriously bumped) but then able to be popped off with a good push.
