Miller does fine, but I'd argue a handful of rambling pop culture references (Dennis Hopper, Midnight Express, David Cronennerg, etc.) isn't necessarily comedic; more just showing off random things he remembers
"my head exploded" was hilarious, but then adding "Like a Cronenberg film" really made it hysterical. Jokes are always funnier with a lot of unnecessary references thrown in to smother the funny.
Dennis Miller got destroyed during that "suck the essence out" exchange at 3:14. Thought he was being clever, and Jiminy went in for the kill. Even Miller acknowledged the comeback.

Can you imagine Jiminy going up with today’s stars?! Chris Pratt, Tom Hiddleston, or Millie Bobby Brown?! That’d be something to see. Pratt would go along with it gleefully, Hiddleston would try to play along but be at a loss, and Brown wouldn’t be able to keep it together.
Perfect example of why you don’t try to best Jiminy Glick. He takes all of Dennis’ bad jokes, rolls them into a ball and fires them out of s cannon like the absolute genius he is. God bless this man.
Jiminy Glick is so freakin' funny! I love his interviews. The funniest ones are Nathan Lane (who can't keep it together at all), Steve Martin, Bill Maher, and Jeneane Garofalo. If you notice in this interview, Martin Short almost loses @ 1:28, and I've really never seen him do that.
Check out his interview with Lorraine bracco. She asked him a question and he gets completely stuck. But it all worked out still. That's one of my favorite interviews.

The whole point of these interviews is to see if you can get either to crack. That's a huge victory for a comedian if he can get someone to break down. The best known is Billy Crystal doing Fernando's Hideaway with Hogan and MR T. He got them real good to break character and bust out laughing.
Miller's not my favorite comedian (absolutely no denying his cleverness/intelligence, but not a huge fan of his delivery) but he absolutely plays his role beautifully, his 2 interviews with Jiminy Glick are among the very best.
