This iteration of the prius looks more like a saturn than any other that I've seen

    Step 1: Press the brake.
Step 2: Press the Engine Start Button
Step 3: Press the Start Stop Button (you may need to hold this for several seconds until it shuts off)
Step 4: Put vehicle into gear.

One nice thing about full EV's or any level of electrification is that it spreads out the R&D efforts over multiple companies, so while the auto companies can focus on making great cars that take advantage of the new packaging opportunities of EV's, battery companies can focus on improving the battery tech, power density, cost, and software companies can focus on the interaction and management between the two. I used to be a die hard petrolhead, and used to laugh at the Leaf, (now I just cringe, but nod respectfully) . But it wasn't until I started using an EV everyday that I realized what a waste most cars are. I mean do you really need 500hp @ 18mpg or a 4X4 lifted diesel pick-up to drive to work?? (unless you actually use it for work)
Granted I made this move now that I have 3 kids and not a lot of free time to go to the track anymore. But honestly I find driving the e-Golf MORE exciting in commute traffic than in any gas car. And one of the reasons I like it so is because it's quick, quiet, solid because it's not rattling it's self to pieces all the time, doesn't smell, costs near nothing to maintain, and can still take a decent corner when I feel the need. It's no Golf R, but even that would be overkill for 90% of driving. And unlike Gas, the power for an EV will only keep getting cleaner and can come from what ever source you choose..... yes you get to choose! (Grid power, solar, wind, hydro, etc...) So battery tech has so many alternate technologies in the works right now, from salt water, to graphine, that they won't always be the same chemistry. Meanwhile gas... is gas... and has been for 100 year, minus lead but added chemicals for cleaning the crap due to dirty nature of burning things..
I'm not blind that they don't work for everyone NOW, and that it's not the ONLY solution, but for many like me, it makes very logical sense. And my kids thank me.

frankly i wouldn't mind the start stop in a manual car. how mercedes does it is that it starts when you push in the clutch. but i don't know what's the impact of this system on the starter motor and cogs/flywheel and also on the battery and wiring, alternator. you might put back in parts what you save on fuel. sometimes the traffic is so bad that i drive home on clutch alone.

Something that my 14 ram should have right now that it doesn't is text to speech where i press a button and say my message and the vehicle uses my phone to send the message. turns out newer 2016 has the feature but you have to pay to use it.

Thus far from what I've read and from my own limited experience Ford's weakness right now is their transmissions.

I drove a 2016 normal Prius for 4.5 months and .....eewwwww... Looks wise this is a tiny bit less ugly, but still a wooof.. If the EV mode is anything like the normal Prius it must be the worst thing for EV sales ever.... while good that it will get people used to plugging in and driving without gas (for a tiny bit) it is also a boring drive... slow, lifeless and scared of corners... While full EV's are fun, fast, and well handling cars. I was VERY happy to turn in the Prius and get home to my lovely all electric VW e-Golf! Mild Hybrids are a short sighted crutch, while I understand the cost aspect to them, they add tons of complexity while full EV's are simple mechanics, much fewer mechanics and battery prices will drop sharply soon. While gas prices are bound to jump up and down and always will.
Every bit of electrification helps, but not if it further delays a wider adoption of full EVs...

25 MILES ON ELECTRIC ONLY FOR A HYBRID IS PATHETIC. 80 mile hybrids on electric are the future. WHY??? Because most travelling is done between work and home does not go above 60 miles (full stop) for most family cars in Europe, etc. Meaning driving to work is usually under 30 miles one way, it then take 30 miles or so to get back. This all adds up to 60 miles or so. So just to be on the safe side - a 80 to 120 mile electric hybrid with a backup engine is the way forward for hybrids. 25 miles electric is crap car.

The typical commute is much less than 30 mi one-way..
