Good video. Online document processing websites are helpful to file forms quickly. However, it's what you don't know that could end up harming you in the long run.

You are totally right about that. We should be investing in understanding how tax laws impact our finances, even if we don't do our own taxes.

    Very good advice
    .
I will add in my experience that online services, in general, lack flexibility.
Whenever your case is or could be different than the great majority; try to keep it at the personal level.
Even doing things yourself might save you time and money and even your ability to stay in business when you have to deal with unique scenarios.
Never assume that everyone knows better than you because they run a business. Neither that you know better because you know something.

This was useful to know and kind of what I do. I want an attorney to look over a legal form required starting in 2024 and a local attorney's office didn't return my call, so I'm figuring this is something safe for Legal Zoom to do. Not always, but this time. Thank you for your advice!

I’m going through a tenant/landlord dispute but my apartments are tax credit which means they can’t just evict or terminate without good cause. I signed that form when I signed my lease…the legal shield lawyer did not even know this, she even told me “lease termination and eviction are two different things” 😂😂😂.
I’m calling Tommorow to get my money back

I'm sorry to hear that. Thankfully, you knew what you were talking about. It also helps if attorneys only answer questions about topics that they know. I've been in a few situations where I was definitely outside of my lane and had to backtrack real fast.

    STAY FAR AWAY FROM LEGALZOOM!
I called LegalZoom to purchase their "Trademark Package" for $599.00 on 11/08/2022. The very first step of the package included a phone call after payment on November 10th 2022 that LegalZoom set with me from 5:05 P.M. EST to 5:20 P.M. EST with Anna. I waited for hours and no phone call from LegalZoom per their scheduled time per their email. I called in at a later time that day to cancel my package because they literally did not follow through on their scheduled phone call which was the very first step of many in their "Trademark Package." So, I have been waiting on my refund (7-10 days) and nothing has posted to my credit card. Yesterday 11/30/2022 I get a phone call that lasted about 38 seconds from LegalZoom and I told the lady that I was waiting on my refund and she said that she was going to process it and the phone call ended. Today (12/01/2022) I called LegalZoom because there was again no refund on my Discover Card and LegalZoom told me that the call that I received yesterday on 11/30/2022 that lasted for 38 seconds was an attorney and therefore was considered a consultation and my $599.00 would not be refunded. I explained to LegalZoom that the phone call was NOT a consultation and they hung up on me. I called LegalZoom back and asked them to please provide me with my filing documentation and other documents that were supposed to be filed and a recording of the phone call and they could not provide either. LegalZoom literally charged me $599.00, did not follow their said said timeline, their said process and did not / has not provided me with anything at all. This is the largest fraud and/or scam I have ever seen. BUYER BEWARE! BUYER BEWARE!
LegalZoom has NO REFUND POLICY!! They will tell you that you can get a refund but their website does not / will mot address “Refunds” or “Refund Policy.”

What do you think about legal zoom for forming a LLC for a car rental business? Out of California

    • @SheliaAHuggins
      @SheliaAHuggins  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

It sorta depends on your overall goals. If you plan on expanding, bringing in investors or partners, etc. If it's just going to be you, you're probably ok with an LLC. This is just general info, and as a disclaimer I have to say that you should check with an attorney in California, and that this response doesn't constitute an attorney-client relationship. Ethics requirements limit what I can say in my response. But definitely consider reaching out to an attorney in California.

I CAN think of attorneys that I have paid multiple thousands for and walked away thinking "What did I pay for?". On the other hand, helping a friend navigate the published laws and doing our own research online helped "win" a divorce action. We smoked the multi millionaire spouse's two aggressive and threatening law firms, and got them to tap the mat. We only spent time and certified delivery fees. The satisfaction of seeing them get fired in frustration twice only to have to bend to our defense to avoid the inevitable decision we confidently knew would fall in our favour should we go before a judge was so satisfying, including using opposition attorney's own website against them to force production in discovery. So sometimes, NO you are not a fool being your own lawyer. It's not always the black box many people think it is. There is almost no case or dispute under the sun that has not been submitted to a court that you can't utilize to examine and scaffold you're own defense or complaint. Just keep the emotion out of your decisions, keep rational and dispassionate and learn to read accurately. Of course depending on your particulars and situation your mileage may vary.

Great Video. How do you find a lawyer when the particular case involves multiple issues? For example: Covid mandate. Employer is under 100 But using their personal beliefs to deny testing as an option for its employees. Also, religious EEOC exemption is a consideration and unemployment benefits is consideration. Also, OSHA violation consideration by giving potentially misleading information to its employees.
