If I remember correctly, when Matt Groening sent the Mother Simpson ep he told Fox to roll all the credits, no interruptions from the local news. Glad Matt made that decision.
@@coquimapping8680 Ehh not really, most are just the standard credit role and most of the time the gags are there only for the moments before itll cut to the news. A sole exception is in the Blowfish Episode.
I’m pretty sure I’ve commented this under one of your videos before, but I always let it be known that Scenes From The Class Struggle in Springfield is my favorite episode of the entire series and season seven is probably the greatest season of television ever produced. And I can gush about how good Marge Be Not Proud is for countless hours. I just really love Marge.
Her desperately trying to hide that she only has one dress is so sad. That was one of the first pieces of media that taught me about the way wealthy people have someone’s subtle, but often not, in-group signals, via her failing to emulate them over a protracted period.
I lived in Knoxville, TN so Bart on the Road has a special place in my heart. The day after the episode aired, the mayor was on TV talking about being concerned about the portrayal of the city. Then he assured the audience that he and several members of the city council had thrown rocks at the Sunsphere and could assure us it had not fallen over.
That’s wonderful. I always wondered what would happen if someone imitated it. Glad it’s been tested lmao. (Though you gotta wonder.. what if the thousandth rock is the one that does it??)
You know, "There's No Disgrace Like Home" and "Scenes from the Class Struggle in Springfield" are like mirrorings of each other. For instance, one ends with them getting a new TV, one begins with them fixing the old one. One has Burns cheating in the shack race, one has Burns cheating in golf. Burns' house and the Country Club both give off a similar feel. Both episodes have one member of the family trying their hardest to feel normal while the rest are just along for the ride. And one is episode 4 of it's season while the other is episode 14 of it's. Seems to me like they'd make a logical Simpsons Showdown.

Summer of 4ft 2 is my all time favourite Simpsons episode. I’m not even a huge Lisa fan but it’s just so perfect to me. I grew up always trying to be someone else in order to gain friendship..so the story and struggle is relatable. Very funny and heartwarming episode.
Some years back, I was stumped about what to get my grandmother for Christmas. “See if you can find a CD of some old singer for her,” my mother suggested. “Andy Williams?” I asked, thinking back to Nelson in the Bart on the Road episode. “Yes! She likes Andy Williams.” So my grandmother received a CD of Andy Williams Christmas Hits thanks to the Simpsons
'The Curse of the Flying Hellfish' is one one of my favourite episodes. The animation is gorgeous and there are some astoundingly touching moments, and the jokes are hilarious: "Quit yer snickerin'! I spent three years on that turlit!", "OUR RESIDENTS *BOOM* ARE TRYING *BOOM* TO NAP!", "How long was that?", "Hey fun boys! Get a room!".
“Summer of 4ft2” is the first episode of this show I ever watched. I was at my Dad’s house when I was a kid and it came on TV halfway through the episode. He was a fan so he started recording it so we could watch it again later. Because it started halfway, Homer throwing the fireworks down the sink is the first scene I ever saw. It’s probably my most rewatched scene in the series because it brings me so much nostalgia and because I had ZERO context watching it for the first time. I also had no context for Lisa’s story, but I knew it felt special. We started collecting The Simpsons seasons on DVD, and when we bought S7 I was FINALLY able to watch the first half of the episode and get the context I had been missing. I’d have to say this is the most meaningful episode of the entire show to me personally, so I’m happy to see it rank so high here on your list!
I've been watching the real jims for a while now. But I've just realised therealjims has absolutely nailed the art of the slide show. Nothing too flashy, not too much information at a time, but *keeps it moving* constantly, always something new to look at with good pacin. I wish I knew this in high school
Summer of 4'2 is possibly my favorite Simpsons episode ever. The way it ended the season, that had been so wacky, in a so sweet and realistic family story. I felt good for Lisa. It was like a short independent movie.
It's such an odd, out-of-place episode. To me it always feels like a mix of Season 2 and one of the post-Golden Age seasons, but before the quality really fell off the cliff.
