I remember stumbling onto Grass valley when I was 10 years old in 1982. Very similar story. I was there for 38 years. Now I'm in Michigan. This song makes me cry so much I love it. I got to see Molly perform it at Hangtown last year in Grass valley at the same fairgrounds the song is about. Cried there too!
Wow, what a lovely song. I remember in the early '80's, driving my VW bus up to Grass Valley from the Bay Area with my banjo, while home-made cassettes of my favorite record albums primed my bluegrass appetite. I would jam until I was completely wiped out, having put in a long day at the shop that day before driving up, and be sung to sleep by another young man with hard-working hands who seemed to know a thousand songs, and "Sing me back home . . ." What wonderful days those were. Thanks for the memories, Molly.
Wow just wow. This song made me tear up. I remember the first time my dad took me to the Grass Valley Bluegrass Festival, we camped in his old chevy van. My dad was a picker, he'd make his rounds to the various camps and pick all day and night more than watch who was playing on the main stage. This song took me right back to those special times with my dad in Grass Valley. Thank you! ❤
❤ It is so beautiful to see father and daughter making music in one video. That is a treasure for a lifetime. I would have loved it if my family could and would have shared my passion with me like that. Instead, when I said I was going to be a musician as a child, it wasn't taken seriously. "Learn something decent first." The phrase of caring parents who, being born during the war, worried about their own children but never really understood them. So I had to go it alone. I didn't just make music because I wanted to, but because I could never do otherwise.
This brings back memories of going to bluegrass concerts with my family and enjoying the 50's-70's vibe of the appreciative crowd. Thanks to Molly and her dad.
She is something else. One of the greatest flat pickers. What a voice. If that's her Dad he is also awesome. And Sir, can I marry your daughter ? She is a beautiful person in & out! I am a working Lithic Technologist & Musician/composer. God bless you Both!🌹
Lovely. Beautiful song, and a wonderful voice. Molly Tuttle... sounds like a great name for a Country star. Meant to be maybe. Sweet place, that Grass Valley. Stay at it. Blessings and all the best. 🙏
This song gives me goosebumps. So many things I can relate to in it. Came back from Grass Valley this morning from a week full of love and memories. That festival will always be my favorite. I also love Ronnie McCoury's tune named after Grass Valley. check it out
Hey, Molly! Just found you through an old-time Palo Alto pal of mine who posted a link to a different song. Love your music! Then I thought, "Huh. Tuttle. I took banjo lessons ages ago from a really great guy named Jack Tuttle." And lo and behold, here he is! Your dad. Gotta love those connections. Thanks for all the great music!
Wonderful song, beautifully played. I can see Molly playing this at bluegrass festivals, pointing to a youngster clutching an instrument and saying 'this one's for you'.
Some of the best concerts we ever saw was in the auditorium in Grass Valley. Slaid Cleves and Crystal Bowersox come to mind. We made the trek from Sacramento many, many times. We'd have a nice Italian dinner next door at Cirino's and then chill out to the fantastic music. Once when my wife was tournament golfing, I made the trek all by myself to hear a group of folks who got together to play some Steely Dan and they blew me away. Anyone catching my note here should check out Molly's "White Rabbit" - it's my new favorite go-to video.
I grew up in Grass Valley . Sounds like you spent a weekend at Scots Flat or Rollins lake . For great winter fun check out Cornish Christmas every Friday after Thanksgiving and Victorian Christmas in Nevada City . Can't drink on the streets anymore 😭😭😭😭 ! What ! It gets cold and schnapps is wonderful !
There's sound and there's music and then there's perfection that transcends both and leads us to pray we see another sunrise and the chance to be embraced.
*Thank You Jack* You provided important contributions to the Soundtrack that we raised our family on 2 children ~ 20 yrs~ WHAT? Where did it all go? Both now Grown Looking forward to Thanking Molly in person
Molly never disappoints. And seeing dad Jack here dueting(?) . Wow. Sure sounds like a biographical song many of us old pickers can relate too. Luv ya Molly.
This as well as many of Molly's performances set fire to the parts of me that would love to grab a friend or two or three and to head out on a long wandering road trip. Music that compels a listener to want to explore is music that I love to listen to. 💞
Thats my cousin. How awesome is she.
A man and his daughter playing like that. A woman and her dad playing like that. Thanks for posting this one.
It's safe to say she caught that magic in her hands.
That's correct.
Amen , 😍🥰💖💗💖 she is so beautiful .
I do believe you are right
Brought a tear to my eye too! The future is bright. 🌈
It's a rare gift to have a voice that moves the human spirt.
This is so wonderful. The Tuttle kids are lucky to have Jack as a father and he is lucky to have them. So much talent.
Gotta be one proud Dad.
Happy Father’s Day. 😎
Someone gets it!

She comes by all that talent honestly. Great stuff.
Beautiful, one of those that’s hard to sing with out choking up just a little, that’s when you really know the power of the song. Hat tip.
This brings back memories of going to bluegrass concerts with my family and enjoying the 50's-70's vibe of the appreciative crowd. Thanks to Molly and her dad.
I was ten years old and happy and out of school early, jamming...wow. And Happy Father's Day, Jack, wow.
I grew up in Grass Valley. Afraid it’s not the same city it used to be, but it was a treasure, and I treasure all the memories.
Grass Valley is still a treasure. It’s not perfect but I still wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.
Papa avec sa fille 😁

I had the same experience - only Jack taught me fiddle tunes on guitar. Probably in the same small room at Gryphon.
Father and daughter, equally proud of each other.
Something so sweet about family harmonies, their playing so spot on also!!Thanks Tuttle's
Memories of waters flowing about Colfax.😊
The Tuttles are having way too much fun.
