I have many plugins - neural dsp, mercuriall, but this became my go to plugin for everything - great sound in mix even with a built-in presets, sick sound for practice and just to play at home
The first time I saw Sylosis live (2012) was the first time I'd ever heard anything by them. Been a huge fan ever since. Josh is the undisputed king of modern thrash metal. It's cool to see his sound getting representation in his signature guitar and this plugin.
This is an amazing plugin. This is seriously the absolut best plugin I have ever played. But this is also rooted in the fact that boosted 5150 into Marshall 1960AV is exactly precise my tone I play and cherish. Kudos do STL Tones for releasing this masterpiece.
Criminally, criminally underrated combo. 100 percent agreed. The Marshall cab is the standout here, and I doubt it will get the love it deserves becsuse everyone can’t seem to hear anything other than a Mesa cab in their heads. The Marshall is the Sun though.
I agree josh is one of the best and tightest players around. His right hand especially is incredible. He reminds me a bit of Matt heafy in that he works so hard that playing as tight as he does seems easy and effortless when you see him play
totally! Third review I've watched and the first to mention that pickup output calibration feature for the input signal. That's a killer piece of kit in itself!
Love the channel and I appreciate you helping me shape my tone and saving me buku (in my hot Thai voice) $$$ demoing gear I would have otherwise wasted money on. However, you're burning down the best trees in existence in saying Josh Middleton isn't crushing Angus Young in terms of the greatest riffmen to have ever walked the earth.
One thing I will say about Josh. His taste for tones is so good even live. Architects live sound absolutely amazing. I've not listened to Sylosis yet. But definitely dig what he does in architects. Great vid as always!
The hype is real. That's all I can say. I haven't demoed it yet but just from your video fluff, this gotta be the most real sounding amp plugin I have ever heard. It has got some mojo, that other plugins seem to be lacking. I wanna say it simply sounds much alive
Thank you for those kind words about my hero 😂🙏🙏🙏 and have to agree. His riffs and song writing in general is just on another level. Then mix that in with his technical proficiency and you got yourself an absolute RIFF MONSTER
It's worth mentioning you had the Tempest drive engaged on the Dual Rec! It has hi-pass and lo-pass. That made the sound tighter than I expected out of a Dual Rectifier, and therefore I didn't like the sound the first time I watched this video! Boy, am I glad I came and watched again.
The balance of the input knob was first done by lasse lammert. Still in my opinion the best stl pluggin. It’s the reason I’m obsessed with that pluggin.
Maaaaan!!! I love Josh and I am so happy he got a signature plugin, tho I wish they added his modded Marshall, but overall I'm happy we got Josh's tone in a plugin
Wasn’t the biggest fan of STL stuff vs my usual set of NDSP plugins but this one does indeed rule. Good move on them tapping Josh as well. KILLER guitar player with a great ear for tone. I don’t regret getting it at all
That clean channel on the Mesa is worth the admission alone - sounded awesome. Obviously it does the heavy stuff as well as you’d expect, but that clean tone… Think I may have to get this one!
I recently bought some neural dsp plugins which are pretty good, but now I have a feeling this STL plugin might be better, so I'm going to buy it today!
gonna have to demo. the pickup selection and the tuner w mute and sensitivy alone make me want it. just gotta see how my low and mid output pickups do with it. seems insanely useful.
I don't think I've seen you this stoked about something before Fluff. While I always trust your expertise on the gear you demo, this seems like a very good investment of money.
Freaking awesome 👌! Just one question. If I'm going to get the subscription for stl tones, is this going to be included in the package or do I need to purchasing this signature tones separately for every each artist? Thanks in advance, I'm just a newbie in this modeling world!
God, I'm already using 3 amp sims as it is... do I reeeaaaaaly need a 4th? That octave FX is making me think... Also, the input level thing is also on the STL Tonehub.
I like these amp sims, but I'd really really like it if they improved the noise gate. The one knob style doesn't do it for me. I'd like something closer to the tcl sentry. If they did that, I'd be sold instantly.
I wish there was there was an easy way to use some of these plugins with a power amps, real cabs and such. I heard there is but I am a novice on all this..
@Alexander The Meh good luck mate. Let me know if you encounter any issues and I'll try to help. In my experience, with the right plugin it can sound absolutely amazing through a cabinet.
You said hetfield and Angus young? Lmaoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo The Mt Rushmore of riffs is Josh Middleton, James Malone, Chuck Schuldiner, and Mohammed Suicmez
this one goes out to the ndsp ass clowns on this thread eat em and smile boys this plugin wastes anything ndsp has or will ever have! although a bit on the high price side of things but fuck it its josh well worth it!
For 135 bucks Canadian I can go to Audio Assault and get an Amp Sim for 14 bucks and you couldn't tell the difference in the mix.. I think your Fluff 2c sounds just as good from ML SoundLab for more than 1/2 the price!
I don't know....this plugin seems like a rehash of all the other stl tone plugins. I have amphub and it covers everything. Second can we have a Jesse Cash of Erra plugin? I feel his playing is far more impressive than Josh Middleton and he has some pretty cool tones too.
Exactly, their AmpHub covers everything this plugin does. Not talking about subscription, for 50 USD you get AmpHub, one free amp of your choice, some free Ignite amps, some free stomps, many post effects (chorus, flanger, phaser, reverb, delay, etc..), ton of IRs and 20% loyalty reward for all your next purchases. Now someone tell me how AmpHub is not a much better deal?
Stoked you’re into it Fluff! Thank you!
I just download the trial. easily the best amp sim I ever played.
Josh & Sylosis are criminally underrated! The plugin sounds amazing!
Facts
I con-fuggin-cur
I love the 5150 tone is still kickin ass 30 years later
I have many plugins - neural dsp, mercuriall, but this became my go to plugin for everything - great sound in mix even with a built-in presets, sick sound for practice and just to play at home
Input Leveler...wow........THATS what we needed! 🔥🔥🔥
The first time I saw Sylosis live (2012) was the first time I'd ever heard anything by them. Been a huge fan ever since. Josh is the undisputed king of modern thrash metal. It's cool to see his sound getting representation in his signature guitar and this plugin.
saw them as well I've not heard better live guitar tone since lol
Josh Middleton's "Hollowed-out Planetoid" solo album is breathtaking
The Passages album he did is also incredible, anything he does is gold
I don't know if I'm psyching myself out, but I swear I actually hear some organic sounding bloom and sag from that plug-in.
This is an amazing plugin. This is seriously the absolut best plugin I have ever played. But this is also rooted in the fact that boosted 5150 into Marshall 1960AV is exactly precise my tone I play and cherish.

