I would wanna live in the Vale of Arryn if I was in the world of Ice and Fire. 1. I like mountains and colder weather. 2. Mountains and the Bloody Gate provide protection against invasions. (just look how the war of the 5 kings devastated Riverlands and how Vale remained unscathed.) 3. Lot of food thanks to the fertile valleys. 4. Lot of food, spices and exotic goods even in the winter thanks to Gulltown. 5. Eyrie just looks glorious. The only downside would be the mountain clans but with a big escort of knights I would have nothing to fear.
yeah, but only the major nobles HAVE a big escort of knights, if you were a commoner or even a minor noble you'd be in a lot of danger every time you travelled. Heck, even large groups get attacked, Catelyn had a large escort and they still lost quite a few knights on the way to the Eyrie... Also, you wouldn't be saying the Vale was the safest place if it was during the Arryn succession war (after the Dance of Dragons), or Robert's rebellion - the Vale sees wars too.
@@DraconimLtyeah but unless dragons are involved You would be really stupid to attack/invade the vale. Mountains just provide so much defensive advantages not to mention the availability and access to supplies while campaigning in the vale. You need a pretty large group of bodyguards which would mean you need to divert a good part of your army just to defend supply wagons from tribes let alone the knights of the Vale which is one of the most prestigious and reveared army in Westeros. So if you account for all of this the threat of war in factoring the safety of the small folk of the vale is non existent. So only thing you got to worry about is mountain tribes
@@gen169 that's the point tho, the Vale is the safest from OUTSIDE threats, but it has the biggest INTERNAL threat in the realm (outside of war time). The Mountain tribes attack anyone using the roads anywhere outside of direct castle protection! And only the Major Houses have the numbers and quality of men to deter them. Anyone else living in the Vale is in danger the moment they leave their village, and some even without leaving their village if they aren't right under a Castles walls.
House Royce is such an underrated but critical House to the modern events (not to mention other events). Without House Royce, the world would have fallen to the NK.

seriously this is a great playlist. I've been looking for a video to help discuss the smaller houses and where they would fit in within the game of thrones politics. the intro song is awesome and don't worry about the accent. if some people can't accept differences in people's english why would we ever truly assimilate.
The Arryns of Gulltown are gonna make their big power moves pretty soon everyone is forgetting that they are the real big money play makers that can financially support any claimant that benefits them should Little Robin Arryn pass away.
Probably not, and if it does - then only formally, since pirates nest is near, to the north of it, and since mountains are descending almost into the sea - it is probably a desolate place. No men would farm those lands even if they would be fertile, because of the pirates nearby and nearest lords keep with guards would be too far off.
The Baelish Keep is wrongly located, i believe. Correct me if im wrong: In the books Petyr Baelish took Sansa through BaelishKeep and they stop on they travel to the Eyre on Longball Hall. The Baelish keep and the "Littlefinger" its located on the point of the lands of House Hunter.
Little finger gets his name due to his lands being located on the smallest peninsula of the fingers. However where he located it may or may not be considered part of the fingers. But where you are placing it would put it in the Vale Proper instead of the Fingers. So who knows.
I'm a linguistic anhropologist,, and it is honestly quite interesting to me, that when you are saying a word starting with the letter W you pronounce it as if it starts with a V but then when you talk and say something that includes a V at the beginning of the word, you will say it as if it has a W at the front of the word.. What are you trying to prove, my friend?
The videos are great, it's really helpful to see where exactly the houses of Westeros are placed, and some of the stories i hear for the first time. But out of curiosity - is the narrator a Spanish speaker, or Italian speaker? Sometimes is hard to understand the names of some of the smaller houses because of the accent (i an not a native English speaker also), so it will be great if they are written, or to insert them as subtitles. I admire the effort they put in making those videos!
Greetings mate! My ethnicity - Russian. Subtitles are added btw. Just press that CC button on the player. Those are not automatically added ones, so they're good.
very well done, though perhaps just a few moments less describing the interior of a more minor house on the sisters may of made the whole flow a little better, still very very well done.
Понятно. Спасибо за видео, очень информативно. Не обращай внимания на замечания хейтеров, акцент - не главное здесь. Я вижу, что была проделана большая работа) Желаю успехов в публикации дальнейших видео)
No one, I suppose. Who would want to rule strip of land where pirates from the Three Sisters land? There are mountains between the coast and the land anyhow, so no need to guard the coast. Since that land is not fertile - I bet no lord would want it for himself. Just a pain in the arse.
I wondered this as well. You did such an awesome job of mapping out the entire Vale except for that one strip of land. I'd suggest a possibility could be House Hersy of Newkeep. The location hasn't been disclosed by Martin in canon and it's the one House of the Vale w/ an ancestral seat listed on AWOIAF that you haven't covered here. Anyway, great job! Subbed.

No one is mean for saying it sounds strange to hear this man speak. It is simply true and I can't say I am able to listen to it because every mispronunciation of every name in the book which I love is so madly frustrating. It is sad to say that this amount of dedication and work got butchered by this "small" thing. And to call someone mean for it, here is a question. Do you enjoy listening to E-books voiced by Arnold Schwarzenegger or Mickey Mouse?

Robert Baratheon: My Cersei, my Cersei... Don't lie to me. Tell me where did you sleep last night?
Is it Gearld or Gearlt, cuz my boi Gearlt is too busy fighting the wild hunt
i love your accent. you totaly deserve more subs.
Pretty sure the gatekeeper Royce you pictured is actually the guy who played Yohn Royce in the TV show...
Yup. You are right. My bad. (Nestor Royce is not depicted in the show at all, as far as I know)
ScrivaTV Is he the guy who tells the Hound and Arya that Lysa Arryn is dead, maybe? Could be? No explicit mentions of him though. True.
Ah. The Vale of Arryn.
This is some kind of inside joke?.........
I did and it's just the accent
did you just talk to yo self
What did you use to source the location of House Templeton? As I can't find any Cannon sources showing the location.
interesting how the religion of the Sisters is exactly like that of the Ironborn.
Love your videos! You should do one on the Century of Blood.
Thanks!
Great content!
Wouldn't it be Cool if Telltale made a game of thrones game where you can choose ANY HOUSE IN WESTEROS to play as?!
Cool Space Good luck with that, more than a thousand how would they program them all...

1.25 speed to listen it in normal person speech, still nice video.
You are right. It does sound a lot better at that speed.
Haha, I've already had it on 1.5 when I read this. Great minds think alike
If you can fast think. I prefer 1.0 speed.
Could you make one over the hill tribes?
Perhaps. Not a priority right now though.
@@ScrivaTV Perhaps not, but it would be cool, so little is known about them and the series and books go in so little detail.
The landmass between Baelish, the Sisters and Bellmores. Who controls that?
I had same question. Maybe many minor houses.
prolly
My guess is it's House Hersy, as newkeep is nearby
