- This video is of some raw footage I took at Kings Island in 1992. The video shows many things around the park but the main feature that you may enjoy is the full ride on Phantom Theater. I loved this ride and I loved this park. After this year the take over of Paramount shows with the loss of much of the parks magic. It was never the same after this year in my view. Many may feel the park is better but in my view it lost so much. I hope some day an owner will return it to its glory days with quality entertainment once again. Anyway I hope you enjoy this recording.
14:17 was my favorite part of this ride. You could actually feel the heat from the furnace. So cool! One of my favorite rides as a kid. Thanks for the upload!
5:16 sad to see Vortex after not being there anymore ☹️☹️
This video just showed up in my feed. I was actually at Kings Island just a couple weeks before this was filmed!
thank you
Thanks for posting..!!!!!
Fantastic video, Bill! So many great, raw shots of the park. And such a great ending with a complete ride on Phantom Theater, including a fully functional Maestro in the lobby. Thanks for posting!
I really miss the phantom theater.
Me too!
Thanks! I worked at Kings Island during my high school years in the 2000s and I love seeing old footage of the park. It changes so much from year to year. My first year there was the last year of Paramount, boy how I miss them. Hanna Barbara -> Nickelodeon -> Snoopy (Am I the only one who thinks that's a step backwards in terms of modern kid appeal?)
@TheFinalCountdownROX I thank you both for taking time to reply to this video and so glad you like it. If any of you are into other parks of this company of the time you will find a much more involved history of Kings Dominion on my sight. Its in 4 parts and include several on ride films I took years ago. Thanks again!
So glad you found it and that you enjoyed it. Thanks so much for letting me know!
Thank you so much for the full phantom theater ride! I can't find anything with the quality that's in this video! Thank you thank you thank you! The phantom theater scared me to death as a kid and looking back I can see why.
sure do miss those days.....loved Kings Island greatly. It's nice and modern now for the next generation, but the magic it used to have is simply no longer there...
Ah, the good old days! I never realized how much the Maestro sounds like Jafar from Aladdin.
Check out the lines for King Cobra and Adventure Express (which was just added the year before)! What is the big circular pad in front of AE with 3 cars on it?
That is where skylab was. They still had the concrete there in 92
I remember going there in 1992! I was 5 years old and that haunted ride scared the crap outta me. I liked it better as the Smurf ride.
More years have passed since this was recorded than from this to Kings Island's grand opening.
Is it bad if 1992 ride is better than 2019s
@spiderloac67 Since I did not live in the area, back in that day I mostly just enjoyed the shows and rides and did not do much recording. This is the only day I went into the park with a camera. You will find some shows like these from my Kings Dominion videos I have posted, Thanks for commenting!
Too many people complain about cedar fair running kings island, well let me tell you something. If it wasn't for cedar fair, kings island would be an abandon park. Paramount wAs running out of money and sooner or later they would of had to shut KI down. My point is , Cedar Fair saved KI.
I feel like Cedar Fair has returned some of the things that made pre Paramount KI great but not everything
@Sparrow3587 He does?? I don't hear the resemblance... Unless you're just saying how they both use similar language?
old ki was the best
Vortex is king
That line for King Cobra is HUGE. I loved that ride. It was worth waiting two hours for a two-minute ride. Can't believe this video is twenty years old. It looks great!
How do you feel about the changes Cedar fair has made to KI and KD?