Looks like a major step forward, the level of detail is outstanding.
Love Sylosis and Architects!! Josh may be the best modern guitarist in the game right now! And, his tones are incredible!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Dude, seeing you play a Peavey Triple X (plugin) brings back memories of the VERY early years of this channel ❤️
haven't seen one in forever but yeah I agree, I remember playing one and loved how it sounded
Yes this Ampsim sounds absolutely fantastic I am a member of STL TONE this is a most.
I agree josh is one of the best and tightest players around. His right hand especially is incredible. He reminds me a bit of Matt heafy in that he works so hard that playing as tight as he does seems easy and effortless when you see him play
You did a killer job explaining things in a detailed and kind of scientific way. Love the use of it in a mix as well. Best amp sim yet imo
Yoooooo, shout-outs Brandon, fancy seeing you here
@@fives. haha here I am!
Fluff's doing the best review...finally something not only in the mix. Thanks man! 🙏🏻
totally! Third review I've watched and the first to mention that pickup output calibration feature for the input signal. That's a killer piece of kit in itself!
@@danymalsound For sure. What I hate is that they still use Windows UI in the Mac Version as well...this is really embarrassing.
As an avid SmartHome user myself, I love what you're doing with your lights!
Haven’t bought any new plugins in years, definitely gonna check this out. Seems to have all bases covered and great tone. Nice review Fluff!!
Wow...The 5150 Sounds so frickin Tight and Buttery!! Very Organic..
Just bought it while watching this video. Can’t wait to get into it later!

