I have been there three times in the past two years as a visitor from Canada. Owner Andy is a true gentleman and terrific host and the staff are wonderful. I hope to return to London next year with our best friends and we will eat there to celebrate our visit.
@@GaryEats During our first visit in 2022, we met Andy and we were given complimentary shots of ouzo and amaretto. Perhaps speaking Greek resulted in such great hospitality. Usually, at Greek restaurants one is often treated to free ouzo or dessert. Those interested in trying Andy’s for dinner should book ahead as it can get packed.
I remember going there once and it was late, around 10.30 pm, and the place had emptied out. I was thinking I had better hurry up with my meal as the staff would be wanting to go home. Spot on about the Canadian Greek restaurants. They are a disgrace. Greek salad with lettuce? NO way! Mousaka with mashed potatoes instead of béchamel? Heresy!

I saw Tele Savalas come out of a greek restaurant in camden high street in the 1980's,after a night at Camden Palace nightclub. He was happy to chat to 2 drunk students , and he did recommend the restaurant as one of best greek restaurants he had ever eaten in. So that was a good enough recommendation for me

There are plenty of Greek restaurants on the East coast, how have you avoided them,my first introduction to Greek food was in the many Greek restaurants in NYC in 1965 when I came to America as a young women from England. All the diners in NJ were Greek owned, and the lamb shisk kabab was always superb, and all the other Greek dishes,I don’t know if it’s the same anymore as I’m almost 80,and cook at home.I don’t know where you live, but I doubt you are far from some good foreign restaurants.Don’t wait to long, because everything gets harder by the year, what was easy at 67,is much harder now I’m pushing 80.Good luck my friend😊
Wow. Andy's. is easily one of my fave places to eat in all of London. You're dead right that, it could only be bettered if it was by the sea on an actual Greek island. Although in all my trips to Greece, I've rarely eaten food as tasty as what I get at Andy's. A 10/10, all day long.
Just an advice from a Greek: next time you visit Greece ask locals where they go to eat and ask for a restaurant that is open all year round open. Avoid by any means restaurants for tourists! Also the food quality and service is worse during high season (later July till August 15).
That looked absolutely delicious Gary. They should be very proud getting high praise from you because of your honesty. You review a very broad range of places which i enjoy👍🇮🇪

