Not a good idea. Pepper spray is illegal and using bear spray against a human is going to get you charged.
You showed a lot of class and self control for not spraying the guy who grabbed your son. A lot of fathers would have messed that guy up bad.
Class and self control not withstanding, a guy should be able to rig up that pepper spray with a nozzle like comes on a can of spray foam insulation for those guys that get right up in your face. The "O.G." looks like the kind of guy that spends the first half of the day looking for vacant houses from which to steal the electrical wiring, and the second half of the day spending the money he got from the recycling center getting drunk. As well as the kind of guy that's living in a tent in the woods because he sold his mobile home for scrap to pay off the child support debt he owed to his baby mamma - who's then using the money to pay off the tattoo she financed. The cops in Park City seemed kinda cool though.

That bit of wisdom is why the USA is imploding. In any relationship, family, marriage, cause or society needs everybody to co-operate and take each other's needs into account. That's not obedience, it's courtesy and common-sense. Boundless, ambivalent exercising of free-will with no interest in other's isn't a virtue, it's egocentrism.
Fluffy Little Bear you see, that's why I'm happy to not live in the US. There is a minimum consensus needed to live together as humans, and what you're actually describing, is not "freedom", it's anarchy - literally. Over here, 99.9% of the people agree with that. Looking at the pandemic, this is exactly why people over here live instead of dying like flies, why people still have work and income instead of mass unemployment, and why we're able to live our lives without too many inconvenience again. Wearing a mask in stores is nothing, and complaining about it just ridiculous.
