Hey Anna! I'm currently a male BSW student at KU's satellite campus in Kansas City. I'm loving it so much! I'm super happy you mentioned what you did at the end about men in social work as that was something I struggled with earlier on when seeing that I was literally the only guy in my classes. But from talking to my professors, classmates, and hearing you talk about it, I'm feeling much more at place and confident in being a social work student. I just found you a few days ago and I'm very happy I did. For as much time as I spend on TH-cam, I'm glad I now have a fantastic social work channel/community to be a part of! So thank you, you're doing such a great job 😁
Hi Matthew!! I'm originally from Columbia so close-ish to KC. MIZ though🙃 I'm so glad you're feeling confident as a social work student. Social work is definitely a profession where men are overlooked but are so so crucial. I'm glad you found my channel, too!! I'm so glad you're here :) If you're looking for any other social work content, too, I suggest Social Work Scrapbook (she's a school social worker but covers all kinds of topics), Ryan Elizabeth (vlogs as an MSW foster care case worker), and Megan Muise (not a social work degree, but she's a foster care case worker, too)
I saw the trial of Gabriel Hernandez and it was crazy, so emotional, so sad I cried like the entire season. This video was amazing I even learned a couple things as well. I would love more videos like this and it does suck that like social workers are known for just taking kids I Remember once in school someone was like “oh so you wana ruin families” I was like 🙄 what? Lol ugh so annoying 😭
I'm so happy to find another social work youtuber here! Haha. Thanks for sharing this. So many people still ask me what a social worker actually does, which is fair enough since we can do so many things in so many different roles/settings! We definitely need more exposure (and more appreciation I think). Anyways love your videos!😊❤
if you look up the state you're wondering about + title protection, it'll usually take you to any title protection legislation (if there is any) in that state!
Hi Ana, hope your day has gone well. my name is Jackie and I'm in my junior year in my BSW and then I too will be getting my MSW. I want to thank you so much for your channel I have been watching you now for about since this past summer and so enjoy and your context. Tonight I have my field placement for spring and I am getting really nervous. I'm also a Mom of 3 young men, A veteran and now giving back to my community. And thank you bc after following you and your internship I have decided that I will start with juvenile detention hmm like someone I know here, thank you, and then for when I do my MSW's field placement I want to do it with the military as maybe working with the families of the soldier, the soldier deploys all is good bc that is where I will be coming in to ensure the family is taken care and the soldier can handle his buis without the worry of how their family is doing while they are away from the homefront. Ana, I know I am long-winded but I just want to tell you the difference that you have made in my journey into the world of social work. have a wonderful weekend and by the way maybe now that you are a full flesh tutor hmm you can tutor me now lol lol. Say hi to your playmate, not your other half bc that would mean that you are incomplete and you are far from that. I love Savannah especially down by River street I believe that's the name but I know it is haunted for days.
Hi Jacqueline!! yay for social work students!!! good luck in your field placement. all the areas of social work you mention sound so great to work in. I never pictured myself working in corrections and yet here I am :) I'm so glad you're part of this community and I hope you have a wonderful weekend as well!!