"It contains a rare Mary Worth in which she advises s friend to commit suicide. Thank you," has got to be the best throwaway line NOBODY ever mentions.
To be fair, Bart sells his soul is the only episode that could've taken the first spot. That's such a fantastic episode in general. Also, Bart on the Road deserves some more credit, that's an episode me and my family still reference (ANDY WILLIAMS!). Also, season 7 probably has my favorite treehouse of horror. That 3D anination/irl sequence at the end is such a perfect way to end it.
I feel like the Raging Abe Simpson episode is one of, if not, the most underrated episode from the golden age of the show. Such a fun, unique episode deserves more attention
You know what I love about Marge Be Not Proud? The video game character references before they became incredibly commonplace and expected in cartoons. Best part is, Sonic actually reciprocated. In the Lego Dimensions game, Sonic actually WILL reference the "Takeittakeittakeittakeit" line if he interacts with Bart. The Simpsons actually got a character to acknowledge their own parody in an official capacity.
Thanks for another excellent video! I'm really glad that I found your channel, and I can't wait for your review and analysis of Season 8! The fact that Treehouse of Horror 6, and Scenes from the Class Struggle in Springfield, are outside of the Top 10, show just how strong this season is. Also, Bart has always been my favorite Simpsons character, so if you say that Bart wins the season, then I suppose that it makes sense that Season 7 is my favorite!
One of my favorite parts of 22 Shortstories about Springfield is the musical transitions. I also have a soft spot for Selma stories and a Fish Called Selma is definitely in my top 3 Selma episodes. Summer of 4ft 2 takes the spot as my favorite episode of this season. My dad had this episode on a VHS episode from a recording of its original airing and we would watch it every summer for nearly 15 years
Marge Be Not Proud legit gives me anxiety. I think cause as a kid it shook me to see Marge acting so disappointed and cold towards Bart. When she doesn't say goodnight properly 💔😭 Also Bart getting in real trouble for theft felt like really high stakes all of a sudden. The security guard really intimidated me haha
I spent most of my childhood without either of my parents’ presence, so Mother Simpson really hits hard for me. It made me realize my parents are humans too and made me question if either of them felt regret about not being around. That ending, even seeing the still image of it made me teary eyed. So yeah I’d say it’s my favourite episode from this season.
Much apu about nothing might be my favorite episode of all time. The opening bit with the bear is hilarious, I still quote the "we're here! We're queen! We don't want anymore bears!" And the last few years have proven that the issues they tackle in the episode are just as relevant today as they were 20+ years ago.
Marge be not proud was one of the first episodes I ever saw from a 4 episode disc (others on there were Lisa military camp one, Mark Hamill one and lottery one) but Marge be not proud always hits hard as an emotional episode, it's still one of my favourite episodes, especially for Lee carvallo's putting challenge 😂👍
Summer of 4ft2 is so nice man. The colour pallet justs screams summer and its just so wholesome aghhhh. Makes me want to go camping with my friends Also love the mario brothers and zelda music in the background man hahaha very nice
I always forget which episodes are in which season. But damn, this list is on fire. You really couldn't have made a wrong pick, and I'd be happy with your top 10 in just about any order. Can't wait for some space coyote though!
Man, I just love Oakley and Weinstein as creators. Their two seasons of The Simpsons, Mission Hill that deserved so much better, their supporting creative work on Disenchantment, those guys just know how to make me laugh and how to make me feel in equal, incredible measure.
Season 7 Simpson's....Golden age of HOW FRIGGIN FUNNY THE SHOW STILL WAS! Too many golden moments from Rag on stick, Lisa the vegetarian and of coarse....the " Highly Unusual " viewing pleasures of Comedy Central!