Very good to see these family-owned restaurants still survive and serve very good food at a decent price. We have a local Greek fish and chip shop that has been going for 62 years in one family and in this day and age, let alone given the challenges of Covid, it's good to see a business like this still surviving and carrying on a family tradition. @@GaryEats here in Greece where seafood is abundant, at the very least one is expected to at least give the shells a good “licking”!! I myself eat them they’re full of flavour
Ooh, need to give that a go when I'm in London. I love family-run, neighbourhood restaurants like that. Looked like incredible food and value for money. What a gem.
Greek food yes please, i'll get my coat. Have been to Andy's many many years ago, great to see it still going and still serving wonderful fresh food. Oh to be in those Greek islands right now. Cheers Gary
Mousaka one of my favorite mediteranian dishes, by far! We have a couple of decent Greek places who really do it justice too. Also, some places skimp on shrimpt these days. So many are so small these days. Good to see full sized, fresh shrimp like those being served.
Greek restaurants cooking Mediterranean food are always a culinary treat and positive experience. And to think they gave the western world the pre-Socratics, Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle and the Stoics too!
@derin111 Actually, there are increasingly less and less fish and chip shops these days in London. They are going the way of the Pie and Mash shops before them. It is quite hard to find them now. There are several reasons for this. Firstly, the competition from other fast food outlets. Secondly, most of them don't do home deliveries. Thirdly, the health factor - deep fried foods went out of vogue years ago. Fourthly, the decline of the white working class community. Fifthly, the youngsters from ethnic communities seem to prefer chicken and chips shops. Sixthly, people have generally become more sophisticated in their tastes. Finally, many were of a poor standard and gave the product a poor reputation.
Hi Gary, great video's mate, keep them coming. Myself and a few friends went to Andy's on your recommendation, and I must say we were extremely impressed with the food and the staff. Great shout Gary... Martin from London.
A delightful review, Gary. Also, nice to see you use the 10* at last. Andy's is no doubt sought out especially by the Greek and Mediterranean community, who appreciate such excellent fare being served in London. Your review is also a massive shout out to established family run restaurant businesses who take pride in their offering and standards. Marvellous. 👍
Things I’ve learned about Gary since diving into the back catalog these last two weeks: 1) not a fan of mushrooms; 2) loves a good prawn; 3) thinks the sausage is the key to a good breakfast; 4) not sure whether hash browns belong on an English breakfast - but they better be crispy if they are there; 5) always appreciative of good service. 6) fair and balanced in his reviews. I’m looking forward to continued viewing. Oh! I forgot to list: lamb is his favorite meat!
At last a 10⭐️, and well deserved. The food looked terrific and very much the way the Greeks would serve it at home for a special occasion. What great value too. Friday/Saturday night there would be absolutely buzzing to create an even better experience with friends or family. Great review Gary. Opa!! 😊🇬🇷😊
Your food reminded me so much of my best friend's family, when I was in senior school. My friend & her family came to England, from Cyprus, in 1974, due to the conflict there, with Turkey, & they treated me like one of their own. I ate many meals with them, & Gina's mum made the same kind of Moussaka as the one you ate - her besamel sauce, made with eggs, was sooooo delicious! 🤣 Gina's Dad was always cooking the Lamb Souvlaka over charcoal, & that smell is still with me to this day - I'd never had food like it, until I made friends with Gina, & it opened up the world's cuisines to me! 👍 My mouth was literally watering as you ate the food, & the salad looked exactly how Gina's mum made it for us! Lol As for the Lamb Souvlaki, she would make a marinade with virgin olive oil, fresh squeezed lemon juice, minced garlic, chopped fresh rosemary, thyme, & parsley, & fresh grated black pepper, with a pinch of grated sea salt - she insisted it had to be Greek sea salt, & they'd get packages of different foodstuffs unavailable in England, in those days, from family members who stayed there, in Cyprus! Lol I've always loved those flavours ever since, especially when i use that delicious salty Feta in a chunky salad! Lol
And it looks amazing, too. Nowadays worth an extra-applause: the absolutely fair prices! Will definitely head there with the family soon, thanks for your recommendation, Gary! 🙏😊
Gary, you've reminded me of a great Greek restaurant I went to many moons ago. It was called the Akrotiri, in Clapham. My brother was a Catholic priest nearby and was a regular at the restaurant, and was friendly with the owner. I had the Kleftiko, which was absolutely divine. When the owner came to ask if everything was ok, I complimented him, and cheekily asked how he did it. He said that when he first opened the restaurant a young courting couple were regulars. In time they got married and started a family, and every week or two they would still come, with the children. They always finished their meal with Greek bread and butter pudding. They eventually asked him for his pudding recipe, which he gave them. He never saw them again.
Nice to see you tackling some Greek food Gary and especially in a such a great taverna. Yet again the best turns out to be in a workaday environment with no fanfare or pretention. All the food looked fabulous and I'm not surprised it tasted the same way. I've not seen this quality of Greek food since I lived, (of all places), in Germany, not Greece, where I found a lot of excellent tavernas. I think it definitely deserves its star rating, and I wish I'd known about it when I last visted Camden.

That food looked incredible, and fantastically filling portions too! I adore Greek food-experienced both on Crete and Zakinthos & Andy’s looked so much like the food I’ve had over several Greek holidays, absolutely amazing so glad you enjoyed it!☺️

Thanks so much 👍
What an absolute belter of a review. It all looked utterly delicious. That moussaka was fantastic. What a portion! Totally agree with the score.
It was absolutely delicious
The restaurants you visit are places I never will, being I live in Tasmania. However the videos are very interesting and pleasant, also nothing warms the cockles of my heart more than knowing the cameraman gets a feed.
I was so lucky on this one Simon and actually so was the cameraman
@@GaryEatshey mate don't think you should say the camera man was lucky to be fed
Great review, perfect food. Well done Gary
Thank you very much Howard
Thank you Gary, living in Cyprus I love Greek food!! 🍽🍽🤗🤗

Gary, you're a legend because you're genuine, Keep going I love the channel.
Very much appreciated, Greg. Thank you very much.
Eat the prawn shells, you get a lovely crunch.
Well said!
I would love to but then I get a lot of stick for doing so lol
@@GaryEats here in Greece where seafood is abundant, at the very least one is expected to at least give the shells a good “licking”!!
I myself eat them they’re full of flavour
@@GaryEats don’t take any notice, do whatever you feel like doing
Ooh, need to give that a go when I'm in London. I love family-run, neighbourhood restaurants like that. Looked like incredible food and value for money. What a gem.
Give it a go Justyn!!
Looks amazing Gary I love Greek food. Thank you for your vlogs there always a great watching👍 Phil.
Phil that very kind thank you
Greek food yes please, i'll get my coat. Have been to Andy's many many years ago, great to see it still going and still serving wonderful fresh food. Oh to be in those Greek islands right now. Cheers Gary
Fantastic stuff Jason. Oh I wish
Mousaka one of my favorite mediteranian dishes, by far! We have a couple of decent Greek places who really do it justice too.
Also, some places skimp on shrimpt these days. So many are so small these days. Good to see full sized, fresh shrimp like those being served.
It's a delicious dish
Another fascinating review. Well done again, Gary. I know you have a tough job, but someone has got to do it!
It's a very tough job at times!! Wouldn't wish it on anyone... lol! Thank you and have a wonderful weekend
Greek restaurants cooking Mediterranean food are always a culinary treat and positive experience. And to think they gave the western world the pre-Socratics, Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle and the Stoics too!
Love Greek food
You're showing the world that there's better higher food in England besides just fish and chips shops, not that there's anything wrong with those.
Thank you. Lots of superb cuisines in the UK
Most of the World know that already….only Americans don’t! 🤫🤫😃
We all like fish and chips but it's never been seen as a special meal.
One of my favourite restaurants ever. Whenever I'm on a stopover with work, I eat here! They always remember you too, just like in Greece.
That is absolutely fantastic to hear. And I agree it’s a fantastic restaurant.
I like the way you do these reviews Gary.👌Keep it up!
That is very kind to say thank you very much
Everything looked quite delicious!
Absolutely Bill 💯💯
That does it, Im coming to the U.K. for

