    So I got a chance to see cherries on the trees before harvest. How many cherries come from one blossom? I saw what appears to be multiple cherry stems coming from one attachment to the branch. Do the blossoms create multiple cherry stems/cherries?

      A single bud can produce from 1-4 cherries. 4 2-3 are the most common. 4s are the sign of a great crop!

    It's raining Cherries. I'm just curious with the face covering. I know that it's got nothing to do with covid. The only reason I can think of is the dust?

    • @PomesandStones
      @PomesandStones  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes it’s not Covid! It’s sun and dust! 100 degrees outside and the guys wear masks and long sleeve shirt or sweatshirt to keep the sun of their skin!

      Tart Montmorency cherries!

      This makes my little 7 tree operation seem puny, lol! I grow tart cherries, 5 Montmorency, a Meteor, and a Northstar here in Madison, Wi. Tart cherries are quite perishable,, and they have to go from the tree to the freezer the same day. We pick by hand over the course of a week to 10 days. They must be washed, sorted, and pitted before going into freezer bags. Late frosts and drought can really affect harvest. It's a fun and enjoyable hobby for me. I make wine from the cherries, popular with friends and neighbors!

    • @PomesandStones
      @PomesandStones  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes a lot happens in a very short time after they are harvested from the trees. There are so many things that can be done with the cherries! Hobby or a job it’s great to watching something starts from nothing but a bud in the winter to an actual fruit that can be pulled from the tree and eaten!

      @@PomesandStones I thought so. My favorite pie, after rhubarb. My neighbor has one of these trees in his yard in Delaware and I get to harvest them each year. (the hard way) I have one in my yard but it doesn't do that well. Only a few cherries each year. Do I need another tree? His is across the road about 200 ft. away.
