It's the illusion of choice. When you had to meet someone at a bar or book club or bowling or church, you didn't have many options and people would happily pick a partner. Now girl's can go on a dating app and get 20 people expressing interest a day. It makes them feel like they are waaaaaaay higher value than they are.
Indeed the paradox of choice plays a big part, in the old days women would be restricted to the neighborhood guys but now with the internet the market is literally worldwide with some guys willing to fly girls out. Dating apps are a joke. I’ve been following Courtney’s channel for over a year and have been working my ass off on self-improving myself in every possible way: going to the gym 5x a week, Invisalign to straighten my teeth, bought an all new wardrobe, better grooming habits, becoming more financially stable etc. Downloaded Hinge about a month ago. First week was super successful. Got a ton of matches and went on dates with four different women. This past week however, I had dates set up with three more women and they ALL texted the day of to cancel with no offer to reschedule. Although I can’t know the real reason for sure, I feel like it doesn’t matter how good someone is, there will ALWAYS be someone better or more attractive who comes along and takes your place.
And that's why you stay off the apps. They're literally designed to suck money out average looking guys in order to get matches. These platforms are to make money not help people find actual relationships. Gotta go out in public to meet people. Trust me women are far far far more receptive in person cuz they aren't being bombarded with messages. @@ShezInAustralia I'm in healthcare, I can tell you the majority of obese people (both men & women) will never be fit again. In fact, most of them only get bigger. Yeah, there are a few cases where a health condition or medication caused them to gain weight, but the great majority are overweight due to poor lifestyle choices and a lack of discipline. Regardless of appearance, those aren't attractive traits anyway, and very few people will suddenly get the discipline to make the changes, even for their health, not even looks.

You ask the girl and she says "when we met..I was meh. That is why guy dating coaches say you have to raise interest level. Women think you are more attractive the more she knows you. Very few men have the looks or status where women are blown away. You see those examples in media because it is rare and people are fascinated. Because most people do not ever get that. Nothing about the graphs showing women think guys are ugly before she knows them is at all surprising or new. Always been this way. Your job as a guy is to raise that up.
There is a reason for that. Aging has a visible masculinization effect on human faces and it doesn't distinguish between male and female ones. That's why old women look like old men. The obvious difference is that for women more feminine faces are preferred, while when it comes to men, more masculine faces are preferred. Everyone gets uglier with age, but after around 50 or so, women just get considerably uglier. There is even an old joke about that: "Older men look like Sean Connery. Older women also look like Sean Connery."
Im 63 and for me it's not the aging so much with a older woman..it's being 50lbs overweight...a older woman can be attractive if they just work out and not eat so much...and if they are feminine and dress like it.

The reality of life is many people will have teenagers/young adult kids that still need catering for or old parents that they need taking care of +a job and the free time goes through the window. For most people the kids/grandkids/elderly parents will take priority before going to the gym. And as far as I understood after a certain age people just don't have as much energy as they had in their 20s or 30s.
When I was on dating apps, I swiped left on anyone using a filter. I didn't want the disappointment when I saw them in person and they didn't look like their photos.
Whenever I see a filter it's a sign of her low intelligence because she's unable to use them in a way you are not sure whether it's a filter or not. And that's the only way they were supposed to be used.

Take a look at the photos of famously "beautiful" actresses and models without makeup. It's frightening.
There's some truth in that & women are happy to acknowledge it but they just enjoy making the best of their looks & presentation -like they enjoy dancing...it's life affirming to them. Also, they fear the judgement of their peers so they feel they have to look their best in social situations. Not only that but they can only feel confident if they know they look good & they can only enjoy themselves if they feel confident. I wash & polish my car. It's only an old car & it's not valuable but it looks good when it's shiny and anyway the polish protects the paintwork. No one thinks it's a Lamborghini. I'm just making the best of what I have. Girls are the same...they're not trying to fool you; they know only too well what they look like in the mornings.