My top ten before watching the video 10. Who Shot Mr Burns part 2 9. 22 Short Films About Springfield 8. Scenes from the Class Struggle 7. THOH 6. Marge be not proud 5. Lisa the Vegetarian 4. King-size Homer 3. Summer of 4 ft 2 3. Bart Sells His Soul 1. Home Sweet Homediddly-Dum-Doodily So many greats in this season
My favourite thing about Uncle Moe’s family feed bag is… no one forced him to do those particular gimmicks. He wasn’t buying into some franchise with rules and procedures. He could’ve chosen something he wouldn’t have found humiliating and infuriating… but he didn’t! Also I always loved/was oddly mesmerised by the deep-fried champagne bottle and the husband/boyfriend eating part of the neck! For so many reasons, like, what happened to the champagne inside it lmao. Or just the absurdity of eating glass like a delicacy. Deep fried glass at that!
Those two episodes with Grandpa Simpson that was aired after the 22 short films of Springfield are perhaps how great Season 7 was for the Simpsons. A bit of craziness followed by an action packed episode with a real mystery about it.
Scenes from a Class Struggle in Springfield is my favorite for a few reasons. While it’s not the funniest episode, it’s an incredible character development episode for Marge. She’s kind of an inherently tragic character as she sacrifices so much of herself for her family. But once she’s given the chance to experience a new social environment, she thrives almost immediately. I don’t think she means to lash out at Homer and the kids as much as she does, but seeing her be slightly more selfish was a refreshing change of pace.
Marge Be Not Proud is my favourite episode of the Simpsons because it completely emotionally destroyed me as it reminded me of the painful feeling that things will never get better that I had during times I really upset my mother. I think almost everyone would have experienced at least once and even though things always turn out okay it still hurts like all hell which makes the ending of Marge Be Not Proud even more impactful in my eyes as it tapped into that feeling that I get when things are resolved and go back to normal. The other thing I love about Marge Be Not Proud is that it has Marge wonder whether she went wrong when bringing Bart up which again I feel like most parents end up wondering at one point in their lives. The episode just emotionally destroys me but in a way that I appreciate as it reminds me of the whole pallet of emotions that you go through in ones relationship with their mother.
This is, probably, the most tightly plot-oriented of all classic seasons, next to S2, and that has most obvious encompassing theme through its course: the season of revelations and retrospection, diving into history behind established characters and setting, growing into full “family saga”, tying together paths of individual characters and the town as whole, “22 Short Films About Springfield” just punctuates this theme, highlighting grand scheme. Probably, because of that, season forming solid piece of narration, it’s harder to me single out episodes without thinking about them as part of big thing. But seeing the season as whole unwrapped piece of some long story (get forget about lack of continuity or actual recurring plotlines) is truly fascinating. Imagine seeing it for first time, knowing nothing of what comes next, I get strong impression that series going in new direction, building with all these unfolded secrets to some massive arc centered on big changes of some kind (can it be that upcoming movie was intended to being built on it?). And, after watching “Who Shot Mr Burns?” series, I just get convinced in intentional epicness of this season all more. Honestly, I even start thinking that WSMB 2-parter could make even more impact be it placed in the end of *this* season instead of previous, even more so as second part reaches heights in bizarre, twisty, even-more-referential plot turns and humor, not mention sort of ridiculous resolution, which seems to be right at home in S8. I still admire S8, as its concept ties well with S7: even if expect actual continuous storybuilding from previous season can be vain, in terms of episodic series it takes next step from advancing depths of characters and setting, it starts to play on that establishment, creating stories upon already known and expected scenarios and arrangements, putting characters in new places, genres, dynamics, spoofing (further than even) various cultural phenomena, including these from which the series spawned in the first place. Still would prefer if it returned afterwards to the same profound storytelling as S7 offered. But I digress. Favorite episodes (again, without ranking save top-5)? “Bart Sells His Soul”, here’s I’m not original either. Coupled with my common bias toward Bart-centered episodes which also make attempt in psychological character study and some of sibling-bonding “schmaltz” as well, this being one of the last in whole series, probably, such intellectual kind of episodes, but not last of esoteric ones, for sure) Even if drama supposed to be all in the head of Bart, it’s still full of suspense and empathy toward Bart, with fairly cathartic ending to boot. And, as stories of individual family