I thought I was watching tennis highlights & that the camera was at an odd angle, making the players look like giants with the court kinda shrunk, and was, like, wth?!, they're covering the entire court without moving too much! Then Bam!! Touchtennis!! Reality set in. My eyes were telling my brain that I was watching tennis, but my brain was telling me no way! Took a minute or so for my brain to reconcile with my eyes. Hilarious! Lol.

Josip, from the looks of these players strokes they were probably all decent tennis players. Possible that some sort of injury ended their competitive tennis and this was an alternative? Seems a little like soft tennis played a lot in Asian countries.

touchtennis I've always wanted to play tennis, but there's no court where I live. Touch tennis is giving me the opportunity to have some of the experience as it's easier to set up and for that I think it's great.
I play a lot of squash, and it can hurt seeing people denounce something you put so much time into (squash is just hitting a ball off a wall, touch tennis is tennis for losers). Can people not just respect what others enjoy?

touchtennis 2 questions: What's the height in the center of net? and What's the weight of the ball?
Ari Donovan it varies from net to net. The official touchtennis net is 80cm in the centre and 85 at the sides. The ball is dense foam and 30grams.
Are the racquets the same as normal tennis racquets or are they unique to touchtennis?

I would to promote this sport over that stupid pickleball. This is 100 times better and the most logical progression for serious tennis players that are getting older.
You underestimate the amount of 50+yr. old people who would still find this too physically demanding. In that regard, pickleball is WAY better. "Serious" tennis players can play this as they get older. Everyone can play pickleball when they get older.
Touch Tennis > Pickleball, no question about it. I'm a tennis player and this is so close to actual tennis. Enjoy it whenever I get a chance!

Don't make me laugh. Padel is actually a unique and creative sport where you need years of practice and a top level of fitness. This is quite literally tennis for people that can't play tennis

The court itself is 12 x 6 metres and this arena was 16 metres by 10 metres for run off.

you're talking about a man who has difficulty against someone who's a clay-court specialist, Rafael Nadal, and that's within the same arena of the sport.
we're talking about a whole different sport here. completely different bounce, different lengths of court. you'd be surprised what happens when you got generalists versus specialists. specialists usually win, in general.
i gotta say though, it's hilarious to watch them actually use lobs in this court. i've never played this game and i haven't spectated much of it but the fact that they let them come to net and volley looks ridiculous.

right... speec and acceleration ... I don't realize? I think i do. that's why i mentioned pro- tennis players having difficulties adjusting to different surfaces... that's within the same sport. touchtennis is a completely different ball and different dimensions -- different racquets...

I just have a hard time believing that their rally was one of the top 5 of the year as compared to some of the others that were highlighted.
Maybe the pool of highlights isnt large so by default that one makes it in, but after showing the first one and then having to switch gears and watch theirs was cringy

Why don't they rush the net more? It seems like it's much harder to hit a passing shot here than in real tennis, due to the condensed space. You could become a literal wall at the net if you have good hands.
DeeeFoo even guys like Marcus Willis and Fernando Gonzalez don’t net rush at touchtennis the whole time. It’s too easy for the baseliner to blast the first ball at you and then pick you off with the second ball. Some guys come in more but they are still quite selective. Al Miotto serves and volleys on everything though!

jeff spence I snapped my acl 6 years ago and this means I still play singles without doing any full court damage. If I could play like Federer or Nadal maybe tennis would be for me! But I love beating 20 year old guys at touchtennis with skill and court craft.
jeff spence real tennis is something completely different then lawn tennis. You should search some videos on real tennis, bet you have never seen it before

GreySoundz it was set up like that to stop 250 shot rallies! The court surface is very slow so we brought the barriers in to make it faster so to speak! Two metres all around the court is actually a lot. Some places have less!

What isn’t this played with a regular tennis ball? Given how fast tennis balls fly and how high they jump off the surface, wouldn’t it require even more touch and more spin to keep the ball in?
Roger Federer you’d get injured at the net. And it would never bounce when wet like ours do or on bad grass.
