I am a happy owner of this game and Rainbow Bell Adventures. I don't know why, but every time I hear the soundtrack of this game, it makes me want to cry. Maybe it reminds me of the good times of my teenage years.
This is an amazing score attack run. These are some nice dodges and some well planned bell grabbing. One of the best thing is you don’t spam punch and only use it when you have to or when dealing big damages. Most people will just spam punch to get rid of the bullets. This is show how well you are familiar with this game and you have good confidence on your dodging skill. Really this is a great skilled playthrough that is at the same time very entertaining to watch.
Hell yeah, Bill Rizer my favorite Twinbee Pilot. I remember playing Evolution Skateboarding and I made a Bill Rizer avatar that could looks like the Shattered Soldier incarnation of the character, of course I named him as Bill Rizer, that is pretty cool because Bill is my favorite human character from all times. About this game, of course is cool, Gradius lll, Axelay and this, the crown for Konami dominate the snes.
the boss at the end is approaching gunstar heroes level of mulit jointed bosses. no slow down the whole game either. this is a game the genesis would struggle to duplicate, because it seems to be using A LOT of color
Konami really dropped the ball by releasing both the Parodius & Pop n' Twinbee Series only in both Japan and the U.K. These games are great fun! Why not release them here in the U.S. ? It makes *NO* sense.
I can only imagine they didn't think it would be popular here? I dunno how well Stinger sold in the US, but I think it was the only home version of a Twinbee game in America

Why you ask? Parodius has injokes that western gamers likely would not understand, plus the Uncle Sam Eagle boss would have to have been altered as some snowflakes would find it offensive. As for Twinbee, outside of Stinger, the series was never released in the US, Bells and Whistles, aka Detana Twinbee was released outside of Japan, but likely never saw the light of day in most US arcades. Plus at the time, anime wasn't huge, and it's anime style look might not have gone well with US audiences outside of a few of us.
Light (the boy) and Pastel (the girl), not even called by their names in this PAL release, but as Twinbee and Winbee instead, ugh. If the baby, Mint (the 1 year old baby) were a pilot in this game, guaranteed he would've been called Gwinbee, after the green ship.

I have a friend a year older than me, grew up on these same games that I did, won't play them as he says they are too hard. Instead he just keeps buying modern games, yet has his old games still around, just boxed up and stored in a closet.

Time passes and you remember how fun it was, dig it out of the closet, play with it again for a day, then put it back in the closet for another eight months or years

Haha well, I don't want to seem too immodest, but I think I'm pretty good. After you learn enough games, the rest start to become much easier. Skills transfer nicely in these old games where the mechanics are fairly similar between games. I do spend a lot of time practicing some before I'm good enough to beat them reasonably well. No save states or cheats though.
Beautiful game, but lacking the ground powerup oomph of an arcade Detana Twinbee or the latter Twinbee Yahoo. The music however, far from lacking, great soundtrack. Proud to have the Japanese version in the collection.

The difficulty is not made for 5 year olds though, this game can get quite difficult. That 1 life and one lifebar and limited continues thing would frustrate a kid, especially if they aren't patient at practicing a game till they learn it.
The game is great and challenging as fuck, definitely... However, being honest, this story behind why we're doing all of this, m8??? Sorry, Not really a fan of it, sadly. And THAT is putting it all nicely. The story behind all this alone makes me prefer both Gradius III and Axelay over it, as a result. Still a great game we Americans should have gotten alongside those 2 to actually play, regardless.
The old man you see at the beginning, he bumped his head and thinks he's an evil scientist. His niece, the little blond girl, Madoka asks for the pilots Pastel and Light to help knock sense back into her uncle. Sure it's not the deepest or most serious storyline in the world, but it doesn't really have to be, nor does it always have to be a serious story.
