The first thing I said to the Keep Of Kalessin guys when I had my interview with them was that I can't play Vengeance Rising :D No problem with my hands, but I can't hold that speed with double bass long enough yet. But I think I am getting there ;)
DUDE I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU MADE YHIS VIDEO. Keep of Kalessin is a very underrated band Also when you mentioned blast beat it was mostly during the double bass parts which aren't blast beats.
I believe the song "Apex Blasphemy" by Cattle Decapitation has a bomb blast (feet doing 16th note double bass with hands doing 8th notes each) at around 290 bpm or so, their drummer uses double strokes on feet, but the hands are still very fast.
I FREAKING LOVE YOU, YOU RESPECT METAL and you've accepted that you couldn't play somethingwith your feet (you must learn the double stroke at the double base drum to do it)
I think this is my favorite vid of yours, so far!! Funny as hell! Love this kinda video idea! Lol lol a few times , even when I think back! Thanks for sharing!!
Cool video, slightly inaccurate title - I've often heard insanely fast double bass patterns referred to as blast-beats, but for the record, the two are not the same. A blast-beat is defined by Adam MacGregor (of the math-metal band Creation Is Crucifixion) as "A repeated, sixteenth-note figure played at a very fast tempo, and divided uniformly among the bass drum, snare, and ride, crash, or hi-hat cymbal." Oddly enough, you can see both Vyl and Nechtan playing examples of actual blast beats in some of the clips you featured. This is definitely one of those ones where I think one has just been generally mistaken for the other in common parlance. For anyone else interested, Here's a fairly comprehensive video on the different types of blast beat, as compiled by Sam Paulicelli of Decrepit Birth, aka 66Samus th-cam.com/video/B4KNXi-SWWc/w-d-xo.html Here's an example of another black metal tune with an insanely fast blast beat th-cam.com/video/plh22lTpnjY/w-d-xo.html And here's some more footage (just for fun) of Nechtan playing some not-as-fast-as-Vengeance-Rising double bass but over a longer period th-cam.com/video/0NWZdEQ5vek/w-d-xo.html
Digital Deathsquid- it is very bizarre that you quoted one of my buddies (and former bandmates) Adam MacGregor (a guitarist, not drummer to boot!) on blastbeat definition. How and why did you arrive at this reference? ✌

I like how Eric plays the quadruple feet part "hand to hand" split, rather than the typical 4 - 16th note triplets per set of feet hemiola that everyone does. So played out.
😂dude you crack me up! Another great vid. Why the heck would those first couple "cover" guys even post a vid like that, excepting perhaps a before&after deal? Yuck.
that first dude is trying to do RRLLRRLL and i get alot of drummers do that but at this speed you just cant unless your using triggers and your bass head is so tight the head is gonna bust. thats why over the years of playing metal drums, i wasnt going to stoop down to basically bouncing my beaters on the head doing RRLLRRLL and calling myself a double bass master. ive always done RLRL and i always will. and because of that its easier to go that fast.
I Personally disagree. Have you seen for example drummers like Aaron kitcher, or the drummer from slaughter to prevail? Heel Toe certainly isn't cheating. I'm currently trying to learn it and although it may seem like "cheating" I guarantee the drummers that use it well have spent YEARS just to get it clean. It is insanely hard. But at the tempos some songs are at, it is nearly physically impossible to play double bass RLRL. And for the record, I don't use triggers or table tight bass drum heads and I am still able to achieve heel toe doubles? Also I disagree that it is easier to go fast RLRL. Its quite possible that because you haven't worked on heel toe enough, you just cant play the doubles. But being a complete ameture at heel toe a I can play much faster (granted not cleanly) than I can play singles after all of my double bass practice.
What drum beat/solo would you like to see me break down next?

You there yet?
Day one of asking Eric to make an entire “I don’t know what the heck I’m doing” lick. Full drumline.
4 Legged Eric isn't real, he can't hurt you.
4 Legged Eric:
I decided to take down my green screen. Betcha didn't know there was a beautiful beachfront view behind it!
wow nice
Good Morning
Wow, thats crazy!
That’s the first thing I noticed
They didn't have rooms like that when I was at 8th&I.

