Zoe Mitchell Fuck pavlov. That man deserved a slow painful death by electric jolts every time he breathes. Not enough to immediately kill him, just enough to make him suffer immensely with each breath. See how his "conditioning" works for that.
As someone who has lost his brother... I didn't need any music for that scene in Big Hero 6. I cried like a baby. I actually had to pause the movie and come back to it later because it hurt too much to watch. While I understand the point of this video, and agree, music is there to "enhance" a scene. But if the scene alone conveys the message well, music is not necessarily required. And Big Hero 6 is criminally underrated.
Nisa Hilmi yesss that's one of my favorite songs from a Pixar film, and Finding Nemo is one of my favorite movies and it fits so perfectly. I feel like it's only special to Nemo and Marlin though, and not Hiro and Baymax lol
100% agree with the final point of the video: my main problem with Big Hero 6 was that there was really no hummable melody for the movie. I wanted to cover one of the pieces from that movie, but they were all conglomerations of different musical ideas that didn't seem to have any unifying thread. Not to discredit Henry Jackman, but establishing some sort of family theme there for the funeral scene and the remembrance scene (among others) would have made those moments hit so much harder
Isn't that the opposite of what he said? He claimed that it doesn't really matter how good ("hummable") the melody is, there just has to be a melody there to connect moments. I totally disagree, some melodies and music are emotionally resonant on their own. This should be pretty obvious because plenty of music is not written for films or connected to any other emotional stimuli. The Finding Nemo theme was touching because it was used as a theme for Nemo and Marlin's relationship, but also because the musical theme is beautiful by itself. Writing off the music itself (and whether it is in major or minor etcetera) as irrelevant is pretty naive and flawed in my opinion.
I think that we just took away different messages from the video. As I understood it, leitmotifs throughout a film's hard-hitting moments will help establish an audience's connection with the central themes and ideas the movie wants to present. I'm totally with you in that music is emotionally resonant on its own, speaking as a musician. And I wasn't saying that the movie had bad music at all--actually, one of my favorite scores from Big Hero 6 was "Nerd School"--but by not using a threaded motif to unify related parts of film, there's a huge missed opporitunity for the audience to engage with the scene, which is what I think the video's point was. The reason "Nemo Egg" works so well in the BH6 scene is because we understand it as a family loss/bonding melody through the context of Finding Nemo. In contrast, "Time" by Hans Zimmer, though stunningly beautiful in much the same way, wouldn't work as well because its context in Inception doesn't connect with that theme all too closely. --Cheers!
you're kinda right , the movie doesn't have a characteristic melody on a sad scene like Nemo or Up but still the melody from when baymax fly for the first time is pretty noticable. I really loved the sountrack of Big hero 6 , it's really fresh and playfull and the scene where Hiro works at the garage in fast motion really gets you ..
4:06 I felt a pang in my heart when he played that chord, it’s incredible well constructed Up’s score was if one chord can instantly bring back all the emotions I felt in that film. Incredible job Michael.
LOL seriously??? You didnt cry at all at the fact that a little boy just lost his older brother that he looked up to and cared for?.. and no tears at all when he had to say goodbye to baymax? That movie was the saddest movie out of all disney films!! There is something wrong with u if u dont cry watching it

RavenCrow you should consider appealing it, if you haven’t already. Something about a copyright rule or law that allows people to use clips and sounds, if they’re used for certain purposes. I think the use in this video might apply, and the sound could be reinstated.
@@DavidStella Fair use is super sketchy and you'd be disputing the claim against the people who made it so he'd likely only end up with a strike. It's messed up but that's how it works on youtube right now
Watch Me Rise as a media student in university I have to deal with this law a lot. This does t come under the fair use law of the copyright act because it is a copyrighted sequence, and a copyrighted soundtrack being put together and then shared on a public site. Although it is mentioned in the video through speech, the names of said copyrighted products aren’t mentioned in the description. Educational purposes are a bit sketchy because although it is teaching us something about music composition, it still technically just an experiment and not originally intended to teach us anything. It was just a good idea which, I am sad to say was unable to be shown. But as a piano player and someone who can play the memo theme, listening to it in my head while watching that sequence confirms his theory. It brings tears to your eyes. A movie I love, and a soundtrack from a movie I grew up with, perfect match. Oh, and the memo theme is still one of the best soundtracks...
No, a low pitched voice or instrument is more intimidating, and that is why villains tend to have low voices. As a side effect, some people tend to respect those with lower voices. That works better though when the character is good. Think Morgan Freeman.