Hi Gary, great video's mate, keep them coming. Myself and a few friends went to Andy's on your recommendation, and I must say we were extremely impressed with the food and the staff. Great shout Gary... Martin from London.
That is fantastic to hear and thank you very much for letting me know, Martin
Darn it, 2nd time watching, 2:05 am, and I am drooling !!! You are blessed Gary, keep enjoying your eats and HI ! Mr Cameraman !
I really really enjoyed this one, Linda x🇺🇸🇺🇸
Getting a 10 Star from Gary means the place will be impossible to just pop in
Lol never, they're very busy without me no doubt
Lovely Day.... Grey and Cloudy. I feel like the UK is in an abusive relationship with the weather and don't expect better.
Lol it was warmer than I'm used to
Guess this goes off the charts gary..
It was sensational
🙄
A delightful review, Gary. Also, nice to see you use the 10* at last. Andy's is no doubt sought out especially by the Greek and Mediterranean community, who appreciate such excellent fare being served in London. Your review is also a massive shout out to established family run restaurant businesses who take pride in their offering and standards. Marvellous. 👍
That’s very kind and I’m so pleased it was that good especially as it’s a family run business
Well said Laura, you have figured me out lol
Wow, you caught a bike thief on camera 👍🏼😎
@@GaryEats I think Andy meant the kid on the bike who zoomed around the corner whilst you were doing your intro before you turned around.
I’ve only just seen that wow
At last a 10⭐️, and well deserved. The food looked terrific and very much the way the Greeks would serve it at home for a special occasion. What great value too. Friday/Saturday night there would be absolutely buzzing to create an even better experience with friends or family. Great review Gary. Opa!! 😊🇬🇷😊
I fully agree I couldn’t fault the restaurant absolute quality all round
LET'S GO! 🇬🇷
As always!!!
Gina's Dad was always cooking the Lamb Souvlaka over charcoal, & that smell is still with me to this day - I'd never had food like it, until I made friends with Gina, & it opened up the world's cuisines to me! 👍
My mouth was literally watering as you ate the food, & the salad looked exactly how Gina's mum made it for us! Lol
As for the Lamb Souvlaki, she would make a marinade with virgin olive oil, fresh squeezed lemon juice, minced garlic, chopped fresh rosemary, thyme, & parsley, & fresh grated black pepper, with a pinch of grated sea salt - she insisted it had to be Greek sea salt, & they'd get packages of different foodstuffs unavailable in England, in those days, from family members who stayed there, in Cyprus! Lol
I've always loved those flavours ever since, especially when i use that delicious salty Feta in a chunky salad! Lol
I really hope this brought you back some wonderful memories thank you very much as always and please have a wonderful week Katy
Wow, it looked amazing. I like mousakka a lot. The lamb looked so yummy too. Thanks for the video Gary.
Thank you as always this was just so good 😊
Look before you turn.. 😂
I'm a muppet
And it looks amazing, too. Nowadays worth an extra-applause: the absolutely fair prices! Will definitely head there with the family soon, thanks for your recommendation, Gary! 🙏😊
You won’t be disappointed this is a fabulous restaurant
I love this show…….❤🙂….going to London in October and will give Andy’s a visit…..Gary is always beautifully dressed!
That’s very kind to say, Betty thank you very much x
Love greek food its just so delicious thanks gary and your son for sharing i give this a 10 ❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉
This was a wonderful restaurant one I highly recommend Janis ❤️
What a great but almost sad story Bob
Nice to see you tackling some Greek food Gary and especially in a such a great taverna. Yet again the best turns out to be in a workaday environment with no fanfare or pretention. All the food looked fabulous and I'm not surprised it tasted the same way. I've not seen this quality of Greek food since I lived, (of all places), in Germany, not Greece, where I found a lot of excellent tavernas. I think it definitely deserves its star rating, and I wish I'd known about it when I last visted Camden.
If you’re ever in the area I cannot recommend more highly 👌
