Even if you aren't a huge fan of the sport, I really recommend going if you have the opportunity!! it's very VERY different from going to games in the states. I hope you enjoy Xx!!! Let me know your thoughts, and tag me in your IG stories (if you have it)
I'm just starting to organize an Asia Baseball Tour. I speak Mandarin and thus want to go to a game in Taiwan. I found your video incredibly helpful - thanks so much for sharing and hope this season's games in Japan can be even more lively!
Hiroshima Carp has a special history among NPB teams. That is, the team was founded with donations from Hiroshima citizens who wished to recover from the damage caused by World War II, especially the atomic bombing. Today, the team is sponsored by MAZADA, an automobile manufacturer, but all Hiroshima citizens support the team as strongly as if they were the owners of the team.
*I went to a Tokyo Giants game on my first trip to Japan and had so much fun! Was such a memorable experience, everything from the fan chants (with drums), beer girls, cheerleader's, mascots, etc. Definitely going again next time I'm there during a season game.*
I went to a game in Tokyo and it was so much fun! I stood in the bleachers and sang chants the whole game even though i didn’t know a word i was singing. Definitely a huge highlight of my trip!
WOW!! I've always kinda wondered about baseball games in Japan, but I've never had the nerve to actual attend a game so this video is such a fantastic insight! I'm especially amazed at those beer girls!! How on earth are they able to run around with those kegs on their backs??? Thank you again for this wonderful and informative video!
I went to a Yakult Swallows game in Tokyo and it was a great experience. They ask who you are cheering for as home team is 1st base side and visitors all go the third base side. was so much fun.
Baseball here is so much fun! Ended up with tickets in the Hawks cheer section once (home game), which meant getting up for every cheer, and being bombarded by flags and trumpets -- great fun, noisy as it was!
Thank you for featuring Japan's baseball game. Missed it! I agree they are super fans, it was my first baseball game experience back in 2019, we were cheering for Chiba Lotte Marines at Zozo Marine Stadium, I love how they flashed the cheers on the screens so everyone can join in. My least favorite part was the balloons, because I had a hard time inflating them 😅. We had so much fun, we didn't notice that it was already 12 midnight, we got home at 1 a.m. 😅 FYI Basketball is the popular sport here in the Philippines. I wasn't so interested at first, but by the middle of the game I was already high fiving people I don't know 😂 Japanese baseball Fans are the best!
Omg I can't believe you experienced that. Watching this I'd want to go as well 🥰 I can totally relate to the gift shop part. I love the food options. The mascot was so cute 💜👍🏽
The Koshien tournament is great. I just got back from a 6 week trip to Japan and the tournament was being played while I was there. The games are also televised on NHK. Super exciting and the fans really get in to it.
Potato Lovers is such a dream come true😋 So cool to see a baseball game in Japan, it made me excited to watch. I can’t imagine not being able to scream in excitement, must’ve been so hard.
I've never been to a game in Japan, but I've been to a few Brewer games here in the states, and it's a very different atmosphere when compared to watching it on TV. The energy is really contagious and not boring at all.
I'm so happy about this video! When we are so desperate to go to Fukuoka (I'm from the UK and my brother in law lives there) it's on our to-do list and my children are so excited!
Have you ever noticed that Hiroshima Carp's mascot "Slyly" is very similar to Philadelphia Philie's "Philie Phanatic. It's because they have the same designer.
I LOVE baseball and this looks so fun. Some teams do have keg refills, I got one at dodger stadium a couple years ago. But I also love when the vendor will just hurl a can at you.
Looks amazing! I would always see everything while taking a grocery trip to Costco. Hiroshima trip is always a must on the weekends if we want something different from the country
Too funny you went to a Carp game! A famous professional wrestler is a huge fan of theirs and it looks like the back of him at 5:19!! That would be crazy if it's actually him. The Carp made merchandise that's collaborated with him, too!
I went to Japan in Feb 24, I have another vacation coming up in November, I wonder if I should go back to Japan and catch a game in Hiroshima, or go to another country I have never been and just visit Japan again next year? I realize they won't be playing in November but I can still go to the team store
Japanese baseball reminds me of college sports with the crowd singing and playing instruments. Sad to hear that it's banned because of Covid. Hopefully it'll be allowed relatively soon as that's part of the experience when going to a game. Also they say no cheering but do they really enforce it? It'll be hard not to cheer and we did see some people cheer. Or is that rule a fake rule but just have it to help prevent people from spreading it? Also, do you still have to give the balls back if you catch one? Or are they allowing fans to keep it for now because of Covid? I miss Japanese baseball. Only went as a kid when I visited my relatives. I think if I went now, the experience would be totally different. Lastly, that shot with the Shinkansen at 4:28 was really cool. Thanks for sharing, take care
@@heratlas You gone to the Koshien stadium in Osaka? That thing crowded with Hanshin fans are a must go. If you didn't yet probably the next year you can do it once everybody gets the vaccine. I have been in Hiroshima, they have crazy fans too. But Hanshin is another level.
@@isamuominae it was when they came to Hiroshima to play the carp!!!! It was such a good time but I would really like to go to a game at another stadium too!
@@heratlas I really advice you go there. From where you live I believe a highway night bus should be enough to travel to Osaka. Osaka is really good to spend some days, their Okonomiyaki is very tasty too and a bit different from Hiroshima. That city is not famous for ramen for example, but one of best ramen that I ate in my entire life is in Osaka. Kinryu Ramen in Dotombori region where the famous Glico runing man neon is located, and that insane tasty ramen only cost 600 yen... a priice that is impossible to find here in Tokyo/Kanto region. The Hanshi Tigers shop inside the Hanshin department store in Osaka is incredible. Put every other rival team shops in shame including Giants and Carp, is a must go. The amount of products and variety of Hanshin Tigers goods is out of bounds. Close to the Koshien stadium they have a Lawson convenience store with Hanshin themed, very similar of what I and you saw close to the Mazda stadium in Hiroshima with the Lawson Carp store. Near to this stadium too there is a beef bowl chain shop Yoshinoya (the only one with Hanshin colors) that have two exclusive take out menus based on Hanshin Tigers. Is the only place in Japan (and world) that you can order them. I can't wait go back to Osaka, I hope the new year eve I will go there again. Locals are very friendly, their obachans are funny and unique too comparing to the rest of the country.
Caitlin, how much were the tickets to a game? I agree that the cultural aspect of seeing how the crowd performs (for a US person) would be as interesting as the different style of play of the game. I used to play and actually got scouted, but then found that girls were more interesting :-)
I love baseball, but going to pro games in the states, you see a lot of people who aren’t even paying attention to the game, and they’re constantly up and down going to the bathroom, going to get more food or beer. It’s very annoying if you’re there to see the game. I love how enthusiastic the Japanese fans are!

This is my hometown. I miss it.
Usually the stadium is so loud in the middle of a game.
I can't wait for covid to be over so we can all cheer the way we used to!!

When I go to their website it says you have to buy tickets in person:( My family lives in Hiroshima and I would love to go someday
That’s either because of COVID or cure ticket sales! Usually (and at least in the past) you can go to their home website ❤️❤️

100% if those recycling bins/garbage cans were here, everyone just throws it into whatever bin. sad but true

They have organized cheers in the states….
And there’s people that walk in the stands and sell drinks and snacks
Remember when no yelling or high fives were allowed 😆
