I'm just getting around to listening to these Danley rig videos through some good headphones. Man. Night and day difference. What's your crossover set at? The recommended 160Hz? Any eq changes on the subs you've had to do?
Thank you! Crossover is set with HPF at 120hz on the sm80 and LPF of 90hz on the th118xl. These are the factory presets. It really is eye opening. I understand why people go nuts over this gear now. It does exactly what you ask it to do with no coloration. For the first time in a long time I am not feeling the need to buy something else. Well, maybe J7 at some point.
There is nothing wrong with the RCF but I definitely prefer the Danley system. It has more clarity, and output while being more efficient. I did have to work a little to get the Danley system where I wanted because it is more honest. Once I figured out it’s nuances I had to rethink my mix approach for the better. Little adjustments go a long way. The RCF stuff is more forgiving and mellow. Out of the box a little more mix friendly but I’d say not as precise as the Danley.

Do You prefer this system or rcf?
