Watch a full tutorial as a 2000 Dodge Dakota (with or without the Infinity System) will have an Alpine Type R 6.5" coaxial speakers installed in the front doors. Our model was not equipped with factory tweeters, but those can be replaced as well.
This video applies to Dodge Dakota / Durango models for years 1997, 1998, 1999, and 2000. This video also includes door trim removal, complete installation, wiring, and testing.

I have watched several of these install videos and I can't help but notice that the hardest part of the job like removing the door handle clips and removing old speaker from speaker housing clips....is skipped over. That is the real reason I personally watch the videos. Just FYI for some of your future videos.

Installed the bottom speaker with no problem....thanks to your video, it was exactly spot on! Now I am ready to install the tweeter, can and have installed but trying to locate the incoming wire to hook the crossover box to and have not untangled the mess of wires that are in the door....any pointers or videos you recommend!

Left Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): Dark Green
Left Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Brown/Red

We've done them a few times, but no video unfortunately. They are a beast to remove.

What about the stock amp in a 2000 dodge Durango do you leave that plugged in or just unplug it I have new speakers but stock head unit
Noticed that you cut the harness of. Are there no speaker wire adapters? If so, which model number for metra can we use?
There sure are, head over to Sonic Electronix and use their vehicle fit guide. They will get you the right parts for exactly what you need. It should be the Metra 72-6514 adapters

My 98 Dodge does not have electric windows. How different is that door panel removal?
You just have to pull the window crank straight out of the door and everything else should be the same. Note where it was facing for when you put it back I don't remember if they are keyed one way or can go back any direction.

only if you cut and modify the door.
Mine has roll up windows and I dont have a tool to get that clip off. Is there a trick to getting it off with typical tools? I dont wanna break it because I'm not gunna have money until payday.

What size speakers did you use. I have 6.5 but Google says it is 6 and 3/4
6.5 and 6 3/4" are very interchangeable so either will fit fine.
how hard is it to put in a 6 3/4 speaker? I have a 2000 Durango (same front door panels), and I'm wondering what kind of modifications I need to make to make a 6 3/4 component set fit.
6.5 vs 6 3/4 are interchangeable in the industry, both will fit just fine. The process is just the same.

Technique will be similar, but things will be slightly differ based on your year.
Is this a similar installation to a 05 Durango
What kind of speakers are those?....... and is that easy to replace the rear ones as well? All the rest of the videos are showing spacers or having to modify the bracket etc.. I have a 2000 dodge dakota QC
The rear speakers are much more difficult to replace, it requires removing the rear panel below the window in the cab, then the side panels over the speaker need to be removed. These are Alpines we installed. If the magnet is too large, you will need a spacer. We didn't have a need to modify the bracket much.