In my opinion STL is not as good as neural dsp plugins, but close..
@@adalbertusignatius4967 they each have their place, that's the beauty of all these options : )
Amp1 is good, the others lifeloss distortion.
This is my favorite guitar plug in by far!
Thank you for those kind words about my hero 😂🙏🙏🙏 and have to agree. His riffs and song writing in general is just on another level. Then mix that in with his technical proficiency and you got yourself an absolute RIFF MONSTER

Sounds so good! I love Sylosis!
I can't stop noodling on this ampsim, it just feels....real

Maaaaan!!! I love Josh and I am so happy he got a signature plugin, tho I wish they added his modded Marshall, but overall I'm happy we got Josh's tone in a plugin
The STL stuff is generally pretty great. I didn't love the Putney suite, but the Lasse Lamert is great and I do love my AmpHub subscription.
Wasn’t the biggest fan of STL stuff vs my usual set of NDSP plugins but this one does indeed rule. Good move on them tapping Josh as well. KILLER guitar player with a great ear for tone. I don’t regret getting it at all
I own the Lasse Lammert ....it has the input thing

Been wanting a XXX For forever now!! I'm pretty sure Overdrive 1 is the VFE dragon or Fortin Tempest!
I don't think I've seen you this stoked about something before Fluff. While I always trust your expertise on the gear you demo, this seems like a very good investment of money.
Wow, sick tones!! Also +1 to Sylosis. They shred.🤘
Wow, this sounds really good and is done really well as far as features and layout.
I love my neural DSP plugins but Colin Richardson has been bought by STL and that dude knows how to make guitars jump out of the speakers
When this can out, I didn't download the free trail. I FUCKING BROUGHT IT, because I knew it's going to be that good.
Sounds and looks sick! Definitely checking this one out.
Bro I’m so ready for Josh’s sauce
Freaking awesome 👌! Just one question. If I'm going to get the subscription for stl tones, is this going to be included in the package or do I need to purchasing this signature tones separately for every each artist? Thanks in advance, I'm just a newbie in this modeling world!
Yep thats 5150 clean.
I cancelled my STL tones subscription after I bought this. Its all I need.
OD 1 based on the Tempest surely ?
Yes, confirmed by the dev team.
Is this the first well-sounding Dual Rectifier amp sim? Can't wait to try it.
Actually there are plenty. Mercuriall, Nembrini, ML Sound Lab, STL AmpHub, Kuassa - they all do sound great.
@@R74NN dont know why but I don't really like them. But maybe I don't like recs xd I'll tell you when I try Josh one
I can do wirhout the 2nd amp but the 5150 and the Recto are sick.
Chug Chug Chug
oooooooo, that do sound good
Oooh Riffage......sweet!!!!!

wich drumprogramm are you using for your playtrough ?
It’s hard to believe reviews when every one of them is saying it’s the best thing since bread

I’m new to all this. Do you play through a cabinet or studio speakers?
You can play through either studio monitors or a powered floor monitor, like a Headrush
Yep, sounds like a plugin.
I sure as hell don't need this plugin.
I mean, I'm gonna get it.... I'm just gonna admit that its definitely want more than need.
what's up with the hacky voice recording?
Any chorus effect?
Is that drop C#
I wish there was there was an easy way to use some of these plugins with a power amps, real cabs and such. I heard there is but I am a novice on all this..
All you need is a usb dac
Interface out> power amp> cab.
Simple. Remember to disable cabinet in plugin while doing it though.
@@WholeLottaBulldog you are making it sound easy. Thank you. Might have to start experimenting.

The Mt Rushmore of riffs is Josh Middleton, James Malone, Chuck Schuldiner, and Mohammed Suicmez
He said Hetfield and Malcom Young.
How much is it?
119.99
really? Off the top of my head I know that Waves PRS amp sims has an auto input gain stage and so doesn't Bias FX2.
this one goes out to the ndsp ass clowns on this thread eat em and smile boys this plugin wastes anything ndsp has or will ever have! although a bit on the high price side of things but fuck it its josh well worth it!

Malcom Young.

Erra’s last album was a Tonehub blend. They re-released it in the Atrium Audio II pack, as well as the bass tone.
rebranding
Although I don’t disagree with Middleton, Willie Adler blows Hetfield out of the water. Everyone has their opinions so, yeah.
Fair enough, but it's hard to blow James out of the water when he walks on it.... 😜
You get Josh’s sauce.
