Which custom firmware is YOUR favorite for the XX series of handhelds? Also, should we get some money together for a psychologist for Zu? His wife says he wears the hat to bed.
My first XX was the 35XXH, and after watching Russ's video, I was all, "Yeah man, I wanna do it," and stumbled my way through installing Knulli... cause it's purdy. When I got my CubeXX, knowing that I was primarily gonna use it for GB and similar square systems, and would prolly never hook it to a TV, I just backed up the stock SD card and slapped it back in as is. I've heard the stock OS has gotten better, and I never used the old version, but this works fine. It's not as nice looking as Knulli, but I spend most of my time in the games, not looking at the OS.
I 100% agree with your takes. MinUI is my pick for devices like the original 35xx, wich struggles with stuff over PS anyway (also i would love to see it for the RG Nano). But for everything else, MuOS is the way to go, especially for newbies. Its still simple, but theres so much stuff to get Into - but at your own pace. Not only Themes or adding Games, but Portmaster, Moonlight, you name it. I'd love to see MuOS eventually branch out into other chipsets.
I'm Team Knulli here. The other CFWs aren't bad, but I like how customizable and aesthetically pleasing it can be compared to the others. And of course, the optimizations are a big part of it as well.
Sabe.. I went for the modified stock, it just works. An no extra steps to add games or conect to network. It just works and that´s the important part when you gift it to somebody. 👍👍
I'm totally converted to MuOS lol There's a decent amount of customization but unlike the CubeXX for example in which you may want some major tweaks, I don't really have any issues with most of the default settings using it. It's one of the best plug and play experiences I've had.
If you have a steam deck and a microSD card reader you can hook that up to the steam deck, boot into desktop mode, and copy files that way. That's what I did. Still a pain but one way to get around the rocknix format issue
Anyone knows whats the difference between rocknix and knulli? They seem the same, my favorite is muOS ive sink some time to customize theme and artwork and it looks almost as good as knulli granted took way more effort, only one i have not tried is rocknix and im very curious how it performs does it have portmaster etc gonna give it a try
I tried Knulli, it was beautiful but the performance for even GBA was bad. Not unplayable, for some people maybe even barely noticeable but I did notice. I returned to stock OS and I'm having a blast playing mainly GBA GB, SNES and Pokemon Mini. I'll try MuOs soon because I want to be able to play AM2R.
I've been using the alpa build of knulli on the 34xx, and it's working pretty well .My only gripe is i can't adjust screen brightness. It's either hidden in the menus or not an option at this time.
I usually install the Modded Stock OS. It's pretty fine for me everything works and all, with custom boot logo and new wallpapers (except for PS1 multidisc, I had to run a script to fix it). But overall it's good altough I know Mu OS and Knulli are amazing (with the last slow to boot up? I don't remember).
What about bluetooth audio? I went with Knulli since it had it and worked with the 35XX H. It's a little wonky but it works. Knulli also seemed to have the most seamless HDMI out.
I'm at the point now where I'm trying to discover older games that I never got to play. I could never get the box art to work right on MUOS and just having the name doesn't really tell me what the game is. Because of that I prefer Knulli. I love having all of the art and video so I have an idea really quickly if it's a game I want to try or not. I love Rocknix on other devices but it's been really buggy on my 34xx. But I know it's super early days for that one so that's to be expected.

MuOS but I'm about to put Knulli on my RG-Cube XX. 😊

stay with MuOS!

There's talk of it coming to the RG Arc, which would be interesting.

I left Knulli for the Modified stock . Its pretty decent now and with a little
Tweakings, i got my own theme, syncthing and netplay
Are there any tutorial videos on how I can do that??
Sabe.. I went for the modified stock, it just works. An no extra steps to add games or conect to network. It just works and that´s the important part when you gift it to somebody. 👍👍
You can also setup some sort of dual boot for modified stock and minUI, that was my setup before switching to muOS
what about MODIFIED STOCK?? i use it on ALL my Anbernics, and i LOVE it!!
Please make a Video on IP TV on MuOS! 🤩
Say no more
And playing videos as well 🤠
I would love a vid on this too, can't wait to watch some nickelodeon on my sp!
@@Watsitsname08 I know right!
Finally... an amazing video from ZU... 😅
You are improving, nice work 👏
Oh! I didn't know Rocknix was on the 40xx! I think I'll give it a try! Already a happy Knulli user.
Thanks Zu!
howdy zu!! I had no idea rocknix was so far along already. that's pretty cool :)
Muos is goated. In general we don’t deserve the hard work any of these fw devs put into these devices for us nerds ❤❤ ty devs

I somehow avoided the XX line, but my friend is sending me an SP and I'm looking forward to messing it all up with a CFW. 😅
That SP is a great device, you'll have a blast with it! 😁
@@retrohandhelds I’m sure! But I’m also sure I’m going to be working on Knuli and getting frustrated with syncing save files. Lol

That's a good tip, thanks for sharing!
"If you're on Linux it's probably easier" Yes. Yes it is. You remember that old saying about Linux right? "Linux. It just works." 😛
The two thumbs down on this video are intimidated and scared of real Cowboys. Also, they only play Bratz and Barbie games on their E Waste machines
Lol, lmao
Psychic. I have the clamshell coming in the mail an im wondering if i should be doing mustard again or knuli

My heart yearns for an OS with the zsnes UI
Honestly, some of the muOS ones come close.

No Bluetooth controller support ruled muOS out for me. I'm on Knulli, and I'll probably be too lazy to switch if mu gets the support.

I’ve got an RG35XX+ and have JUST switched from the Stock to MuOS and love it - interesting to see everyone’s opinions though

I'm going to get muOS loaded on my RG 34XX this week.

Yeah, Rocknix on my SP wouldn't come back from the screensaver, so I ended up turning it off. Early days though, like you said.
Hey Zu what’s that game at 1:50? Is it Wonder Boy?
Yessir, for arcade
One of MuOS problem, it didn't switch network. You need to manually change it.
Hook me up brother Zu
MuOS all the way,..
I wish I knew how to quit Zu 🤠
Few can.