members, put in the same season notably, tend to parallel and supply each other, this one personal self-searching story matches well with “Lisa The Vegetarian”, in which she also gets, in different way, on path of self-affirming personal faith, no matter how inessential for ones around her it could seem. (And I find interesting how expressed by her in the end of episode concept of “soul”, wherever she did pick it, foreshadows her eventual conversion in Buddhism, it’s actually that naturally fits her views, one can wonder why it doesn’t become apparent thing earlier.) All episodes that provide insight at aforementioned dynamics and unknown ties between characters (Mr Burns surely is recurring star of that season, and his prickly history with titular family goes deeper one could expect): “Mother Simpson”, “…Flying Hellfish” - second one also doubles as episode in genre of “exciting high-stake adventures and investigations of Bart Simpson”, especially prominent in earlier, 1 to 3, seasons, that incidentally treated Abe with due respect and sympathy he re-gain to himself, even if only in the eyes of Bart, in that one. “Bart on The Road” - all built on established dynamics of characters again, involving and tying together two units: Bart and his friendly circle of misfits (never since being such close together as here), and Homer/Lisa always endearing parent-daughter bond, as different they can be in theory, involved in troublesome adventure and managing to meet ends of it. Additional points to Homer for parental responsibility and quick wits (in expense of plant safety, but at least this time it had external necessity), Lisa really influences him for better. "Sideshow Bob's Last Gleaming", which is, in my opinion, almost serves as literal “last gleaming” to his established personality (as nicely “Brother From Another Series” caps his “arc” and gives brief, but compelling conclusion to his enmity toward Bart, I suspect, if not shout-out to “Frasier”, it could not exist at all…), also, as other things through this season, returning it to its roots from very first appearance - to unfortunate, and too much immersed in vanity and thirst for fame, well-intentioned extremist type, in the same time retaining his quirks, high-brow pretensions and comical pathos (maybe, next time demand marmalade when threatening people with terroristic act, as easy to do it in Springfield?). Both Lisa-developing episodes (“Iconoclast” and “Vegetarian”), when she stands for her principles, but also learns to be respectful (or, at least, indulgent) to beliefs of other, as far as it doesn’t break up and estranges people. It’s great character growth, no matter again how subsequent additions to franchise stale that development. My personal sympathies go to “Lisa The Vegetarian”, as disproportional retribution of wasting that pig/ruining BBBBQ can be, sentiments of kid having her newfound, yet strong beliefs getting waved off by seemingly the whole world, including her own family, are understandable, and emotional payoff just natural. Plus lot of additional humor: storybook village, family reunion of Flanderseses, even Very Special conclusion with guest stars is ridden with it, and gives some building to upcoming arc of Apu, shading some light on his ways of assimilation. And, naturally, this little arc of Lisa concludes in "Summer of 4 Ft. 2" (I think this video encapsulates its themes perfectly, so I have nothing to say). It’s truly Lisa-shaping season, to think about it! (Poor Bart, to lesser extent, as always, gets his dose of crime-and-punishment treatment, and it’s evident that starting with its season, show starts demeaning him increasingly, sadly, to make better contrast with Lisa, possibly.) Honorary / “Great and favorite, just not on top” awards (in order of appearance): "Scenes from the Class Struggle in Springfield" - yet another Marge-suffering episode, but with somehow happy (if unacknowledged for Marge, soft version of her own “Summer…”, perhaps) resolution, anyway, I like to see all variations of that Chanel suit on her, proper Marge-service)); "Homer the Smithers" - writers do love Burns/Homer dynamics, not as intense this time, but still with explosive consequences, also another (rare) episode which gives insight of humanity of Smithers and his ever-unfortunate conditions as deadly devoted assistant. "A Fish Called Selma" - another fulfilling character study, for two characters at once, also giving most noble, empathetic moment to Selma ever. "22 Short Films About Springfield" - while I can’t say that I like this episode in its entirety (it’s anthology from different writers after all), concept of this one is highly welcomed, and I like when shows using it manage to make the most from it. Some individual sketches are great on their own, aside of obvious contender, I like one of Dr Nick (scenario sort of similar of “Cape Feare” trial scene), Maggie in newspaper vending box and Lisa’s hair saga. (And “Tomfoolery of Professor Frink”, naturally, but I just like anything of Prof. Frink.) As whole, it’s rather easy to say which episodes I don’t like (not fully dislike, but not ones I would recommend, and prone to rather skip): in this case, it’s "Two Bad Neighbors", rather “teen Simpsons” by spirit.