I lost 14% bodyfat ( i am at ~11% now ), am a software developer in a very well paying company, am 6 foot 4, speak two languages and learning spanish right now and i have taught myself playing the guitar the last 4 years. All this stuff is useless when I just go to work ( very male dominated, programmers ), gym and then home. My big problem is that i have no clue where to meet women in a setting that i am interested in. The only " outside " interest i have is the gym and i dont want to be "that guy" that hits on women at the gym. 30 year old guy here, never been in a serious relationship, dont use dating apps, had my time on the partying and one night stand scene, grew tired of it. I have a good career in sales, earn above average wage, get compliments on the way I dress from female colleagues. My "problem" seems to be I just completely lost interest in a relationship. I have my hobbies, have my routine, my job... Every time a woman comes in I tend to be very straightforward with what I want/think which most women these days don't seem to like, but probably I could also be less blunt if I cared. I am OK being single though, I don't let myself be lonely, do not think I am depressed either. I know women find me physically average or below average, but since I stopped caring about what they think and developed my own style and started to do things for ME, I get women interested. Guys need to start becoming honest with themselves, this is going to sound cliche but no one will want to be with you if you don't want to be with yourself. Its easy to complain that everything is unfair etc. but that's how it is, life is not fair and only person you are going to be with 100% until death is yourself.

Stopped caring - I haven't cared my whole life and it's gotten me no where. (in regards to attracting and staying in relationships). And yes, if you're happy it will reflect. If you enjoy the company of others genuinely, it will show. Empathy molecules and autism? I don't know, getting people to "like you" is so weird. Seems like they have an idealized version that they want to mold you into even if inside you're not that person. In my late 50’s, here’s the deal on dating sites. I tried them for a while, and many women said “can’t meet a good man”. When you meet them and talk to them, the reason why becomes all too clear. Want to meet real people, try the real world, it’s easier for you because there are no “filters” when someone is right there in front of you.

I had a conversation with a female friend recently and I tried to express why my standards are so low, I think I failed because what I was trying to express is that whether online or IRL I have to bring my A-game, just to have a chance with someone who's way below me. I hate it because often it makes me think that in order to date, love, be fulfilled, I have to have little to no standards the bar I have for women is so low. I’m so glad I missed this dating app scene. I’m 34 now and have been married to my wife for 10 years. I had just turned 24 and she had just turned 20. I have never regretted that decision. Dating today sounds like a sweet hell I never want to experience.

The actual issue is that most of women aren't looking to establish any sort of significative relationship with any man. I made a conscious effort to go out and take better photos of myself. I worked out, went from 215 to 170lbs, bought new clothes, went places with nice backgrounds and used a tripod to actually get better photos. I use Photofeeler to get ratings on my photos and I can honestly say I got better. I still get no matches on dating apps but it's fun to have good photos of myself. One criticism I've been told is that "I'm trying too hard". Is it that you have to look good without looking like you're trying to look good?

A lot of what keeps men from dating apps and even making much of an effort is not just how one sided dating is in favour of women (at first at least) but also the amount of relationships that either fail and cost the man everything or the relationships that stand the test of time but are mediocre at best. Been married and divorced twice and that's before realizing the nightmare that is dating nowadays. Yeah, there are a few cases where a health condition or medication caused them to gain weight, but the great majority are overweight due to poor lifestyle choices and a lack of discipline. Regardless of appearance, those aren't attractive traits anyway, and very few people will suddenly get the discipline to make the changes, even for their health, not even looks.

The reality of life is many people will have teenagers/young adult kids that still need catering for or old parents that they need taking care of +a job and the free time goes through the window. For most people the kids/grandkids/elderly parents will take priority before going to the gym. And as far as I understood after a certain age people just don't have as much energy as they had in their 20s or 30s.
When I was on dating apps, I swiped left on anyone using a filter. I didn't want the disappointment when I saw them in person and they didn't look like their photos.
Whenever I see a filter it's a sign of her low intelligence because she's unable to use them in a way you are not sure whether it's a filter or not. And that's the only way they were supposed to be used.

The bitter truth is that women's looks are an artificial creation consisting of layers of applied makeup, painted, plucked eyebrows, dyed hair, bras designed to create the illusion of large breasts, and in some cases Botox and plastic surgery. Take a look at the photos of famously "beautiful" actresses and models without makeup. It's frightening.
There's some truth in that & women are happy to acknowledge it but they just enjoy making the best of their looks & presentation -like they enjoy dancing...it's life affirming to them. Also, they fear the judgement of their peers so they feel they have to look their best in social situations. Not only that but they can only feel confident if they know they look good & they can only enjoy themselves if they feel confident.
I wash & polish my car. It's only an old car & it's not valuable but it looks good when it's shiny and anyway the polish protects the paintwork. No one thinks it's a Lamborghini. I'm just making the best of what I have. Girls are the same...they're not trying to fool you; they know only too well what they look like in the mornings.

