One of my favorite games of all time, it’s such a great palate cleanser between longer games and just a nice game to play on a Sunday afternoon or whenever you have an hour to kill. Plus such a nice story about heartbreak and coming back from it that I think most people can relate to. And the music is just incredible.
"This is the F-Zero port Nintendo wont make." What a DRAG for nintendo obvi. I love this game so much. Helps me through deepest depression. Delightful watching yall play. :o) (It/its)
ive played this game so many times and each time the ending makes me cry, the themes are so good and hit so close to home. 100/10 would cry while watching a gameplay video again
I'd never thought of it before, but “Mine” totally *does* sound like it could be a CHVRCHES song. Also, that instrumental that you couldn't identify at the beginning and end is just a synth version of Clair De Lune, a composition by Debussy from around 1900. It's been popular for a while, and had a recent resurgence in the gaming community as the save room music from The Evil Within.
this is a few years too late but at 9:00, a good game that i wish people knew more about and fits that description kind of is a game called battle chef brigade, amazing game that i wish was more popular
Oh no I associate Claire de Lune with ultrakill now. This game is so beautiful and polished. It's just a pure joy to play. The triple word level is so smart you can sway for an easy pass through but going for points is super hard to keep track of.
So some of the developers are fans of Queen Latifah and Annapurna asked them who they'd love to narrate the game. They threw out the name Queen Latifah as the impossible choice and somehow SHE AGREED. She recorded the narration a MONTH before the game was set to release internationally.
Oh hey as the extremely bird interested person I am qualified to answer! No, loons are not ducks, or even waterfowl. They're really rather distinct and distant from anything much, their closest relatives are penguins.
Y'all's synchronized "awwww" when the first kiss happened was wonderful, as was Vivian popping off for kissing a dragon. Excellent video! Oh, and the music that Vivian recognized at the beginning and end is Claire de Lune, which a piece of classical music that gets played all over the place. You might recognize it from Car Boys, that Polygon show from years ago featuring Griffin McElroy and some other asshole
Okay so the first level song that you're familiar with is a mix of the classical song Clair De Lune, so you probable heard it from somewhere else. And the "trick" to this game (even with the final boss) is actually what you both discussed while playing: "follow the hearts". 99% of the time the hearts are the safest path to follow. The more hearts you collect without dying, the more "combo" you have and therefore the bigger score multiplier. That's why in "Hate Skulls" you achieved Gold Rank. This game actually has a rank higher than Gold: Wild Rank: You have to collect hearts, coins AND perform as much Risky as possible to have the high enough score for that rank though.
Oh that was an eye opener for me, on the last level when I realized it was really easy if you “follow your heart”, then you realize the game was guiding you the whole time

Not sure if TH-cam likes internal links in the comments, but: th-cam.com/video/cVrSNOuWY3c/w-d-xo.htmlsi=LfjMeRxejZC2kOmT here's its use in that game

I'm so glad you enjoyed this game! And ye! Clair de Lun is the only "non-original" song, though this is a unique cover? It's a song by Debussy

Ah! My heart! Everything about this game makes my heart flutter and I just have the biggest, stupid grin on my face.
I think that's a great way to describe the experience of this game. It's just fun and enjoyable end-to-end.

Thanks, bird person!
Ughhhhhh this game is so sick! I love that the stereo lovers still try to swordfight you with their swordplane