Scenes from the Class Struggle in Springfield is the best Marge-centric episode in my opinion. We see a side of her that's new but not unusual either. (Bart on the Road, Lisa the Iconoclast, and Treehouse of Horror VI are in my Top Ten as well. I love how well-crafted the 3D segment is when it easily could have been so dated and stale.)
Paul and Linda jamming out to Apu's rendition of Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band while Lisa slowly backs away horrified is possibly my favorite joke in the show. They just love it so much. They're so happy.
I just found your channel a day ago, and I can't stop watching the videos. I finally found someone who appreciates the simpsons as much as I do. Keep up the good work and I hope your channel continues to grow.
22 Short Films About Springfield is my favourite episode of the Simpsons. I have loved the Steamed Hams sketch since I first saw it so many years ago. The Back to Winnipeg scene in Bart on the Road always makes me laugh out loud each time I see it as well. That said this season might just be the most iconic for stories and memorable scenes as there are just so many, no wonder the choice was difficult.
"The curse of the flying hellfish" is an episode that I always thought was from an earlier season, I don't know why... there's a huge disconnect for me between that episode and something like "Bart on the road" I found myself losing interest a little when I got to that episode in my last marathon attempt. I don't know if it's the lisa story or the bart story which had a few funny gags but overall left me wanting a little more.
For years I could've sworn that "Lisa the Vegetarian" was a season 3 or 4 episode. It's hard to remember that there were so many episodes, and good episodes, where she wasn't a vegetarian since it's such a big part of her character. And then there's the fact that it stuck to this day and wasn't an episodic thing because to the deal the McCartney's made for their appearance.
Love your videos so much! And I can't wait 'til you get to the middle, lesser-loved seasons. Your take on Season 9 will be fascinating! You always manage to find a positive angle in everything you review.
Homer-Pa-Looza is one of the best Simpsons episodes, period. It perfectly encapsulates the 90s, and to me the 90s will always be the Simpsons era. Maybe it's nostalgia for a simpler time with kick-ass music, but I digress. "I used to be with It, but then they changed what It was, and what I was with was no longer It, and what was now It seems weird and scary to me.... And it will happen to you!"

Two Bad Neighbors 1. Home Sweet Homediddle-Dum-Doodily Hon men: Who Shot Mr. Burns Part 2, Bart Sells His Soul, King Size Homer, Homerpalooza
Great video. I had forgotten which epidsode the "Ow! My fricken ears," joke came from. I also loved the Treehouse of Horrors from that year with the early 3D animation and the Utah Teapot reference which back then was a throw away somewhat obscure joke which has become as ubiquitous as say the Amiga bouncing ball for tech references.
I'm sad that Bart on the Road didn't get into the top 10, it's my favourite episode of all time. It hits just right for me. That spin-round shot whilst they're driving was amazing, and it has some of the funniest jokes imo not just from the Simpsons but that even rank up there for me when compared to some of my absolute favourite comedy shows like Blackadder goes Forth and The Inbetweeners. I particularly love the credits joke where Marge is just getting all the phone calls from the people Bart has interacted with throughout his journey, that gag never fails to have me in stitches.
I enjoy your channel ,you always have great insight. I am looking forward to your next Simpsons histories video ,whoever you decide to go with I know I will enjoy it. Keep up the good work. It's always a good day when you post!
Pretty good episode rankings. I would definitely rate Class struggle a little higher myself but I wouldn’t put it on top myself because I’m not a Marge person. I might give 7 out of 10. I also like the Halloween special a lot and think it deserves more love too. 22 short films is also always a must watch for me from this season. Also I have to give special mention to “the Day the Violence died” that episode would easily be in my top five!