Wanja Gröger is amazing. He’s got tons of other great covers and content too
This is one hundred percent one of the funniest videos you've made!
chuck shuldinger rolled in his grave when you called that drum pattern a *blast beat*
Ironically Chuck Shuldiner’s bands never used blast beats
@@thinkpad20 they did on the satanic jam studio outtake and on one of their demos
Love how you’re branching out of just marching percussion stuff and exploring new things!
When will Carrmen Heights DBC’s show be finished?

Aaaaah yeah my favourite all time band
Eric I think you are amazing at drumming but those editing skills are sick too.
This is one of my favorite videos of yours yet Eric!!!
I was not expecting that ending 😂😂😂
Dude, I was soooo not expecting that at the end. That was hilarious! 😆
EMCProductios: This song is ridiculously hard on the bass drum.
Thomas Lang: Hold my beer.
I think this is my favorite vid of yours, so far!! Funny as hell! Love this kinda video idea! Lol lol a few times , even when I think back! Thanks for sharing!!
I love watching your videos with my dad. We think you’re really funny and good at percussion.
I searched for a video of you playing kit. I was not disappointed
I appreciate that you appreciate this 😁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁
Found this video after doing the same as you... Looking for that clean 20 second sextuplet run
What about a breakdown of dance of eternity? Loving these kit breakdowns btw.

Den Svarte Metallkatten Yeah when I saw 183 BPM I thought it would be like an actual 16th note hyper blast but it’s just double kick

It really sounds like a toilet bowl that it created another few sets of legs

Bruh I love that new background 👌
Vengeance Rising - Human Sacrifice, real classic band and album.
I saw kalessin live many years ago. They opened for behemoth and gojira. Kalessin and gojira stole the show. Vyl was so good. Great band.
How are you gonna march with all of those legs?
He could certainly use those extra legs when marching the extreme tenors!
The screen going red and shaking has me laughing so hard 😂

I laughed out loud!! Thank you!
I think you could also use a single pedal double kick and just done both feet on one pedal, but that wouldnt be as super epic cool as this was
Gotta say, I’m more of a fan of these drum kit song videos, than the marching drum vids, as one who plays on a kit often
I never expected to see Wanja in one of your videos. You can't escape the metal.
Non-metal heads: nickelback is too heavy
You should do a “who plays is best” with the drum solo in beast and the harlot by avenged sevenfold
Check out Bleak Flesh, Marco plays blasts at 340 BPM it’s crazy
You should look at "My Fears have Become Phobias" by As Blood Runs Black. Insanely fast kicks
you should look at Behemoth songs, Cattle decapitation, Nile, and Belphegor. React to David Diepold's covers and playthroughs.
Jeez o pete! Can you get shin splints or tendonitis from that?!
Oh maaan....ending = lulz
Fast double bass ≠ blast beat
2:33 I have that same pair of Double bass pedals
Just wondering
Where those Thomas Lang signature sticks you were using
The intro literally had me dying laughing
Great video !
Baaaaaast beats
Ambulance?!?! Suck it up, Marine!
I know this is a drumming video, but try playing this song on the guitar. Literally insane to do so (and it not be open, but palm muted)
Blastquake
They use Heel toe technique live
Good morning Eric
1:15 this is not a blastbeat, dude.
Marine Barracks on a Tropical Island!

You caused an earthquake at my place too! Could you come over and clean up the mess please?
Goodmorning
Check out Slave of My Art by Henker if you want to see even more absurdly fast bass drumming (it is actually quad bass)

1:16 I died
Hahaha that was funny :D

Do yo like metal
Is this song supposed to melt your drum head?
Cool vid but I didn’t hear any blast beats.
Hey can you please react to hbcu drumlines and marching bands.
yeah
Blast beat start at 1:20 during this song. No blast beat here. Funny video anyway.
Hate to say it but I don’t think you’ve ever seen Aaron Kitcher.

Looks away in Joey Jordison.
Bruh my single stroke roll isn’t even that fast