I lost 14% bodyfat ( i am at ~11% now ), am a software developer in a very well paying company, am 6 foot 4, speak two languages and learning spanish right now and i have taught myself playing the guitar the last 4 years.
All this stuff is useless when I just go to work ( very male dominated, programmers ), gym and then home. My big problem is that i have no clue where to meet women in a setting that i am interested in. The only " outside " interest i have is the gym and i dont want to be "that guy" that hits on women at the gym.

30 year old guy here, never been in a serious relationship, dont use dating apps, had my time on the partying and one night stand scene, grew tired of it. I have a good career in sales, earn above average wage, get compliments on the way I dress from female colleagues. My "problem" seems to be I just completely lost interest in a relationship. I have my hobbies, have my routine, my job... Every time a woman comes in I tend to be very straightforward with what I want/think which most women these days don't seem to like, but probably I could also be less blunt if I cared. I am OK being single though, I don't let myself be lonely, do not think I am depressed either. I know women find me physically average or below average, but since I stopped caring about what they think and developed my own style and started to do things for ME, I get women interested. Guys need to start becoming honest with themselves, this is going to sound cliche but no one will want to be with you if you don't want to be with yourself. Its easy to complain that everything is unfair etc. but that's how it is, life is not fair and only person you are going to be with 100% until death is yourself.
The right woman will eventually come along and follow your lead. Just make sure she's younger than 30 though and not an ex "party girl".

In my late 50’s, here’s the deal on dating sites. I tried them for a while, and many women said “can’t meet a good man”. When you meet them and talk to them, the reason why becomes all too clear. Want to meet real people, try the real world, it’s easier for you because there are no “filters” when someone is right there in front of you.

The issue is not with looks or quality of pictures. Suggesting men to work on their looks and pictures is to cater to the dumb social media/dating app game. It's a losing proposition.
The actual issue is that most of women aren't looking to establish any sort of significative relationship with any man. They've embraced the single woman lifestyle and are quite content with the attention they get from social media and the steady dose of random dick that is readily available to them. More to the point, women who actually do need to use dating apps are already very low in the hierarchy themselves. Genuine highly attractive women don't need any of that at all.
If you are man and you want to date a woman then you should take part in as many different activities and be as social as possible. You should find ways to meet as many women as possible and to talk to them as much as you can. You need to socialize in person. It's an uphill road but dating apps are not the answer.

It is definitely alarming how many people post super blurry or old pictures of themselves. I’m not a photographer but you can get some very good pictures in your car on a sunny day. For some women, they probably think that over 80% are unattractive. 😒
I made a conscious effort to go out and take better photos of myself. I worked out, went from 215 to 170lbs, bought new clothes, went places with nice backgrounds and used a tripod to actually get better photos. I use Photofeeler to get ratings on my photos and I can honestly say I got better. I still get no matches on dating apps but it's fun to have good photos of myself. One criticism I've been told is that "I'm trying too hard". Is it that you have to look good without looking like you're trying to look good?

Look, whoever has the power- has the power to be picky. That's how the market works. If you went to a car lot and knew there were only ten cars you could afford it would take you far less time to choose than it would if you were informed you could pick any car on the lot for free. The disconnect is that women think they can buy even the most expensive car when, in reality, they're only renting (not even leasing) it. They don't have anywhere close to enough money to own it. The majority of guys cannot be unattractive(below average) that’s not how averages work. Women should adjust their standards or they risk not finding anyone at all.
This is why I’ve invested in Cat companies and boxed wine as the amount of women that will be childless and alone are only going up.

As a Gen Xer I know a lot of never married over 40 lonely bitter women. They were hot in their day, got lots of attention, and thought they could have their pick of men for marriage. Well, the men only picked them for sex. They were never picked for a wife. And the same fate is waiting for a lot of young women today.
