3 million unemployed when this originally came out in 1982, rising to 4.5 million in 1986 when it began to drop, by which time many school leavers from 1980 were still to find their first job, by then age 22. There were a lot of dole boys in the 80s especially in the North and Midlands where industry had collapsed.

Dr Chunky Biscuit Sadly not everyone will like George’s stuff then again they may have just disliked that one track. Either way you shouldn’t let that kind of thing bother you waste of energy best spent singing along to this genius and enjoy

@@technophobe7067 Superb response to Dr Chunky Biscuit's query. I hope to remember your sentiments whenever I see a negative post. Thank you for sharing & your lovely comments about the amazingly beautiful & talented George Michael & Wham! I'm SO grateful for the incredible gifts he left us 💖
@ Colm Julian ... "WHAM! Rap '86 " is like twice as long as the '82 original version, and includes some of the cuss words from the "Unsocial Mix" of it. ..and Elton John only played piano on one song, "The Edge of Heaven", on this album (1986's "Music from the Edge of Heaven"). 🎹 🙂

Summer 1986 I jammed to this on my Sony Walkman over and over and over again. Best. Summer. Ever.

Wish I was alive when Walkman’s were the thing, not cell phones 😂😭
I was just starting high school. I had the Walkman and played this over and over....until I discovered long hair and Metallica.
Walkman....the greatest thing ever at the time. Everyone seemed to have one back in the day!

Unemployment is so cool when it's sung.
its also pretty cool when you dont have bills or insurance or any kinda monthly junk. Almost makes you wonder how people managed so long without :3

How can there be 1 dislike already? 🤔 If you don't like it, just don't leave it & move on. Show some respect to George!
that's probably from some dumbass trolls who don't know shit about good music.

I like this version better

Hi
good
Correct me if I am wrong ; but this is not a re-recording ? Just a slightly different mix of the 82 version ? And I can’t hear Elton John either
it’s got shep pettibone at the helm
