My order is in for my Autoboat Smart head. Can't wait to repower my Wave Walk W500 kayak. With my Game Fisher 2hp outboard on the back for big waters, 45lb thrust Autoboat on the front, the skies the limit.
Just got my boat back. Got custom aluminum mount and can’t wait to put the AutoBoat Smart Head on it. Gonna be awesome fishing the flats and Florida gulf.
I got my Autoboat Smart Head pre-ordered. I have my NV transom mount mounted to the front of my Hobie Outback via One Objective mounting plate. I have a NV series trolling motor also waiting in the garage for this upgrade. This is going to be game changing for fishing the bays and rivers here. I can't wait to get my hands on this!
Ended up selling my old boat with autoboat just last week... They loved the thing. Now i get to get this one like i wanted on the new boat. Still putting a 60 inch shaft on the new minn kota though because bow mount is high.
I’ve used the 1st gen all summer into late fall almost every weekend. Major bugs. I fish a river and spot lock honestly doesn’t work well at all, always expect it’s going be off 3-5feet that’s with low current speeds too in the late fall. My remote tends to disconnect at times even with new battery. For the money it’s not terrible but not life changing. I still find myself just anchoring since I don’t wanna deal with it constant swaying left to right. I think the biggest issue is if you click it into auto boat and you have motion forward it turns the whole head around trying to find its spot lock and that’s because it can’t go into reverse so it tends to get wrapped up from doing a 360. Hopefully 2nd gen fixes all these problems I had.
Mine occasionally would start continuously turning until i pressed opposite direction if i hit right or left a couple times to adjust steering. Im looking forward to the firmware updates on this one. If there are bugs. They can be fixed.
Well, that thing has an almost no questions asked warranty. If you’re having problems with it and you still bought it within a year please call us immediately.
Will you be dropping the installation and modifications for the Minn Kota Edge soon? I have both a bow mount trolling motor and a Minn Kota Edge. I really want to use the edge for quick deployment and convenience but am waiting to see the tutorial before permanently mounting my edge.
I looked at their video. From what i could tell. It was just a pilot hole on the black aluminum that holds the shaft. If correct this is significantly easier than the original i had to make a bracket because the turning motor was too close to the shaft to clear the edge mount. Granted. The bracket was easy to make as well.
@@TinyBoatNation I've got a Minn Kota Edge (non foot controlled) and have contacted your peeps but did not get the answer I needed to my question about this so as soon as I get to see this mod - I'M IN! - and I'm pretty sure there are a whole lot of other people waiting for this info as well.
Could there be an additional section on the website that states all of the physical requirements for this unit to work and be eligible for a warranty please? Basically, I am asking this because my uncle owns an old trolling motor and he would like to upgrade it, and I think this could be the goto move. His motor still works, the head electronics stopped working, so yeah... it's already 50% of the way there... we don't know if it could fit though because it isn't any of the ones listed. We're able to modify the trolling motor as necessary, but we don't know the requirements... and we want to keep the warranty, so we wouldn't touch anything about the head !
Why does it not work well to push the boat verses pulling the boat? Is that a firmware thing that you could change with a setting that told the trolling motor that it is mounted at the stern? Because my stern mount trolling motor works just fine with pushing the boat now and I’d like it to also have anchor mode.
It will work in anchor mode. It just won’t push it in NAV mode or in track following. Literally no GPS trolling motor on the market is made to push the boat.
AutoBoat is a better system with more features than the Watersnake GPS. For one we are testing the new Anchor Jog feature and it has been awesome so far. That isn’t even an option on Watersnake. Also Smart Head can receive firmware updates via app which means it can get smarter overtime. To best of my knowledge Watersnake doesn’t have remote firmware updates. Also I know it doesn’t have anchor jog. Even expensive $2000+ motors don’t have anchor jog without buying an expensive secondary sensor which needs to be mounted on the boat. I should have some videos coming soon on AutoBoat Smart Head. We have several anglers testing them across the USA before releasing to customers.
@ well, I have no idea what anchor jog is, so I don’t know if I need that or not. But $1200 is a lot of money for your unit, especially considering you also need a motor to put it on! Also, why would this thing need firmware updates? It’s an electric outboard, not a spaceship 🤷🏻♂️🤔
I was hoping this video was going to throw in a Black Friday sale code. LOL! I am already hooked but was just hoping against hope that they would go on sale before pulling the trigger. LOL! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
@@TinyBoatNation Thanks! And I procrastinated long enough where I now have to wait for the next batch. Procrastinating is my super power. LOL!! Time to order for the next back. Thanks again!!! Such a great product and so much better than these way overpriced manufactured ones. --Brent
here is what I did. Just buy a xi5 used and get the GPS/spot lock console for $300 usd, you have a warranty and not waiting for some buggy and not supported item. For 1g usd this is something that isnt solving a problem. Just another piece of technology that will be a headache on your trolling motor. If your trolling motor breaks or this you are out. Just go with an unit that has all of this.
Respectfully, that makes no sense at all. Buying an xi5 used and a gps console is expensive and gets you less for your money. Also if xi5 motor fails you have to buy their Motorguide proprietary motor and parts. If motor fails on your AutoBoat you can swap it out with several brands of affordable trolling motors which reduces costs. The modular design makes it easy to service quickly so it gives you many years of good times on the water. AutoBoat has a phenomenal warranty and customer service is something they pride themselves in. The AutoBoat system is entirely different than gen1. It has remote firmware updates via app. It is more responsive and smoother operating thanks to larger AutoDrive and an entirely new motherboard (brain). It will have 4 different remote control options. It will have remote diagnostic capabilities if anything does go wrong. The AutoBoat Smart Head has more features than Xi5 and Xi3 like Anchor Jog. L
Compared to what? It is a GPS motor system with more features than even most $2000-5000 gps motors. It will have 4 remote control options to sync to by early next year. It is easier to service same day if motor burns out. It can get smarter over time with remote firmware updates via app. It costs less than pretty much all other brands of GPS motors available today. Yet you think the price is too much? 😂
I don’t understand what you’re talking about. last year I paid almost $4000 for Garmin force. This doesn’t cost anywhere near that and appears to be just as good for a small boat where you don’t need that kind of power.
The xi3 he listed is about 1300, so 650 plus 260(some 350ish) for trolling motor is 910. Little closer in price.... But less features. And the BIGGEST advantage isn't just more features that make it comparable to much more expensive models. It is if the trolling motor breaks for whatever reason... Usually seals etc .. go to walmart, grab a new 150 to 300 trolling motor and you are back in action. Vs paying another 1300 to 4000k depending on which all in one you are talking about
@@DustinDIYalso getting used ones since you are only using the lower unit.....some used 55 thrust are like 70-100 bucks ...can't beat that...just buy used.

