I learned a lesson from this typhoon, when my Wife and I make it over there eventually I will make sure I have a back up plan for everything that I can think of, a well solid constructed home like yours with solid block or concrete, a good metal roof, chainsaw, generator, stash of cash, food provisions, gasoline. etc.

    • @BoholisAwesome
      @BoholisAwesome  2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Definitely 💯
And maybe solar too as a backup. Something solid like Jackery

It seems the surrounding trees sacrificed themselves to protect your home! Your house looks untouched! Amazing! I can only imagine that the builders did a great job on the roof construction. Well done!

That is such a cute little house. Take pictures and send them to your contractor. No major damage after a storm that strong is saying something. Kudo's to the contractors and architect.
Nothing warms my heart than seeing neighbors helping neighbors like those guys with the chain saws.
Here in the US we have natural disasters all the time. Hurricanes on the Atlantic & Gulf coasts, tornadoes in the center part of the state, earthquakes on the west coast. Blizzards in the north.
    The problem here.
Many people EXPECT the government to come save their rear ends IMMEDIATLY. It just does not work like that. It takes time to get the resources gathered and then moved and delivered and that's here in the USA where we have the ability the move things like no other. It still takes time. You have to be able to support yourself and your family for at least a week and in some cases two weeks if you are in a remote area.
I've been watching many video's on the aftermath of Odette and a few things are extremely clear.
    * Odette was a massive storm with a very wide damage path
    * The spirit of many Filipino's is just amazing to behold. Still smiling & laughing
So happy to see your parents house survived with minimal damage. Looks like mom gets to redo the garden.

im so glad i found this video. atleast I am able to see and know how the typhoon affected Dauis area. I saw the news about the typhoon and saw how it affected other parts of bohol, and it broke my heart. I am based in the UK but my family is in Mariveles Dauis. I haven't heard from my family for 4 days now. i have no other contact. I don't know how they are and don't know what the state of our property is in. I am glad you are safe and so are the other residents. I am still trying to reach my family and praying they are alright. If by any chance you can pass by Mariveles.... please let me know. thank you

Glad to see your house and family survived well under the circumstances. I understand why many want to live in the province. We didn't get electric back in my condo in Cebu City for about 12 days. The generator ran out of fuel and a week later with fuel, it would only run a couple of hours/day. Internet is still down more than 3 weeks later. Water is reliable again for the past week but many have to wait for the water truck to fill containers.

YYYikes! Thanks for the report. Many electric power lines are down. My guess is that electricity won't be on for 6 weeks. Do you have Richli water? It could take that long to get water service as well. No electricity = no pumps. We're in the US but we have a house in Songculan.

    • @BoholisAwesome

Yup its less expensive to build a dream house in the Philippines than in a foreign land of course!but because of all the yearly typhoons it can ended up with disasters most times. So its not worth it, considering the logistics and government enforcements are so slow there i rather not. Even if u build a mansion to whatever u want there if alot of times theres no running water sometimes it’s stopped due to shortages and the electric power most of the times are out, so it makes no sense. Thats y i sold my house there! goodluck

I will never understand why westerners invest in land or condos in third-world countries, when they essentially really can't own anything, and the rules and regulations change overnight, as in they're meaningless. Rent a nice house in a nice neighborhood, or a nice apartment, it's dirt cheap and you don't have any upkeep or maintenance issues, period. You call the landlord whenever things break down, or simply walk away and find an even better place, again, dirt cheap. Invest in your own western country where you presumably have real laws, regulations and transparency, none of which exist in SEA for a foreigner. What's the point of all this except creating headaches for yourselves and throwing money away. If it's just to gift to your gf or wife that's obviously fine, since it can't be in a foreigners name anyway, but what woman will want to sit out in a remote home alone eventually, after the husband is gone, it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. SEA cultures are incredible tribal, they like neighbors close by, like really close, as well as walking distance to local shopping like food etc...this is so dumb and only westerners come up with these ideas. Unbelievable really.
