    I am glad you are enjoying the Moroccan Fez; I was the one who sold it to you. I will gladly buy it back, if you have 2 copies.

    Oooh do you know which women's magazine at all? that's fascinating! I live in the UK and work in journalism - I wrote for Harper's Bazaar and some other fashion/ style magazines for about years or so when I commuted to London in my twenties. I love looking at vintage womens magazines but I had no idea they published a Tarot! Absolutely amazing. I recently picked up my first vintage deck - the Swiss Marsialle Tarot from the 70's its so beautiful and was very reasonable on eBay - It's my only 'old' deck so far but I love learning about the history of Tarot soooo much. Thanks so much for sharing Dustin! 😊 Xxx

      I'm not sure off the top of my head which specifically, sorry. From my recollection it was a company that published several of them. The 1JJSwiss is a great deck! I love vintage decks! Thank you for watching Emily. 🙏🏼

      I believe the deck was primarily distributed through "My Weekly" magazine.

    I sooooo want the Royal Fez Moroccan tarot! My mom was born in Fez 💕 Also want the Hoi Polloi! Love the far out vibe of the 60s through the 70s. Have you ever worked with Morgan's Tarot??? (more of an oracle) Thank you for sharing these 💜

    have you checked out the fantasy showcase tarot?? i think you’d really enjoy it i struggled to find it but after i did i fell in love with it, over 85 artists worked on this deck and it took around 10 years to make! (1969-1980) each card is so unique and retro i love it i feel like you’d appreciate its art too! just found your channel and i love it!

    Nice overview. If you want more information on the J.K. Waite, Melissa Zupan has a very informative video on its history and comparative source imagery on her video: th-cam.com/video/xGj6NB9XzVA/w-d-xo.html
    The Royal Fez didn't invent those associations for socioeconomic class with the suits (that goes back to playing cards and Tarot de Marseilles) but it's interesting to see a modern deck that is re-affirming them.

      Melissa and I are great friends and talk about RWS decks often, I adore her! In fact our lists are fairly close to the same. I think you may have misunderstood my comment in regards to the class stratification. Yes, we see the socio-economic delineations in TDM, but that is primarily within the courts (the classic system I offhandedly referred to). This was one, however, of the first fully illustrated modern decks to employ this throughout the minors, really bringing to the forefront of it's desiogn - which was a critically important aspect of the deck to Roland Berrill, who was the founder of Mensa. Hansen Roberts is another great more modern deck that does it of the top of my head. :) Thank you for watching!

    Welp, looks like we have a pretty identical list of favorite retro Rider decks. I haven't gotten the Thomson Leng deck yet, though it is on my list to get from Tarot Collectibles. That deck strongly reminds me of the Knapp-Hall deck for some reason.

      Knapp-Hall is still on my list. I need to get a copy of that one! Thanks for watching!

      The Philosophical Research Society (www.prs.org) has reprinted it a few times under the name Revised New Art Tarot since US Games stopped. They recently sold out of the last printing, but hope to be printing it again soon.

      Good to know! Interestingly enough, I e-mailed them regarding just that about a week and a half ago now, and still havent heard back. I suspect they may be on hiatus though with the Pandemic. Fingers crossed it comes back!

    I've been thinking about getting the Thomson Leng for some time, but am not sure how I feel about the pip-like arrangements on the wands suit. I do have and love the Royal Fez Morroccan tarot and was wondering if the soft matte feel of the cards is what folks are talking about when they describe the feel of the blushing fool deck (which I don't yet own).

    • @ModernMetaphysicae
      @ModernMetaphysicae  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The card stock on the Fez is very similar to my blushing fool, they're not exactly the same but VERY similar. I should note that both of my Fez decks are different editions, and even the stock between them is slightly different, but it is that nice old school papery soft card stock that is buttery delicious!
