Autumn Inspired Earrings, Depth Guide And Scrap Slab Tutorial!

- Hey beautiful makers! Guess who? It’s me again!
This time I’m bringing you an autumn Inspired slab from start to finish - I’m not going to lie it went down a different path than I initially imagined but it worked out fab!
Please note this tutorial is focused on the slab making process, using my depth guides and a few handy tricks to use your scraps up. In the finishing process I drilled holes, sanded and used black hoop findings to finish off my autumn Inspired Earrings - what I love about these is there is no fiddling around with glue and backings which makes them super simple and fun!
All of these earrings were given to my students in their goodie bags at my Masterclass Workshops which I teach Australia wide. I’m about to go on a little break to have my babe so I will be back with some super fresh workshops next year!

Colour Recipes as promised:
Gold - 1 part Antique Gold + 1 part Gold (I think 🤔)
Navy - 4 parts Lagoon, 1 Part Royalty, 1/4 part Poppy Seed (give or take on the black)
Pastel Cinnamon with Glitter - 3 parts Igloo to 2 parts Cinnamon add a good sprinkle of fine black glitter.
Disclaimer - I’m. It the best at keeping colour recipes so feel free to jiggle the recipe to suit!

Guuurrrlll you are such an inspiration to my new born maker in me, all the way from Puerto Rico! I hate that over here we do NOT have any place where we can find all the components to make such amazing stuff you do. It’s basically all online buying and the shipping costs are ridiculous if you do the math all together. so I my self am taking it so slow as a snail o even more slow that that haha you know what I mean right. How do you get your clay out of smaller shape cutters? I am having a hard time getting them out without distorting the shape of the clay

You make the holes for the hoops before or after baking?
Do you use different brands of clay because they have the colors you want, or for different purposes?
Also if you were to mix colors from different brands would that affect the clay?

Hello! This is a silly but genuine question. Can I bake them clay in my kitchen microwave oven and then still use it for cooking purposes?
You can’t bake clay in a microwave, but you can use a bench top oven or convection oven - yes you can cook food afterwards but I would give it a quick wipe out first.
Can you list in the description the tools that you use and maybe where you got it? :) also, what clay machine do you use? I’ve heard of some people using a pasta machine, is it the same thing? :) love your videos!

No, because pricing is personal. It’s something you have to work out based on materials, expenses, time spent and what you want your profit to be. Not something I plan to share :)

I was told by a teacher that you should never mix brands. Is this true?
Good question! Absolutely not true :) Mix brands all you like but one of the things I keep an eye on is do they mix well together (In terms of their consistency) And if they have different curing times always go with the brand that has the higher temp!
