I thought I'd go 91 as the price difference between 91 and 93 octane where I live (Canada) is quite substantial. The 93 is another beast altogether. Next spring I'll go FBO (I did the charge pipe before tuning) and go Stage 2. Thanks for the review!

@@jasonly2068 Not required but I'd say charge pipe at a minimum, since they're known to break a even stock power (if N55). Other than that, possibly an upgraded FMIC if you live in a hot climate.

@@FritzRamos I love it! Yes it does get kinda loud, depending on what mods and if you customized your burbles. My car is fully straight piped, along with a lot more mods. But if you want to get the most HP out of the n55, you’ll definitely need to get a custom tune and an upgraded HPFP. Throw in a better turbo and you’ll be reach 500hp+
ALSO make sure you guys dont click anything when its in the middle of tuning let everything go on, dont click "ok" on the screen or else ur car wont start up, and youll have to get ur ecu fixed

I'm in a similar situation. I picked up a 2016 F23 from a dealer with a Burger intake, an unknown exhaust (has M carbon tips)... and I can't really get in to see what other mods may have been done. I'm curious if he tuned it. Strangely, it still has the square 225r18 7.5" run-flat wheels on it all around that came from the factory... I really want to tune it just to remove the 130mph limiter, put on staggered 8" 245s on the back, replace the Pirelli All Seasons with summer tires. I'm worried that if I tune it and it already has a tune, it might cause problems and brick my ECU (as well as - it would already have the limiter removed, I'd assume). I guess I could just take it out and see if it stops at 130... but I'm really considering the BM3. Fritz, have you had any problems related to BM3 throwing up engine check codes or any other issues since you installed? Love your videos. They almost give me confidence to start tearing apart my bimmer and trying some of these upgrades myself.

And how I go about tuning it myself and if it would clash with the current tune, anyone have any answers?

Got a tune yesterday and it was a blast driving the car for an hour until something went and suddenly it has no boost lol. Havent had a chance to look into it but it was throwing maf sensor and intake air temp sensor codes.
If you buy the $50 map pack, you get all the available OTS maps for your engine. Just playing around to try the different ones is worth the extra money. But most will want to get their money's worth and get Stage 2 or a Custom Tune (the software makes this easy as well). To go Stage 2 you will want a charge pipe, intercooler and catted or catless downpipe.
Good tip on the seat belt. It's the only sure way to prevent the car power from automatically turning off. That would be very bad during flashing. Great video! Question - so this tune would be pointless on stock setup?
You could do it on a stock setup, but don't be surprised if the charge pipe cracks. I also think that the tune benefits from having better airflow, but you will notice a performance gain no matter what.
Depends on what the mod does. To over simplify it, if it causes more stress on the engine then yes, but if it simply allows for better flow like an air filter or exhaust then no.

I did the stage 1 tune today and my start stop completely disabled. Doesn't work in comfort mode. I don't like using it all but it's really annoying now something is not working in my car.

Have you try Enet cable to USB-c with Android ? For me it does disconnect my internet when I plug it. They also mention the same in their troubleshooting. What phone are you using ? Android OS (all versions) turns off your Internet (mobile data) connection the moment you plug in the ENET cable or connect to the BM3_NET WiFi network. This is unfortunate default Android behaviour. iOS keeps internet just like Windows and macOS and even though all computers should behave this way, Android does not 😔
@@FritzRamos Using the S8 and try with S10 with same adaptor as the one you are using in the video and no luck. I did a lot of research and this is very common that Android shut all internet connection when plugging an Enet cable. My phone does not have the option "Mobile data only apps" to turn on the Bootmod3 internet access only. BM3 said, in case your Android device is older and doesn’t have this setting you will unfortunately need to fall back to using Offline Mode instead. I did more research with MHD just to compare and it's worst, they just say our cable does not work with Android at all, so at least BM3 give you some access with recent phone. The next question is, do you know if you can data log a graph while you are driving in Offline mode ?

Just did mine yesterday, if you have laptop or MacBook and have WiFi access it work with no problems, take like 5-6 mins probably less

I'd highly recommend upgrading your charge pipe before going to stage 1. Otherwise, you're good on stock parts 👍