When She Loved Me in TS2 is the saddest scene in Pixar imo. Seeing Jessie being so happy with Emily and then being forgotten under the bed to then being donated hurts so much! Makes me feel bad for all the toys I’ve abandoned and the music plays such a big role. There’s so much emotion in the vocals.
Whenever he's talking over "Nemo's Theme", all I can hear is Nemo's dad talking about how he met the sea turtle, and the shark, and went on a wild adventure all over the sea looking for him.
Listen to how this fits: * Music is gone * Me: Ah, yes the emptiness. I almost feel like I was the main character and my heart was empty/uncomplete. That's deep.
Holy shit i had NO IDEA how much just adding the right music can seriously fuck your emotions up. Reminds me of the Visual novel Katawa Shoujo. Does it really well in the Hanako arc.
One film composer who is a master of leitmotif is John Williams, and one could make a similar case study of how the Star Wars films are enhanced by John Williams' use of leitmotif.
Well that’s frustrating. What a great video and it all leads to the “a ha” moment, the part of the video that really demonstrates the point and then the music had to be taken out. I was all excited to use this for my students, but not sure that there is a point now.
It may not be an example related to Pixar, but that moment when Aragorn, along with everyone else, bows to the hobbits and "Concerning Hobbits" starts playing is a real tear jerker. How it works for me, as far as I can tell, is that this melody represents the peace and contentment of life in the shire. Having it encompass the hobbits' journey in the trilogy not only *finally* marks an end to that grueling trip, it also puts all the horrors they overcame along the way in contrast to the peace they can return to now. That moment, in that scene, builds on three epic films worth of tension which the music helps me release. And because it's a very well-told story that kept me invested at all times, that's a lot of feels.
The music from Finding Nemo has had my heart from as far back as I can remember. There's just something about that theme that makes you think, especially if you've lost something dear or feel lost.😔
I'm thinking about the moral behind Inside Out and how that relates to how happy melodies turning sad hits us. We have a happy melody that's genuinely happy at first, but then we're reminded that the person/place/idea is gone and the happy memory turns sad.
Damn, a full serving of toy story, finding nemo and monsters inc from my childhood, oozing with nostalgia sauce. Only to leave me bloated with rose tinted memories of the pure and simple life. I still remember that day, I wasn't even five years old. Once the scene where dory meets Bruce came, my dad called me over for lunch. He'd made scrambled egg with tomato through it. Delicious. We ate at the table where I was only just level with the window sill that I could see the cress we were growing in a margarine tub lid lined with damp kitchen towel.
Caeden Austin Yeah. Listening to Another Medium reminds me of how good 2015 was and how I took those good times for granted. Nowadays life for me is shit.
but tbh the big hero 6 scene was kind of supposed to be more casual than that and just show everyday parts of tadashi's life. that's what made it sad and i think it did a good job

Maried Life is flipping sad. It just tells everyone that everything can't last for ever. Life goes on and so will the happy little things with it.
CameronTIE it’s mine and everyone else’s weakness
7:30 this nemo music made me cry lmao
Nisa Hilmi yesss that's one of my favorite songs from a Pixar film, and Finding Nemo is one of my favorite movies and it fits so perfectly. I feel like it's only special to Nemo and Marlin though, and not Hiro and Baymax lol
TheBlarfingChannel yeah! well the nemo song is not made to fit with big hero 6 theme 😂 i love both movies tho, theyre my fav
Nisa Hilmi Yeah, I agree with you 100% on that!
lol
NemoYT lmao
“When she loved me” makes me cry cause it reminds me of having to give away my dog :(

In contrast, "Time" by Hans Zimmer, though stunningly beautiful in much the same way, wouldn't work as well because its context in Inception doesn't connect with that theme all too closely.

you're kinda right , the movie doesn't have a characteristic melody on a sad scene like Nemo or Up but still the melody from when baymax fly for the first time is pretty noticable. I really loved the sountrack of Big hero 6 , it's really fresh and playfull and the scene where Hiro works at the garage in fast motion really gets you ..
Think my house is haunted, ghosts be fucking cutting onions in my house.
Aric Roy lol
Shit, I must have the same problem
Nah, it's probably just Namjoon cutting onions again XD
Pixar’s entire purpose is to depress us all, especially the Toy Story movies.
4:23 THE MEMORIES they’re coming back
:(
😭😭😭
😢
It sent shivers down my spine. I'm a 35 year old man and it touched a nerve buried deep in memory lane..
