Look great. My 2022 Bagger has been awesome for the last 14000 miles. I don't understand the initial reception to the bike by journalists in the USA, although maybe the bagger had better suspension and ground clearance than the other models. Glad to see BMW sticking with the model line. I think a lot of people don't understand what it is. I grew up drooling over the boxer twin Beemers around the Bay Area of California. It's a modern copy of an old BMW not a harley. It's the Bentley/7 series/S Class version of a motorcycle. One thing that you should do is bring back the service manuals for all your bikes. Don't trip over nickels to pick up pennies. Remember when your BMW came with a really good manual and a great tool kit?
It's the industry trend now to discurrage owners from working on their own bikes. Here in europe I had my warrenty void by only changing oil myself. Luckily Kawasakis are relyable and I didn't need to klaim the warrenty. Dealers here don't even sell basic tools, even to adjust mirrors and the handlebar angle you need to go to them :) The good thing on the other hand is that bikes in general are much more relyable nowadays. Did you go on multi day trips on your R18? I'm curious how good is the cruiser sitting position for long trips. On maxi scooters my lower back starts to heart after a couple of hours, the problem which I don't have on my Kawasaki with a slightly lean forward sitting position. I didn't try cruiser motorcycles so I'm curious how good they are for many hours on the road.
You say you have listened but to who. New seat and new silencers presumably to cover some emissions law in Europe. Hardly ground breaking and what is needed to ignite sales. Be bold while Harley is struggling. More power options more radical designs, R20? I am afraid this second iteration will have the same sales issues as all R18s to date. They will not sell.
My guess is since boxer engines are only made in Berlin, a small displacement would not be profitable. I think the only way they could do it is make it in India or Thailand and I don't think they want to do that with the boxer.
I own the R18 with my 2023 100 year anniversary model and absolutely love it. Really like what you did with the Refresh model and the enhancements. The comfortable seat and rear suspension upgrade will be welcome for sure. hoping you make a seat option upgrade for the 100 year anniversary that will be made of the new material. Also, would really love to see an option for the R 18 to have small leather saddlebag options where the brackets are well hidden. Very similar to the iconic Brough Superior. WISH LIST- R18RT ! 😎 Nice work BMW.
Thank you so much for your kind words and for being a part of the BMW Motorrad family with your R 18 ! We're thrilled to hear that you're enjoying the bike and appreciate the feedback on the Refresh model's enhancements.
I’ve got a 2023 100 Year model as well. Love the bike. These new tweaks on the refresh look good. Nice to see BMW is continuing to evolve this great bike.
I’ve always loved the R18 but I would love to see it come in a bobber variant. I feel that manufacturers like Indian and triumph have great bobber options and I would love to see this from BMW!
Dear BMW. Dear Markus Flasch. Although I really like your heritage range. Can you bring out a successor to the R1200S with your new 1300 Boxer ? Thanks in advance
Hey there, spoked wheels are indeed an option you can select. 👍For the sound, we recommend visiting a local dealer after the market launch to arrange a test ride. You'll get the full experience there! 🏍️🔊
I just want the engine, the open shaft, premium seat and a robust bmw emblem on the fuel cap. WE WANT THE < R20! > Blacked Out or Aventurine Red Metalic. Aah heaven mate, just imagine the R20 in aventurine red metallic!
I rented R18 b. In Germany last year 2024 and it was great. Except for one thing the saddle bags are small and don’t have enough space compare to other bikes.
Definitely an improvement over the original 2021 version. Much better looking exhaust, what is the lean and the knee angle? These are the questions that many cruiser-riders might want to know.
Me adhiero a la queja de otros poseedores , para cuando la solución del problema de la marcha atrás?…..Ya han pasado varios meses. Supongo que en los nuevos modelos este problema ya está solucionado
Nice art, i am going to purchase a used R18 which i find it so beatiful. i have 2 bikes, one is a Vespa GTS which i love touring around Europe with it and the other is a Yamaha r25 which i use it for small commutes and having fun. In the past i did own a harley 883 which i find it quite shaky :). I do consider this bike as a Art piece.