Great to see high praise for Marge be not proud, which is really a very good episode. I remember watching these episodes when they first screened. That was back in the days when you expected each new episode to be great -- and you were almost never let down. Marge Be Not Proud is fantastic, especially cause it has one of my favorite Homer gags: Him looking at the family photo where Bart is holding up the "I Stink" speech bubble, and going, "I don't remember saying that."
Yep. Dr Zeus. Good call. As a teenager at the time this aired, I was watching with my buddies, and the screaming hysterics that scene put us all in is something I still remember all these years later. It still puts a smile on my face.
Awesome list dude. Most of your top 5 are the same for me, but I'd probably have Mother Simpsons somewhere in there. I also agree that Curse of the Flying Hellfish needs more love, and it was fun just wondering where certain episodes would be placed on the list. Great job as always Jim.
As a momma's boy of a single mother in the 90s, Marge be not Proud was very emotional for me -- the thought of him getting the (totally deserved) cold shoulder was too much. I'd definitely rank it as the 2nd episode of the season too. My #1 spot, of course, would go to Scenes from the Class Struggle in Springfield. Say what you will, but I think Marge really won this season -- that epsiode made my cry as a kid, teen, and now adult. Plus, the fashion! I swear, 90s fashion was the best. xD
I too was a momma's boy to a single mom. I didn't socialize much and my mom didn't push me to do much. Her love was the biggest thing in my world, and the idea that you could lose that love flabbergasted me when I was 10.
I still come across the ol' "It's just a little dirty, it's still good, it's still good." meme to this day, that episode was great. I think this is the season I remember most things from too, it was so damn good.
I have been rewatching all of the Simpsons in order, so I have been putting off watching your Top 10s before I complete each season, and quite honestly, even though Bart Sells His Soul is THE all time classic, I gotta put my money on Raging Abe Simpson. That is just the coolest episode ever, with Grandpa's WWII stories, the mystery and tension of the tontine, and Mr. Burns just being the most evil he's ever been (except for maybe when he tried to block out the entire sun, but that's whatever). It's my favorite Simpsons episode visually, and while there's not the most laughs per minute as some of the gut busters, it's probably the one I go back to the most out of all of Season 7.
I also love how King Homer showcases the difference between the fantasy and reality. This is something that most people can relate with as we have all had situations where we see it in our mind being one way but the reality is completely different and somewhat disappointing.
I love the "THRILLHO" joke because he would have had just enough letters to spell "MILHOUSE".
Holy Shit I never realized that
Boba Fett Jay C this man is on another level
Honestly lost my mind laughing at that scene when I recently rewatched this season. God damn I miss the 90s.

I love the fact that he doesn't. Means we know he's doing this purely out of fun and not pressure.
It would be awesome if he could make a career out of this, though his content is probably too niche sadly. It’s a shame because he’s one of my favorite creators and it seems like he always puts a huge amount of work into every video

Well, you're an odd fellow, Jims. but i must say, you rate a good season.
This is a disgustingly underrated comment.
This should be pinned, tbh
I love that the “just missing out on this list” for this season and season 6 is like 8 episodes over ten just goes to show how good these seasons are
I've always thought Marge Be Not Proud is one of the most underrated Simpsons episodes, glad to see you put it so high.
meanwhile he did not include the 2nd part of who shot mr. burns or treehouse because hes watched or talked about them enough lol...they are clear top 10 picks...also scenes from the class struggle is a clear underrated episode
+Asmosis Jones
Tbh treehouse 6 is in my top 15, best treehouse by far.
You have 10 minutes to move your car, your car is being pressed into a small cube, you have 10 minutes to move your cube... Phone rings, burns " is it about my cube" solid gold joke.
Summer of 4ft 2 is my all time favourite Simpsons episode. I’m not even a huge Lisa fan but it’s just so perfect to me. I grew up always trying to be someone else in order to gain friendship..so the story and struggle is relatable. Very funny and heartwarming episode.
Extremely relatable!

Aurora borealis? At this time of day? At this time of year, localized entirely within your kitchen?
He cuts it kinda close.
Andy Williams!
I didn’t think he was going to do Moon River but then bam, second encore!
I'm glad you ranked Marge Be Not Proud so high, because it's literally my favorite episode ever.
