Man this brings back so many memories. I had a '77, was bought new, I was in my early teens. Rode that bike for years, put gas in it, check the oil tank, kick it over, ride like the devil. I just turned 60, thanks for brining up some wonderful memories from my childhood. BTW the number plate was white and oval shaped.
I had a 1982 KD80, brand new. Got it, mid winter, rolled it into my bedroom and stared it all winter long. Loved that little bike! Rode it until I outgrew it and, today still have a 1987 KLR250. Fond of the Kawasaki brand ever since.
@@jenniesgarage it was! I grew up just outside Fairbanks Alaska. I bought the bike in mid December. Was super happy my mom let me keep it in the house. But in late April I wheeled it outside and rode around in the slush. Was soooo fun. What neat little bikes. Essentially the same as yours but different plastics and color.
Get well soon, Jennie! What a dream little motorcycle. Sounds like it needs an oil-can round it and some loving care… that kickstart pedal squeaked in protest when you folded it out to turn the engine over by hand. I don’t think Kwacker ever brought that model to the UK, but it’s lovely! Watching for the next video. Hope Jennie is soon up and about. Les in UK 🇬🇧
When I was a kid in the late 80s, my mom had a 1970-something Kawi KE(KM?)100 that she had as a kid. I remember riding on it through the yard. Wish I still had it.
I was taught growing up on these two strokes to turn the choke on and kick until you hear it fire once. Then turn it off and try it again. Can always turn it back on if needed, but saves you from flooding it. You know what you’re doing, just sharing how I learned! Great video again, thank you!!
I had its bigger brother the KD125! My dad bought it for my 13th birthday when I was told I wasn't getting anything at all. I just loved that little bike! Kawasaki also made a 175cc that was really cool. Thanks for the memory!!
Kawasaki designed the mini cycles with a very restrictive exhaust port and exhaust pipe. A very common issue was the exhaust pipe becoming carbonned up and the motor barely running. We would clean the baffle and shorten it so it would flow more. They were still slow.
Having owned a kawi from 1969 that had dual carbs and dual rotary valves ( actually disc's) , this little machine should have some real pep! Mine was a Kawi 350 Avenger, and it was a scrambler model that was fitted with some nice off road nobbie tires. It really screamed, I mean there wasn't a bike made that would keep up with it thru the 1/4 mile, but it was too heavy for the trails in retrospect. Then the 500 triple came out and the Avenger became a footnote in history! I only owned that bike for a yr until I blew it up, and turned my interest to a 57 Chevy Pu.
Tell poor camera girl I’m thinking of her , really hope she has you run ragged looking after her with a little bell to call you . Here’s to her swift recovery. Great work on the solo video👍
I power buffed up with metal polish engine cases to beautiful high luster. Carb boot ( unavailable) can get dry and unflexable but a heat gun with careful use can allow to fit properly. Filter is available. Super torque motor for displacement. The rotary valve is a great system. I run mine dry by fuel shutoff. It can sit for six months. One kick startup. Bel Ray SI - 7 almost no smoke.💨
I had one of them when I was a kid and I actually had two of them. It was a KE 100 Street legal that little dirtbike here working on there I had a lot of fun on one of them good trail bike❤

holy cow, i used to love your videos but forgot completely. youtube finally recommended one again. love to see you've stayed true to jennie's garage origin.
I had a 74 mc1 90. It was my 1st bike, and it was an absolute tank. The rubber grommet that the cables pass through that attach to the carb, didn’t make a proper seal leading to a seizure of the piston and the destruction of the cylinder. RIP little Kawasaki.
Hi Jake! and Jen I feel for you Jen I rolled my ancle real bad a month ago and it was so bad I wanted to throw up! It hurt that bad. Hope your feeling better. Jake my Boy! @@scottgroves1010 Bought and sold houses and fixed them up. Worked pretty hard to do that I'm thinking. Built up a huge following on youtube, making decent money at that. I wish TH-cam was available when I was doing something similar.
I in my mid teens had a Kawasaki KV 100, brilliant little bike. I can tell you whoever had that bike had that put up where it wasn't going to get messed up, probably belong to a collection at one time. I bought the 1976 KD125 new as a 12 year old kid for $750.00. Made $1.00/hr for 6 years and also bought a new 1978 YZ100 ($800), and a left over new 1979 YZ150 in 1980 ($850). I think that bike was basically the same as mine. It is a weak link that the filter isn't attached to the carb. Lots of places for dirt to leak in.
