I bought the Miele W1 +T1 washer and dryer in May 2020, expecting the same perfect performance as my Miele dishwasher, but it has been a head banging experience from the start. It’s the dryer. The touch screen stops responding, so I can’t dry the clothes. I’ve had the Miele technician out twice. The first time, the technician said the dryer was fine, even though I told him the fault was intermittent. A week later, the dryer stopped altogether. Because of Covid, there is a 2-week wait for a service call. I dried my clothes on a portable line outside, while my $1,900 dryer stood inoperable. The 2nd tech replaced the touch pad control panel, and I had a month of trouble free drying. Today the touch screen stopped working again. I had to call Miele 3 times because I was disconnected after being placed on hold for extended periods of time. I asked for a new machine, and was told this was not possible until the 4th tech visit. Again I will be waiting 14 days before the tech can come out for the 3rd call. It has become clear that the only satisfaction I will get from this experience is taking a loss, buying a machine that works, and moving on. This seems to be the new Russian roulette of purchasing appliances, sometimes you win, and sometimes you get a hole in your head. I’m posting this to create a record for future buyers who want to make an informed purchase.

Have a Miele W5873 WPS which is 9kg almost 20lbs capacity. So it's smaller than your massive, poorly made American and Korean brands, but more efficient, and can hand just as much if not more. Easily wash a king size wool doona no issues. Including silks, cashmere and other dry clean only items. Experience yes. Worth it, yes.

I’m seriously considering doing the unthinkable here and changing from full sized American machines (LG) to Miele’s compact units even though I have plenty of room. The only thing I’m worried about are my king sized blankets. King sized in the US is a bit larger than king sized elsewhere, and my blankets are oversized from that (~305x305 cm) but are just layered cotton. Do you think it could handle that?

It doesn’t matter how many loads you do, this is the best machine of you have a small laundry space. It’s a workhorse and it’s quiet (unless you spin on the “Max” setting.)

He comes off as the type of salesman that steers you to whatever product he’s most comfortable selling rather than what the customer wants or needs.
I have done many filmed presentations/demonstrations in my own line of work and I know it’s harder than it seems, so I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt. But a little research, preparation, and practice goes a long way.

The dryers don't hold the condensate and "evaporate it away". What would be the point of that? You imply they allow that moisture into your home- they don't! The water either goes into the reservoir on the top right which holds several pints and is removed for emptying, or you connect the small pipe to the washer drain and the machine will pump it away. For a supposed appliance expert this guy is pretty clueless.

Great review, but Americans are the only ones in the world who can't pronounce Miele. I was born there but have been in Australia for a decade. My father got hooked on Miele appliances after using all of mine. It's pronounced Meee Luh. Not Mee Lay. My father still says Mee Lay, even after I've corrected him dozens of time! But great review and glad Americans are advertising these more. Amazing and efficient appliances. Not one issue with my 2013 models, nothing, and 2 or 3 loads a day, and the same with the heat pump dryer. Have all Miele now, dishwasher, ovens, cooktop, coffee machine, steam oven, fridge and freezers. Spent over $50k, will last at least my lifetime. Washer has both drums, inner and outer tub are stainless, cast iron counter weights, made in Germany, amazing build quality. 102kg is the weight of the washer though, they aren't lightweight. Highly recommended

The condensation from the dryer drains to the same drain as the washer does in your washer/dryer connection. Yes, there is also a tank - but most setups will see folks draining to the same drain as their washing machine.

I doesnt show how long is left of the wash?
You have to press screen manually?
Also for the longer cycles can I chose short on it to make it run for less time? I could do that on my old Miele so I’m curious.
Can I also set a buzzer to go off after a wash??? As I read reviews saying there’s no buzzer on this model which is sad

I'm considering the W1 & T1 for my small condo, but have been used to an old model that had larger cu ft for both. Does anyone know whether I'd be able to wash/dry a queen sized hypo-allergenic style "down" comforter in the 2.3 & 4.0 cu ft of these appliance? Like the kind from Ikea?

    • @tkkc2009
      @tkkc2009 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I know this is 5 months late but I would say maybe not. I have this washer and I am unable to wash a queen synthetic comforter. Miele stores will tell you "if the door shuts you can wash it" well that's great but it just goes around and around without being able to move for proper saturation and cleaning. Everything else about it has been great. It does vibrate sometimes when on spin cycle, especially on the max spin. The size if fine as far as capacity for normal loads. I can wash a full basket worth on normal and everything comes out great. Bulky items are somethings an issue. I can wash 4 large bath towels and maybe 5 or 6 thin kitchen towels no problem. I do not have the dryer so I can not comment on how it preforms.

Um- the air coming out of a condenser dryer (ventless) IS warm. That's how they work! They use cool room air to cause the water vapour in the hot moist dryer air to condense out. The dryer air is recirculated, while the now warm room air is blown back into the living space. The room air is kept separate from the dryer air, so it doesn't pick up moisture, but it certainly picks up heat. They are popular in norther Europe as the warm air is a bonus when you're paying to heat your house, but in hotter climates they don't perform as efficiently and the heat they put out can be a problem.

Greetings From Austria (Europe). Miele make the best washers, globally, look into their production, efficiency and quality. Miele is popular in all of Europe. Their dryers use heat pump technology which is basically what’s used for split air conditioning (reversed in this case). Hear pump technology can compare to gas dryers in the US. The exhaust ist not warm, people in Europe do not use their dryers to save or their heating bill 😂😂😂🤦🏼‍♀️

I have been doing my research and that’s why I started to watch this video. The guy lost me at load size. It’s the same American ignorance that most of the world laughs at us for. We used to “king” the desirability of a car if it had a tenth of a second better 0 to 60 time over its competitors. Then 2 years later that car would end up as a POS that no one wanted. This mentality of “size matters” lives on.
The W1 capacity of laundry is 17.6 pounds. That’s about 3 loads of laundry.

So, if you did the math in your head, it only worked for 3 months... Not happy AT ALL, with their product and even less with the company! If you value your money don't buy their stuff. I don't know what else to recommend since I'm stuck with this POS! But I think just about anything else is better!