15:22 "... the most confident of the Simpson family..."
Excuse me but did you SEE the snowman Homer makes of himself in Marge be not proud?!
Question. What do I do when I have 7 episodes I want to put into my Top 5? Can I just add decimal points in between?
Great content per usual

Yeah it ok
Just make a top 7. It's your channel. You make the rules.
I don't think you're being honest enough with yourself. Deep down you know there can only be five.
Oh, TheRealJims.. Remember: whatever happens you have a fan base, and they're truly proud of you.
"Marge Be Not Proud" might be in my Top 10 for the whole series. It's also one of my favorite Christmas episodes from any show.
Summer of 4'2 is possibly my favorite Simpsons episode ever. The way it ended the season, that had been so wacky, in a so sweet and realistic family story. I felt good for Lisa. It was like a short independent movie.
I thought i was the only one "sweet merciful crap my car!" Is one of my favorite lines
The "sleeps with the fishes" bit is one of my favorite jokes in the whole series. Purely genius in my opinion.
The tripe joke from Lisa the Vegetarian is probably one of my favourite Simpsons jokes ever.
I forgot Marge not proud was in season 7, feels more like season 3.
It's such an odd, out-of-place episode. To me it always feels like a mix of Season 2 and one of the post-Golden Age seasons, but before the quality really fell off the cliff.
I watched it yesterday and had the exact same thought. It has a very old Simpsons vibe.
"It contains a rare Mary Worth in which she advises s friend to commit suicide. Thank you," has got to be the best throwaway line NOBODY ever mentions.
God, the pig flying through the air during the air during the credits always gets me.
'Maybe I'm Amazed' really sells the whole bit
Homer the Smithers is so underrated I swear
My fave episode ever
Well it's currently the 15th highest-rated episode of The Simpsons ever on IMDb, so I wouldn't say it's that underrated.
My #1 of season 7 and in my top 10 of the entire series.
It’s not underrated at all. It’s in most peoples’ Top 10 lists & ranked very high in Simpsons groups and IMDB
Same I keep forgetting how many golden jokes it has until the next time it airs.
"GO. GO......Slow down."

I found myself nodding and agreeing on the description of so many of these that you could say it's possible Season 7 was my personal favorite season
I feel like the Raging Abe Simpson episode is one of, if not, the most underrated episode from the golden age of the show. Such a fun, unique episode deserves more attention
I've been waiting for this since your season 7 retrospective video.

The entire Moe subplot in Bart Sells His Soul is hilarious and has some of his best moments imo.
Agreed
I’ll tell you where you can shove your freakin’ sodi too!
"I wash myself with a rag on a stick"
Still makes me laugh. I'm 35
Even the clapping from the journalists is funny
Much apu about nothing might be my favorite episode of all time. The opening bit with the bear is hilarious, I still quote the "we're here! We're queen! We don't want anymore bears!" And the last few years have proven that the issues they tackle in the episode are just as relevant today as they were 20+ years ago.
Season 7 is filled to the brim with so many iconic episodes, oh my god
Marge be not proud was one of the first episodes I ever saw from a 4 episode disc (others on there were Lisa military camp one, Mark Hamill one and lottery one) but Marge be not proud always hits hard as an emotional episode, it's still one of my favourite episodes, especially for Lee carvallo's putting challenge 😂👍
2:51 I see what you did there.
Summer of 4ft2 is so nice man.
The colour pallet justs screams summer and its just so wholesome aghhhh. Makes me want to go camping with my friends
Also love the mario brothers and zelda music in the background man hahaha very nice
I always forget which episodes are in which season. But damn, this list is on fire. You really couldn't have made a wrong pick, and I'd be happy with your top 10 in just about any order.
Can't wait for some space coyote though!
Season 7 is so amazing that almost any episode would be considered the greatest episode of any other season.
This is such an underexposed channel, shouted you out because we need more like you.

"Summer of 4 ft. 2" really resonated with me when it first aired, because I was an anxious tween at the time.
