Thomas Peacock They are Irish dancers and this is a styled form of "Irish hand dancing". Basically what Irish dancers do to practice choreography and rhythm.
I remember my music teacher showing us this in 5th grade when it first came out. And now we're at the end of the decade and I'm a sophomore in college, 🤯 time flies!!!
When you learn traditional Irish dance, you are encouraged to memorize the moves in a dance with both your hands and your feet. This allows you to run through a dance quickly without expanding huge amounts of energy and be able to communicate issues and faults with an instructor. This is a brilliant adaptation of this system. I have no doubt that these dancers could do this just as easily with their feet as well.

There was a neighborhood bar that had this song (slightly different) on the Juke Box. My ex and I practiced and practiced the hand moves at home. When we got it down solid we went to the Bar but the song was removed from the Juke Box.
