- Meet the horrible villains of a Victorian criminal hideout in 19th Century London. It was a dark and hidden world of which respectable society knew little, until some intrepid people chose to explore this nefarious side of London. Who else would have known what a robber's den was like in the 1800s and its shady characters, save the criminals themselves? Today, we travel back to 1860s London with an investigative journalist who, in disguise, dares to visit a hideout of thieves, to discover the character of these criminals and witness their conversations. Find out if these low thieves of Victorian London were really dangerous, what kind of things they were stealing and why, and if our journalist leaves the den with the same opinion of them as the city's police - that these villainous hangdogs deserved nothing but the full force of the law.

You should make another channel just reading book's from writer's of this era, you do such a good job. I know some people do video's by chapter, length of time, and even the whole novel in one video. Some people aren't that talented, which in turn makes it hard to listen to, but i could see you doing quite well. G-d bless, and the best is yet to come.

How are you doing sir thank you for your wonderful cultural documentary channel. Honestly with every new video I learn new information, new vocabularies. Hideout means place of retreat, concealment . Villain person who behavior is unprincipled, dishonorable. During victorian era there are numbers of house breakers and expert burgers . But most interesting things l learned is jack ripper is most famous serial killer but unfortunately unidentified . He have other names whitechapel murder , leather apron . Although he never identified proved to be extremely knowledgeable about human anatomy. His intelligence helped him fly under radar and enabled him to continue crimes . Jack ripper featured in hundreds of works of fiction. In 2006 bbc history magazine selected him as worst Briton in history . 2016 jack ripper museum opened west London . In the days of Queen Elizabeth the first's reign, if one committed a crime and wished to escape the law all they had to do is cross the Thames to South London and they were more or less free. If I'm wrong I stand corrected.

Envelope at around 10.30? A simple slip? The intonation is perhaps unusual for these times but it’s how the best story readers kept interest up for listeners some decades back. Very effective.