I think I'm over a year. My spot lock works and then it won't. It seems random.
Does the warranty start for when it's purchased or when you received it? I had the same issue with spot lock too. @TinyBoatNation

Is the gen 2 approved for Haswing Protar?

I’m going to put out a basic operation video here soon
Will there be another run of gen 2 once these are sold out? If so, what would be the next release date?
Yes, in the spring and so on. It’s here to stay
Unfortunately the price of that thing here in Australia is only $200 less than a Watersnake with GPS :/

hi, at this point, why dont you guys start making your own brand of stern
mounted spotlock motor? Theres no competition and theres a market for it.
It’s the most important thing to make. That’s why there’s no market for it.
For your custom trolling motor mounts, are you welding or brazing them?
I welded
@TinyBoatNation thank you for the response.
I want this so bad. Anyone put a trolling motor on a mk106 on the bow? If so, how did it run and what mounting plate did you use? Thanks!!
It would be probably very easy to do because the front of that craft is flat and you can mount anything to it
will these ever be available for 24v 70# saltwater versions?
Coming soon.

Does anyone have any ideas for a bow mount on a pwr 100? Saw one guy do an older power drive. Wonder if that nv mount would work with some mods
It will fit on the transom. You'll only be able to get Stern-mode & anchor mode with it though. All other features are used from the bow.
@@TinyBoatNationanchor would be what I want, but the GPS course is a priority. I'll have to make a bow mount.
If you're gonna make us wait till Jan....drop more videos 😂 I need more lol
I have an entire manual out before the thing even arrives
@TinyBoatNation thank you It would be really nice to see all the features in action and see the unit respond.
Does this auto boat have the ability to jog while on spot lock? Thank you.