4:06 I felt a pang in my heart when he played that chord, it’s incredible well constructed Up’s score was if one chord can instantly bring back all the emotions I felt in that film. Incredible job Michael.
Xfdxddaa sbsaaa
I couldn't quite put my finger on why Big Hero 6 didn't quite impact me like other Pixar films...but I think you nailed it.
ohhhhhhhhh just read others' comments about how Pixar wasn't involved in that one....there you go.
Big Hero 6 was the only one that made me cry xD
jessiberry yeah agreed. I kinda think big hero 6 was overrated. Inside out, Up, toy story 3, were the only ones that made me cry
Wh Khu oh my Toy Story 3. They made me bawl like hell
LOL seriously??? You didnt cry at all at the fact that a little boy just lost his older brother that he looked up to and cared for?.. and no tears at all when he had to say goodbye to baymax? That movie was the saddest movie out of all disney films!! There is something wrong with u if u dont cry watching it
The only animation film that's made me cry is Inside Out's ending when Riley comes back after trying to run away and she and her parents have one big hug.
Something about it hits home.
Man that's definitely one of the two moments in that messed me up so badly. I'm sure you know the other one. 😢
@@pierrebegley2746 R.I.P. Bing Bong.
7 years later and she never took Riley to the moon. (Since she’s a part of her brain and not a real human being/imaginary friend.)
@@Sidneychu129When Bing Bong said that, all I could think of was the expression "Over the moon with joy". So I like to think that Riley grew up, fell in love, and experienced more powerful joy than anything she'd ever felt before; that perhaps on her wedding day, or when her first child was born, Joy really did take her to the moon. 🥹🥹🥹
There is no sound in big hero six clip
He had to remove the theme due to some copyright claims.
It's messed up but that's how it works on youtube right now
@@ofirstroh that law sucks, this shit probably had already been played.
I litteraly started crying everytime I saw a part of a Pixar movie...
yeah wtf haha
**plays married life**
**puts up scene on when Ellie died**
**grieves**
I have always loved Finding Nemo's theme song. It is so nostalgic.
A low pitch voice also makes you respect the character, that's why most villains have it.
JonatasMonte *cough cough* Benedict Cumberbatch
Not necessarily tho, it's a small part of it.
I think it has to do with more that the low pitch voice demands respect rather than make you respect it
No, a low pitched voice or instrument is more intimidating, and that is why villains tend to have low voices. As a side effect, some people tend to respect those with lower voices. That works better though when the character is good. Think Morgan Freeman.
7:30 the way you said "all his friends died to an evil fish" made me laugh
more like 7:21
more like 7:27
more like
*guy plays UP music*

shibedoggo ah good one
When She Loved Me in TS2 is the saddest scene in Pixar imo. Seeing Jessie being so happy with Emily and then being forgotten under the bed to then being donated hurts so much! Makes me feel bad for all the toys I’ve abandoned and the music plays such a big role. There’s so much emotion in the vocals.
Whenever he's talking over "Nemo's Theme", all I can hear is Nemo's dad talking about how he met the sea turtle, and the shark, and went on a wild adventure all over the sea looking for him.
toy story 3 end fucked me up for bad, all those adventures andy had with buzz and woody...
I Have not even seen one toystory movie
rindert riemersma ...im sorry
Yeah, I cry like a bitch every time.
DRUGS'HAVEN yeah like wtf it fucked me up
i wasn't prepared for the damn turnover, i thought he's gonna keep them all or something
God dammit Nemo's Egg hits me every time.
Oliver Betteridge same
Listen to how this fits:
* Music is gone *
Me: Ah, yes the emptiness. I almost feel like I was the main character and my heart was empty/uncomplete. That's deep.
hOW DAre you make the tadashi scene sadder
cedeelbe god dam the fucking Tadashi scene annihilates me every time no matter how well prepared I think I am.
I am crying. I hate you lol
cedeelbe You should be more angry that I ruined your 666 likes.
i fixed it
XD ikr?
The Nemo Theme always hits me hard, I think harder than Ellie's theme.
Wow, I never realized how important music is in movies. Thanks for this video.
I'm not even watching Up and hearing the fucking music is making me cry and get literally choked up. God, that song evokes such feeling.
Explains why I cried so much over the Remember Me segments. Every time they reincorporated it, it just destroyed me so much more.
1:17 all I can imagine is how good this would sound if I sampled it and made a dance beat out of it.
Please do it
Yeah!
