  • Welcome to the 'Absolute World' residential twin-Towers - also known as 'The Marilyn Monroe Towers'. These skyscrapers are quite famous and iconic with their characteristic shapes and height of more than 50 floors!
    The elevators have touch-screen fixtures and the low-rise elevator showed some rather strange behavior. On the way up to floor 50, it stopped at floor 14, did not open the doors, and then changed direction for a down-call from floor 8.
    Information
    • Location: 60 Absolute Avenue, Mississauga, ON, Canada
    • Manufacturer: ThyssenKrupp Northern
    • Year: completed in 2010-2012
    • Type: Traction, digital controller
    • Capacity: 1160 kg (2500 lb) or 16 persons
    • Stops: 60
    Recorded 15. September 2014

    Lived here for almost 2 years, love the building. The elevators however, can be very temperamental. The 2 you rode, no longer announce the floors and the one for the high rise only recently had the directional arrows and chimes turned back on. It should also be noted that we actually have a 55th and 56th floor, which are locked off. Only way you can get to them is with a FOB and you have to use the keypad not the touch screen.

      I assume the 55th and 56th floor could be penthouses... i have no idea, just taking a guess...

    These are really interesting because ThyssenKrupp Northern elevators are actually originally from Canada with these fixtures. These are definitely a very unique installation!

    These are ThyssenKrupp Northern, judging by the chimes, fixtures, and voice. The touch screen is very interesting. I believe there is a hydraulic elevator like that in Vancouver...

      TheElevatorGuy87 Turkish Elevators Thanks. All the articles online about these towers also confirm it and mention ThyssenKrupp Elevator as sub-contractor. The "Nothern" brand is that for Canada only?

    • @TheElevatorGuy87
      @TheElevatorGuy87 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Heritage Elevators I believe that Northern was a company bought out by ThyssenKrupp,
      and ThyssenKrupp kept the ThyssenKrupp Northern name on all the elevators in Canada with these fixtures, although I believe I have seen a video of an installation with TKN fixtures in the US.

      More likely the touch screen is by Touch-To-Go Technologies (website: www.touchtogo.ca/)

    These elevators are quite fast! But, it is very strange that it changed direction during it's way up. I personally don't like that, the lift has passed the 8th floor, so it should run it's course and go to the top floor first, and then go back. It's just strange. Is it a feature or a software bug? Those elevatrors are quite buisy.

      dykodesigns2yt I also really didn't like that (it ruined my solo ride to the top floor) and i also thought it was very strange

      +Heritage Elevators I think the elevator cancelled the call to 50 when you reached P6, as many modern elevators cancel calls when they reverse direction.

  • @QuarioQuario54321
    @QuarioQuario54321 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Nobody seemed to notice that 50 went out on P6 which explains why it went to 14 before going to 8.

    Very nice elevators! Using touch screen as the inside floor buttons is a very brilliant idea. Too bad they use single sliding doors, not my favorite for high rise elevators ah well :-/. I also hate those chimes.
    Weird that one of the elevators suddenly stopped halfway then changed direction. I had a similar thing like that in 2009 when I rode a modernized Hitachi elevators (mod by KONE in 2005) in Singapore. It stopped on the 9th floor for a few seconds then recalled to the 2nd floor, it scares me a bit. Probably caused by a glitch on the controller. Liked this video as usual.

      Thanks. I also thought that the stop and change of direction was really strange

    • @swplandry
      @swplandry 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That stop and change direction was because 50 went out when you reached P6, I live here and they do that all the time if the destination selected is in the opposite direction the elevator is currently traveling.

    Chimes are questionable and the single speed door instead of center opening option isn't the best, and the indicator is too ahead of the elevator position. Aside, not bad.

    Nice fast elevators! Does anyone know what Swing Service is?

    • @swplandry
      @swplandry 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I live here, swing service allows the elevator to be called from any floor. For example, if 2 of the 3 high-rise elevators are off line, the 3rd elevator of the low-rise bank can be switched to service all the floors.

    That chime is so nasty sounding. It just sounds like a weird squeak from the elevator. If you get the chance in New York City try and get a tour to the 103rd floor. To get to it there is an old hand crank elevator. I don't know much about it but I know it was there in 2003. Also Tulsa, OK has some pretty awesome elevators in it's downtown. There is also the CityPlex towers in Tulsa that are pretty cool.

    • @HeritageElevators
      @HeritageElevators  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      x9x9x9x9x9 I agree with you about the chimes.

      I would actually be surprised if they took out that elevator. It seemed like they kept it just to keep at least one still running in new york.
