    It happens to the best of us Kev, the consultation is soo important , it puts you and the customer/client at ease, no matter how long it may take. Overall i think you handled it well. Another lesson learned dude👍🏾👊🏾 All the best man

    Next time I’ll just do a drop hightop fade with a skin tight mohawk, and finish it off with a perm 😂

      @@KevvThaw As a freelancer in the film industry, I struggle with the edit and spend too much time and money on the camera. Your videos are not JUST about barbering, or JUST about filmmaking for TH-cam. There's so much more!! I feel like I have learned so much after only coming across your channel today. If anything your stories enlighten me in some way to push me forward. +1 Sub.
      Back to my love of cameras for a second, my first professional purchase was a used Canon c100 Mark II, solid machine when stepping out of the DSLR range when you need a dedicated MOVIE camera. It downscales 4K to FHD in camera and smooth 60p. $3200cad I paid used. Next one is a new Sony A7 iii body. $2400cad and now the A7siii is out and hyped. All this money into a camera and I haven't built enough confidence or sat down to write stories to tell. What good is it to have this gear when I take it to my odd gig while working under someone else? I don't grow. I don't get known in the industry or community. I hope to make use of my time in quarantine to make strides as a person and ya this is going off track. If you read all of this then let me know if you think I'm tripping a little or nah! -Ap

    Hi kevv. We had this same problem today in school. The student barber cut a mid fade on a kid then the mother said it was to high bro. The instructor spoke to the mom and told her that this cut is different because the head shape isn't the same. It's hard at time's to understand what the client wants. We as barbers try our best but sometimes it just doesn't work. Let it be bro. Your an excellent barber bro. Hands down. 💈💈💈

    Pics are a must! The “communication” between barber and client has to be clear. Because their thinking one thing and using terminology that isn’t coherent to what to the service they legitimately want. You gave him what he asked for according to how he communicated it and he showed you a “so so” pic. 🤷🏾‍♂️ I guess the stigma can be sometimes that a client will tell you what they want and “expect” you as the professional to execute as if we can read their mind🤦🏾‍♂️

    some people have the mentality of you have to know what theyre thinking or pick up on their signs. those are some of the worst because there is nothing like being completely open and explaining with enough detail what you want and feel

    I say this all the time that people are not confrontational. As a barber “we” are here for “you” BUT how can one fix something that “we” don’t know or hear about?
    I can see both sides to this story but I stress communication is key & I think you handled it correctly.

    The consultation the is the most important part of your service. It shouldn’t be rushed and everything should be clearly understood.

  • @shawnwilliams8411
    @shawnwilliams8411 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Be very mindful of your communication when giving consultation to clients. You can also have signed disclaimers to protect yourself from being sewed, If that client feels that your being prejudice by your questions/Tone or body language to them you can be setting up yourself for not just a bad review but also a lawsuit. I’ve been in the business long enough to see, hear & experience these events. It’s not a blame game just learn from it peace 🙏🏾

      Fiddle Diddle I still have Setmore. The shop I’m stationed is works through booksy. They’re both pretty good. Clients just can’t search for barbers on setmore like you can on booksy.

    Pleasing everyone is a very difficult thing to do. No one is perfect. We all make mistakes and learn from them. It's just an experience not a poor quality service

    Young Brother as a Barber for over 30 years you will learn that no matter how good you are or how great everyone else thinks you are, there will always be a client that is unhappy with your services. You learn from it and keep trending forward. Sometimes , people will transfer negative energy from their life to yours for no apparent reason so keep your focus and continue to do great things. Daryl the Barber....peace

  • @shawspeaks8252
    @shawspeaks8252 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Man this is why I have a hard time making videos. I be feeling like I have to explain everything. Bro do make videos with a bad energy focus. You just keep being the professional that you are. I got a bad review once. I was about to do a video about it. mine was nowhere near as nice as your. but the point is we will never make everyone happy, don't try. Those who you can make happy just being you focus all your attention on them. people are going to hate for no reason. I had a guy tell me his cut was good, and call me 2 days later saying he want his money back. lol some people will never be happy, you dont have to explain them away. We see how hard you work, it shows even in your videos. leave the negative behind. Great video though. Much Respect

    Just started following you- you say you have 7-8 years experience, if that’s cutting as a licensed professional use this as a teachable experience and follow up with him via text- things like this will only build a more solid foundation for you as a professional barber - recognize and move forward 💈

    You're the "professional" so it's on you to know how to communicate w/ the layman about haircuts. You don't need to know someones background in order to communicate effectively, so it wasn't about timing; in a misunderstanding that sort of question is always going to be wrong. Your victim mentality is telling and I wouldn't fuck w/ you as a barber.

    • @KevvThaw
      @KevvThaw  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      A T that’s fine. Don’t fuck with me? Lol.
      As for your other opinions... It was bad timing. My mistake was not showing a picture (as stated in the video).
      I asked for background as an attempt to find where the disconnect was. Its dope you learned a new compound word in victim mentality though 😂. Just doesn’t apply here.