Hello there, Thank you for sharing your enthusiasm and love for motorcycles with us! It's fantastic to hear about your diverse collection and your decision to purchase a used R18, which you consider a piece of art. To truly appreciate the R18 family, we recommend getting in touch with your local BMW Motorrad dealer. They can provide you with more insights on availability and arrange a test ride so you can get the full experience of this remarkable motorcycle firsthand. If you have any questions or need further assistance, feel free to reach out. Best regards, Jonas from the BMW Motorrad Team
Bikes look great but there is still nothing extra there to make me move away from my Electra Glide. Now R20 on the other hand is very interesting and I can't wait to see it on the showroom floor.
Hi there! We appreciate your input. We encourage you to try out the R 18 Classic. A test ride at a local BMW Motorrad dealer after the market launch might just win you over! 🏍️
Parece uma obra de arte pronta para colocar em uma exposição de tão bonita, porém tirar uma moto assim da garagem para um passeio no fim de semana deve ser uma experiência incrível.
I find the new model year absolutely gorgeous, and I love my R18 that I proudly own since 2 years. Unfortunately, during the last yearly maintenance, the BMW Motorrad workshop deactivated the gear shift at the brand's request. Five months have passed since then, and the issue remains unresolved. This hardly reflects the 'premium quality' BMW is known for. I hope that together with the new models BMW will also manage to fix already existing issues.
I have a first edition r 18, it is the only new vehicle I have bought in my life, it is super comfortable even for long distances, but the quality is no longer made in West Germany like my r100 GS 1993 or k1 1989, rust problems everywhere, cardan shaft has already broken twice, now I have got a completely new cardan transmission, my rear wheel was full of transmission oil, very dangerous, speedometer broken, tank cap... sorry but for this money you expect something different
Damn that dragon Red TC model looks well just WOW perfect colour combination. Still feels odd when your sat on it though 🤷♂️🤷♂️ from and Indian Chieftan owner 😁😁😁

Be bold while Harley is struggling. More power options more radical designs, R20? I am afraid this second iteration will have the same sales issues as all R18s to date. They will not sell.
I purchased a 2022 R18b back in late 2023 and while I appreciated how artful it was and how beautifully made it was, there were a bunch of things that BMW missed the mark upon. The clear intended target for this bike were all of the bikes from the Harley Bagger line, and for that they hit the mark. As a multiple BMW motorcycle owner I want a bike that is lighter, better performing and dynamically better than what I experienced on my R18B. I personally think that accepting liquid cooling for the R18 line for more power and reliability along with meeting the current R1300 line somewhere with regards to engine dynamics. Better balancing and power delivery would go a long way. I sold that bike and bought a K1600B to compliment my R1250GSA, but would consider another big boxer if they made those steps.
I disagree with the water cooling. Part of the benefit of a boxer is the cylinders are in the airflow. When they added water cooling to the R1200 & later it gained a ton of weight and complexity. A cruiser is all about the torque, not HP. Importantly, the R18 handles better than any Harley or Indian…. I tested both brands before I bought my R18. Sure, my R18 won’t be as quick or as good handling as my S1000R. It won’t go off-road like my GS. The K16 is a powerhouse and has a almost linear throttle, but like the R1300GS, it is so smooth as to have no soul. But the R18 has a character not available in any other BMW model. While I have 4 BMWs in my garage, my R18 Classic is the one I typically pull out for a ride.
Hi Paul, thanks for your detailed feedback. We take every comment seriously as we aim to meet our community's diverse needs. We encourage you to visit your local dealer after the launch to test the new or updated R 18 models. You might be pleasantly surprised! 🏍️

How about an 800cc boxer?
@kc95gs That would be not something new and more expensive. 500 wpuld be nice. ;)
