Even though they were amateur those All Black players were planting the seed of the modern game and breaking records in the process. They were breaking new ground in tactics. The birth of the back 3 and attacking fullback. As well as redefining loose forward play. This should be remembered with historical significance.
Good lead up series for the Springbok tests. Scotland had a good scrum, tough hardworking pack, decent backline with the classy John Rutherford. Calder, Paxton, Cuthbertson, the front row at scrum time, Rutherford, Laidlaw, Renwick, Hay and Munro were all good. Good refereeing too. The score probably not entirely reflective of the game.....with the AB's scoring a couple of cheap try's in the 2nd half.
Carl Collett was an excellent referee back in the day., when Advantage was a 'new' concept that Aussies refs embraced with gusto. Sadly, no longer with us.
Scotland were a second rate side as far as most NZ's were concerned . Everyone was getting ready for the real contest against the Springboks. That's all NZ fans really cared about.

Great to see these old games ,thanks for posting
The dive pass by the half-back, which used to be common, now looks silly.
Bruce Robertson’s last game for the All Blacks
No, he played his last test against the 1983 Lions in the fourth test thrashing. I remember Stu Wilson gifting him a try.
@@zabaleta66 no it's in this game at 1:32:10.
Scrums were a hell of a mess in those days.
Farewell Bruce Robertson