Bart Sells His Soul gives me a lot of nostalgia of my childhood everytime I rewatch it. One of my favorite episodes ever.
Remember Alf? He's back, in pog form.
(And I find interesting how expressed by her in the end of episode concept of “soul”, wherever she did pick it, foreshadows her eventual conversion in Buddhism, it’s actually that naturally fits her views, one can wonder why it doesn’t become apparent thing earlier.)
All episodes that provide insight at aforementioned dynamics and unknown ties between characters (Mr Burns surely is recurring star of that season, and his prickly history with titular family goes deeper one could expect): “Mother Simpson”, “…Flying Hellfish” - second one also doubles as episode in genre of “exciting high-stake adventures and investigations of Bart Simpson”, especially prominent in earlier, 1 to 3, seasons, that incidentally treated Abe with due respect and sympathy he re-gain to himself, even if only in the eyes of Bart, in that one.
(Poor Bart, to lesser extent, as always, gets his dose of crime-and-punishment treatment, and it’s evident that starting with its season, show starts demeaning him increasingly, sadly, to make better contrast with Lisa, possibly.)
Honorary / “Great and favorite, just not on top” awards (in order of appearance):
"Scenes from the Class Struggle in Springfield" - yet another Marge-suffering episode, but with somehow happy (if unacknowledged for Marge, soft version of her own “Summer…”, perhaps) resolution, anyway, I like to see all variations of that Chanel suit on her, proper Marge-service));
"Homer the Smithers" - writers do love Burns/Homer dynamics, not as intense this time, but still with explosive consequences, also another (rare) episode which gives insight of humanity of Smithers and his ever-unfortunate conditions as deadly devoted assistant.
Frink.)
As whole, it’s rather easy to say which episodes I don’t like (not fully dislike, but not ones I would recommend, and prone to rather skip): in this case, it’s "Two Bad Neighbors", rather “teen Simpsons” by spirit.
Agreed I love scenes from class struggle in Springfield amazing episode and best Marge ep or one of them
Paul and Linda jamming out to Apu's rendition of Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band while Lisa slowly backs away horrified is possibly my favorite joke in the show. They just love it so much. They're so happy.
I just found your channel a day ago, and I can't stop watching the videos. I finally found someone who appreciates the simpsons as much as I do. Keep up the good work and I hope your channel continues to grow.
Thanks! Glad you are enjoying them!
Keep up the good work, I really enjoy these reviews, countdowns, histories and mysteries.
I always thought it's from a later season, like season 12 or later, probably because of how quirky and plot heavy it is.
@@FlymanMS Yeah, same, I was surprised to find out it was from season 7.
I like Bart on the Road but it's wacky, like Maximum Homerdrive (s10) (that I love too), so a lot of persons think it's a Mike Scully's episode.
I believe you mean Raging Abe Simpson and his Grunbling Grandson in 'The Curse of the Flying Hellfish"

"Radioactive Man" is probably my favorite Season 7 episode. I love how sarcastic it is about Hollywood. And so many classic scenes.
Brilliant video as always!

I swear, 90s fashion was the best. xD
I love both but also Bart on the road
Every time Marge sees the CC TV footage and Bart confesses, I cry. Same with the ending with the picture he gives her as a Christmas gift.
I too was a momma's boy to a single mom. I didn't socialize much and my mom didn't push me to do much. Her love was the biggest thing in my world, and the idea that you could lose that love flabbergasted me when I was 10.
I know just how you feel man, as a momma's boy too this episode hurt and still does even today
Have you seen the movie Hackers? Everyone looks like a playable character from GTA. 90's fashion was wack
Spoiled.
We were so spoiled with quality in the mid-90's.
theres like 19 classic great episodes per season
The Bumblebee Man segment in 22 Short Films is my favourite. I just love the absurdity of it. And I think it's a bit underrated.
I like that it makes sense, his life is just like his job which is a fun way of subverting the expectations.
I also love how King Homer showcases the difference between the fantasy and reality. This is something that most people can relate with as we have all had situations where we see it in our mind being one way but the reality is completely different and somewhat disappointing.
Love this series, keep it up