Yes pls
Did he do it??
you HAVE to do it
Holy shit i had NO IDEA how much just adding the right music can seriously fuck your emotions up. Reminds me of the Visual novel Katawa Shoujo. Does it really well in the Hanako arc.
That single chord and I teared up. He did his job remarkably well.
I don't need music to cry my dads belt is enough.
liljestrandarn I beg for my dads belt
liljestrandarn omfg
liljestrandarn ok...😐
Thanks, now I'm crying because this video has sad music in it and laughing because of this comment.

How new to teh interwebz do you have to be to take this seriously?
leitmotif - a recurrent theme throughout a musical or literary composition, associated with a particular person, idea, or situation.
One film composer who is a master of leitmotif is John Williams, and one could make a similar case study of how the Star Wars films are enhanced by John Williams' use of leitmotif.
it' Leitmotiv in German
Please do an episode about "Remember Me" from Coco and how it changes with context throughout the movie
He did one. It’s on how music can help people remember better:
it's actually just another example of this video's topic
Well that’s frustrating. What a great video and it all leads to the “a ha” moment, the part of the video that really demonstrates the point and then the music had to be taken out. I was all excited to use this for my students, but not sure that there is a point now.
Theres a link to it in the discription! So ypu can show them that as well
I heard "when she loved me" in "so long" too, I seriously can't watch that scene without holding my breath and my tears.
When you started analyzing the theme regarding the relationship between Sully and Boo, I teared up.
*watches scene and cries* I-I know...
Michael Giacchino is literally AMAZING I absolutely love his work and everything he does.
In a scary movie, they always do that kinda stuff before a scary scene comes.
ikr
Pixar. Misses. Nothing
He mentions "when she loved me"
*sobs uncontrollably*
The music from Finding Nemo has had my heart from as far back as I can remember. There's just something about that theme that makes you think, especially if you've lost something dear or feel lost.😔
WHERES MY BOI WALL-E AT
His music is so sad they didn't add it in this vid
Probably the best pixar movie of all time
Best movie of all time for me
Omg yess
Anyone who couldnt get through this video without tears?
Me! 👋😢
same ;'(
I thought this said "couldnt get through this video without ears" and I got real confused
quackoqazs 😂😂 That'd be difficult to do
yes
He sounds like Dipper when he grows up 😋
laura aguilar 😂 he does😂😂
*dead*
this is so true
I just imagined Dipper as an adult talking into a microphone
laura aguilar yeah
I'm thinking about the moral behind Inside Out and how that relates to how happy melodies turning sad hits us. We have a happy melody that's genuinely happy at first, but then we're reminded that the person/place/idea is gone and the happy memory turns sad.
i actually CRIED AT THAT SCENE IN BIG HERO 6. I CRIED AF
i didn't cry when you added that nemo music on big hero 6 lol
you're a big girl aren't you
awaken moon what does "crying as fuck" mean?
Lord Bumbo as it is
birb it doesn't matter
Damn, a full serving of toy story, finding nemo and monsters inc from my childhood, oozing with nostalgia sauce. Only to leave me bloated with rose tinted memories of the pure and simple life.
I still remember that day, I wasn't even five years old. Once the scene where dory meets Bruce came, my dad called me over for lunch. He'd made scrambled egg with tomato through it. Delicious. We ate at the table where I was only just level with the window sill that I could see the cress we were growing in a margarine tub lid lined with damp kitchen towel.
"Oh my God.. Who the HELL cares?!"
-Peter Griffin
Shut up...
You're making me tear up. You should be a writer!
You should be a writer. I would read any of your works.
I was crushed by the feels. Jeez. I should pay more attention to the Pixar soundtrack...
Honestly the Monster’s Inc and Nemo theme get me every time no matter when and how I listen to them
Now I know why Undertale is so emotional...
3:35 GODDAMN IT NOT UP!!! THAT'S JUST NOT FAIR!!!
Toriel's theme hit hard when I went back into the house.
desu38 Yep ;-;
Caeden Austin Yeah. Listening to Another Medium reminds me of how good 2015 was and how I took those good times for granted. Nowadays life for me is shit.
Bernard Sk i saw u on pyrocinicals video comment
without music, every sad video is not sad at all lol
this is such a great video and also the up and finding nemo soundtracks are some of my favorites ever
but tbh the big hero 6 scene was kind of supposed to be more casual than that and just show everyday parts of tadashi's life. that's what made it sad and i think it did a good job
I cried like five times during this video. I watched these movies years ago and my brain still has those emotional connections. From all the way back when I watched them.
