Portable Contra games hold a special significance for me. Operation C was one of 4 games I had on Game Boy (along with with Metroid 2, Final Fantasy Legend, and Final Fantasy Adventure) to help get me through my Dad's first deployment I was old enough to remember. Years later, the GBA version of Alien War and Contra 4 on DS were there to help keep me sane through my first deployment.
Funny thing is, Konami didn't even do this port - it was Factor 5! If you haven't heard of them, they're a German company responsible for most of the Turrican series after the second game (and the Amiga ports of the first two), plus the graphically impressive Star Wars: Rogue Squadron games.

This port of Alien Wars was way better than the god awful GBA port.
All things considered, this was an absolutely amazing job of a port.

@@DeskoDev Factor 5 also helped port Resident Evil 2 to the N64 and once worked on cancelled Kid Icarus & Pilotwings reboots.
The Flamethrower is the most OP weapon in this port while the favorite Crush Gun was pussied down.

The game is in hard difficulty, not Maniac. Boss 2 moves faster and shot more bullets.
Bombs in boss 3 has time to 0,3 secs.
Still, great gameplay!

Various passwords, depending of remaining lives and bombs. And a "easy" and surreal password: 4NN4. Final Stage, Max lives, Max bombs.
The Gameboy version of the Alien Wars difficulty is slightly much easier than the Snes Alien Wars but not by much.
