    It appears to me if you have the available space the channel type arrangement would be a better choice compared to using the towers. If you are pressed for space the towers would be a better option but then that depends on location. The towers and channels both work well growing vegetables optimally in green houses. An indoor system either channels or towers requires an entirely different kind of consideration related to lighting. The variables here are mind blowing. I guess it all comes down to where you're growing either indoors or in a greenhouse and how much space you have. Perplexing...

    Hi nice video ... Thanks !!! Only one question in the vertical towers system don't the shadow of the tower on nearby towers affect the over all yield ?

      Ya that is right. So if you can have reflective material behind the towers it helps spread the light around. In a greenhouse setting the sun is usually in the overhead position, so it's ok. During the summer it's more of a problem to get rid of too much heat than the light coming to the plants. During winter you have to have less plants to get the right light amount. But then you need to Supply your own light. It's always a give and take. Cost of lights version natural light. Thanks for responding. Any questions you have let me know. Thanks Von

    Great video, do you grow with rockwool or jiffy's? Or do the plants go straight into the holes?

      Thanks for looking at videos. I hope to share some of my experiences. I plant directly into the towers with a senthetic plug that fits the hole in tower . Check some of the other videos to see the type. I don't remember off hand the type. But you want to have the size that fits your tower hole. So make your tower hole for what you are using. On towers it's very important to have the right size plug for the hole. Otherwise you will have problem with water running out the tower hole. Thanks, Von

    How do you keep aphids away? I run almost an identical setup to your lettuce nft and I am infested.

      Yes afids can be a problem. I had some and had to clean out my system.

    In the beginning how big are the pvc pipes, they look like 2 inch or 3 inch. Most video's I looked at they use 4 inch

      They are 4" thin wall pvc. You need that size to handle all the roots. Thanks for watching.

    Great video...I'm learning have you tried "Non-circulating Hydroponics - Kratky" vs.using the pumps....pros/cons. i like the "set it & forget it....: ) I'm sure I'm overlooking something as a newbie....TY

      No I have only done aquaponics systems using pumps. But if I was doing a smaller system, something off-grid, I would try it.

    What is the material you are using to keep the algae from growing in the trouph?

    • @greensgillsgreenhouse-g3868
      @greensgillsgreenhouse-g3868  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is a plastic mesh made for food grade applications. I bought it in a roll years ago. The hardware stores carry a plastic material made to go into gutters to keep leaves out. That would work also. Thanks for watching

    Does your vinyl gutters affect your PH?

    • @greensgillsgreenhouse-g3868
      @greensgillsgreenhouse-g3868  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. As I understand it, the vinal or plastic gutters or the plastic fish tanks do not leach anything into the water. So they are safe to use for food and fish. Thanks for watching.
