Ty im going full time in a brand new 30 footer. Its got 2 30 lb tanks. I plan on only using electric heaters. Occaisional stove and oven usage. So basically just water heater, dishes and showers, one person 3 showers a week. It should last a long time id think

Yes, your propane should last quite a while.

I am sure you know by now but if you long term anywhere for your full time - they put you on a site with electric meter - thus you pay a camp fee plus your electric usage. Heating off electric tends to be more expensive than propane.

This was a super helpful breakdown that quelled my anxiety of just running a propane water heater in the tiny house we're almost done building. Though I was going to be filling both tanks every week, now I think it will be more than a month between refills. 😅

I have a 10ft pickup camper and only going to use for refrigerator . I have 2 tanks that are 20lb each . How long do you think the propane will last us ? Thanks

I have a cuestion. Is it better to leave the water heater always on, or only turn it on when I'm going to use it

I have a question bc last year my propane furnace could run a week off propane before needing a refill. Now this year I can only run it for about 2 days before it runs dry. Obviously this is a cost concern bc I'm spending almost quadruple on propane this year compared to last year just to stay warm in this negative temperatures.

1400 BTU an hour for fridge and it's a constant so 24 hours you had about 33,000 BTUs plusso technically speaking your heat is not going to be the thing that uses the most of your propane it's going to be your fridge

Good observation, the fridge is a hard one to compute as it does not run all the time. So if the draw is 1400 BTU in an hour using that example, but with the insulation and fridge staying cold, it may only run for 15 minutes or so per hour. Given the draw would only be during the runtime, it is hard to compute as there are many factors such as outside temperature, inside temperature, desired fridge temperature, etc... I have run our fridge on propane for over 20 days and have not had it run out.

I have 2 100lb tanks hooked up to my travel trailer & only the warter heater & a 2 burner stove,
and microwave,i heat with electric, unless power goes out How Long will my 100lb tank last?
my 21ft trailer is double underpinned with reflective foam instulation the thin Foam filled like Bubble but foam not bubble.? My House has only wood Heat,i have MS 7 its Hard to carry the wood,& electric heaters its about 280 to heat 3 rms so i got this small trailer to winter in.
its nice to be warm all night, without filling the stove at 3 am.Just wondering how long 200 gallon of Propane will last & i leave the 6 gallon water heater on.

That is tough to gauge, it really depends on the outside temp, the inside temp you have it set to, do you set it down at night or when you are away?
The best way to test is to use your trailer normal on a 20 lb propane tank until it is out. Then you can multiply that by 5 and you would know how long a 100 lb tank will last. Finally double that since you have two and that will give you a rough answer.

What if you only use the propane for 1 -2 meals being cooked a day? How long could you get it to last then?

    • @TheSavvyCampers
      @TheSavvyCampers  4 ปีที่แล้ว

Probably a long time. We used our heater, refrigerator, oven, and burners for about 14 nights and only burned through 2.8 gallons of propane.

    • @noahriding5780

@@TheSavvyCampers Wow. That's pretty good. To get that good of efficiency, did you have to do timers on how long you'd use those items? And what do you reccomend for time using those to get optimum efficiency?
      Thanks.

@@noahriding5780 No, I did not time it. As far as usage, it is not like everything is on at the same time, so the heat may actually be on for an half hour to an hour a night for the nights that got cold, cycling when the thermostat drops below the desired temperature. As far as cooking, we did do a lasagna in the oven for about an hour, and used the burners for maybe a few minutes to cook eggs. Once again, not every day.
If you have double propane tanks, the best route for you to take is to use one until it's gone before switching to tank #2. You then will have a good idea about how long it will last at your usage levels.
