part II of Wool Blanket Monk tricks vid. We explore how to modify the monk system to use a large wool blanket and "SECRET HAVERSACK" system! Enjoy! God Bless, Get Outdoors and Get Blessed!
I've had a wool blanket in my life for as long as I can remember and beyond. I'm a hillbilly from down in the Ozarks, I'm 73. I like this, it is something most people don't ever consider or, even think of. In the Marine Corps part of my field issue was a wool blanket, a light weight stop rip poncho and poncho liner. There were a few times we even drew field jackets. In ITR and BITS,right after boot camp, we were taught numerous strategic uses of each of those three main field issue items,,, Good video, thank you young man,,,Semper Fi mac It can get cold and wet out in the bush, even on a firebase you spend at least 20 hours a day out side,,,no matter the weather,,,
Oddly enough, I'm 73 and my poncho liner is with me no matter where I travel and my wool blanket is always nearby - - - my EDC bag includes duplicates of these items as well
I think a lot of us did this when we were little, but it feels really different to see a grown man explain this with a very serious tone. I think I would get along with this guy! :)
+Clint Hollingsworth wow! i'm honored brother! :) Google + has shut down my access to my own page!!! I have started another channel "Saved Monk Outdoors Channel" on youtube and will continue uploading vids there. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Dude! Same! This is going in my bushcraft playlist! This is a great technique to have! Thank you! Hung jin shaun moon! -(i probably butchered that but i still made the attempt) much love! 🔥💯🙌❤️🔥
I so miss my wool blankets. Never had anything that large and thin, but wool is the KING!!! Don't care if it is sheep or llama or camel, WOOL IS KING!!
My wool blankets are saving me a ton of money . I do not have to buy expensive , bulky sleeping bags and tents . The ultimate nomad system . Bless you !

I see you have attained your medallion of omnipresent super galactic spiritual oneness. Very good! It took me 80 yrs to achieve my medallion of spiritual accomplishment.
Great video! I enjoyed this one, and the other related one. These wool blanket tricks the monks use are very similar to the ways that the Scottish great kilt can be draped/wrapped over the body when worn.
It's more like great kilt is one of several methods of wrapping your blanket around your butt (and body, although the pocket trick>staying warm lol) to keep yourself warm while limiting the amount of stuff you wear and carry on a trip
Excellent video this really goes beyond what a lot of people tend to take for granted! Thank you so much for your time and knowledge!! So simple and yet so dynamic and versatile! Cheers!
You know it's getting cold here in UK and energy prices are rocketing so this video will be VERY useful (and I'm definitely not joking 🥶) Thank you very much for this video 👍 PS :where ever you are on this video is truly beautiful.
It just dawned on me that you’re Mr Moon of The Sanctuary Church!! Rod of Iron! 😮 you’ve come a long way! I’m not big into religions but I like your mind set. ✊🏻
Great idea. Nice to see another way of using the blanket where it has more functions than just being a sleeping cover or warm coat. More functionality over a sleeping bag.
why would they shut down your access to your own page (read about in a comment) ?! This is amazing! I did not know about using blankets as such. Thank you so much for showing this! Your video reminds me of a book I read by Jean Auel called Earth's Children (a series) where the "cave people" used all those folds like pockets to hold things that they would gather as they went along. I'm hoping to find a video that would show how for that. Stay safe!
As a kid I put the corner at my head, made it hang over, cover my face, sit cross legged on the blanket, pull the lower corner up by my feet over my lap, and cross the 2 side corners over me. I would fold the triangle covering my face under, so a double thickness on my pate, and face free.
I had friend fixate on what she called a marsh dress. It was a large tube of fabric found in the marshes of Northern Europe. I think the size went from wrist to wrist and floor to above your head. Then there was a clasp or two. While in the tube you can over your head, clasp it at the shoulders, shift it forward, use a belt, create a pocket. Very much the same here, but in a tube.
Just for the record and for anyone interested in researching this further, the technical name for that kind of dress is "peplos," and they were often open at the side instead of sewn into a tube. I know of only one or two that were recovered from Danish peat bogs, but they are commonly illustrated in Classical and Hellenistic Greek art.
@@boa1793 If my memory serves me correctly, it appears to have been the standard female dress in northern and central Europe up until the early Middle Ages, aka Dark Age, when it was replaced by dresses more along the lines of a long male tunic. It is shown a lot in Greek art, but since these depictions are largely of goddesses or other mythological figures it is possible that the illustrations reflect an earlier costume rather than what Greek women actually wore at the time. I might have an article on that somewhere in my archives... I suspect that one of the reasons why it persisted so long is because it would be very easy to accommodate pregnant and nursing mothers, since it is essentially refitted every morning. I did a guesstimate once that a wool dress represented something like 500+ hours of labor - shearing, wool-prep, dying, and weaving - so doing away with the need for dedicated maternity clothing was probably appreciated...It is of course possible that there were climate specific reasons as well. If your friend wears one a lot she might have some insights.
@@123elnat , Thank you. That was good info. I haven’t talked to her in decades! I’ve thought about how long they put into making those “dresses.” Their wool was probably uncomfortable, too. I love watching costumes in movies about the 1800s because they hadn’t figured out sleeve fitting yet. That and tall the ways tailors try to make a sleeve fit. It’s just so fascinating!
I really appreciate your video, it makes blanket robes much less complicated when I get up early and am sitting here at the computer in my underwear drinking coffee and watching the Trump news. I've been Buddhist since before birth and I hope you will not give it up entirely because it is not in conflict with Christianity. Christians in general are just in conflict with Buddhists. Many people have tried to convert me, heathens are hard to find these days. I politely resist. But you can be both, if you are open-minded.
I found this viceo facinating...the instructor I can see is fully vested in his instruction...I had to increase the volume quite a little bit...a remote microphone would have help A Lot...all in all a Bravo effort...wink
Genius!!!! Why orientals understand so much more about the human body extending longevity of life, with strength retention and mobility. I especially love that you have such effective insight and instruction with simplicity. Just simple effective clothing. Additionally, the “music of the song birds rather than manmade music was perfection. Thank you.
Normally, I’d pass by such a comment, yet the teaching spirit of my soul feels it’s important to pass down some words of wisdom here. My American high school best friend, whose ancestors came from Asia, met in what used to be a small Texas town (several decades ago) filled with misinformed generational concepts, often would correct people who called her oriental. She’d say, “People can be Asian. - **Things** are oriental!” … I quite like that! ❤
