Cant believe I just watched 35 minutes of this on 2x speed to see the basset hound so I could point at it to my dog and go “look that’s you”
I was so sad when my dog showed zero interest or excitement when the American Foxhound and Beagles came on. I was like “that is us, look how exciting” - she couldn’t bother to open her eyes beyond a squint. 🤣

@@Michelle-fz7wm I called the national dog show and they said that for whatever reason the entered dog didn’t show up, maybe the dog was sick, owner was sick, etc. There aren’t backup dogs. (I was surprised there aren’t backups.)

I had miniature dacshunds for over 30 years - LOVE the breed! Very smart, and wonderful watch dogs - seriously.

I'm so proud of the Irish Wolfhound (as a biased Irish Wolfhound owner, haha). Truly, all these dogs are lovely.
I never had the pleasure of meeting one but I'm glad they are big gentle giants. I got the Irish Wolfhound as my patronus and I think watching them here made me appreciate them more.

I love the national dog shows…and animal shows etc… I have a Pit Terrier and a 4 month old Cocker Spaniel and they are too human acting and spoiled and very well taken care of. Oh my gosh a Coonhound won the Group. Wow congratulations. That is awesome and well deserved. He’s a beauty standing and on the move. So glad I took the time to watch the group today. Hooray for coonhounds.

My heart will always have a soft spot for Norwegian Elkhounds. Best dog I have ever owned, loyal, protective, friendly, stern and ever watchful. Gorgeous breed.

His call name is Conor. Shown by Breeder Owner Beth Vanderslous. His sire's call name is Wyatt, who won at the best of breed breed at the bloodhound specialty a few years ago. Conor is the spitting image of his sire Wyatt.

Watching this with my foxhound beagle curled up with me on the couch. I am obviously biased but hound dogs are the best dogs. Sure they are very easily distracted by da squirrels and da birds but are sweet and friendly and the best.
Hounds are likes the quintessential dog!!! When someone says “dog” they’re what I think of!

Which hound dog? They are all hounds. Some are sight hounds. The rest are scent hounds. The bloodhound is a scent hound.

I love how the handlers use “bait” to distract the dog while the judge is examining it.
That's not bait that's liver you make it to help showing your dog easier. They are trained on it!

I used to actively be involved in the NY show. Basenji rarely if ever show or win. The 'exotic' looking dogs are what the judges and people favor.

That Deerhound handler wasn't messing around. Are they all so stern? I have an Irish Wolfhound, if you have ever wanted a dog that is great with kids and people this is that dog. She has learned not to chase my cats, and it has been a pleasure to own one.
Didn’t know Ibizan Hounds coat was coarse. That pup is a stunner! Otterhound, Scottish Deerhound, Irish Wolfhound!
Ibizan hounds (fondly known as "Beezers") come in two coat varieties: smooth and wire haired, with wire being less common. :)

I have two. I feel the same way but then I think about what might happen if one did win. People would want to get one not knowing how much of a challenge they can be.

Had the captions on and during a moment with complete silence the captions decided to tell me it’s great coffee shop name idea “Coffee Island” I feel bad for people who actually need the captions but at least I get a good chuckle out of TH-cam’s terrible automated captions
Also idk if anyone else has this problem but every time there’s applause the captions just decide it heard “foreign” sometimes it’ll even say “foreign [applause]” do the captions think applause is a foreign practice or something?!

I always watch for the hound group. Years ago I used to show my 2 Afghan Hounds. This breed never makes it in the group because the breeders forgot to read the standard and have ruined most of the front action. This apricot Afghan Hound was not too bad, but had inadequate front action while the all the action was in the back legs. And the topline was screwy. So this is the best Afghan... Ug. That's why I stopped. Did like most of the Judges picks.
