Aww, I wish we could have seen the whole show from backstage and see how everyone gets the next set ready, how the actors run to do their costume changes, etc :(

Honestly even seeing a video from on-stage as the music starts to play and the stage-lighting fades out gives me chills. What a privilege to be on stage for that show.

This was so cool! There are so many videos of behind the scenes with the actors in broadway shows, but it's awesome to see what the stage managers do :)

This was really cool!! People do need to understand, as she said, the process is 100% collaborative and each person has a job to contribute to the show the public ultimately sees. The playwrights, composers, lyricists, are also unseen backstage - but without them there would be no show! Loved seeing and hearing the various people working backstage. Please do more videos like this in the future. 😊

i only pray to find my previous work experiences with theatre will keep me humble and grateful to hopefully work with a great group one day like this. This is why i do this. Women like you Marybeth Abel and my fav production and stage manager- Paris Rhodes remind me of the why i do this. People like you hold it ALL together! Thanks in advance!

Yep that's theatre. The more last minute the better it is because it gives you less time to think about what could go wrong. Or at least that's how I look at it.

I wonder if she can call security if she sees someone recording the show. I've heard that it's pretty easy to be caught filming the show at the Gershwin Theatre.

a steamer. You put in water then it boils it then you breathe in the vapour. It helps with the throat and vocal chords. It basically opens your throat up so you reduce strain on it when you sing which is the big trick with singing and singing like these guys do 8 shows a week.

SONSHINE!!! I used to work with her at Sight and Sound Theaters here in PA! And how comes there is always video gotta he of the bubble being prepared but never the defying gravity lift as she comes down from the end of the song? Just curious.

The term "Deck Captain" is not a term used in most professional theatres. If the production stage manager is calling the show, then they often have assistant stage managers who are involved in all the activities on the stage and are probably more similar to the "deck captain" idea you may be familiar with. If you are interested in stage management, check out Lawrence Stern's Stage Management book. Other good ones by Daniel Ionazzi, Tom Kelly, and Larry Fazio.

I actually have been told I could play a guys part very well. I have a naturally low voice and am quite well suited for the part of Fiyero. So when you see my name in shining lights as Fiyero, remember this day.

Though it is unlikely, it is not impossible! And I personally can't wait until I see a female playing a male's part. No dream is stupid, and I think it's really awesome you want to play a role many females wouldn't even think of attempting! Dance on, my friend! And never stop trying :D

To confirm what w001mpb is saying- "Deck Captain" is not a term that we use in professional theatre. Stage Managers who work on either side of the stage during the run of a show are said to be "running the deck" or "running deck cues." If you have any other questions about Stage Management, don't hesitate to ask! And check out our page and website to learn more.
