Both steps followed. Frank I've had some luck removing shrink wrap on gatefolds by sliding it off in one piece then carefully slipping it back on. Worth a try if you are going to cut it off anyway..

I’m in on this…. Frank, what I do with the hype stickers is this, I place a sponge with really hot water with shrink side on top of it and wait some 30 +/- secs which helps loosen/soften the glue. Most of the time the sticker peels right off….
