It isn't a bad movie though, it's one of the films in my selected recommendations, if I know the person is in to transgressive cinema, then I see no issue with it, otherwise, I won't.
I strongly recommend Martyrs, Audition and Frontiers. Yeh they're very shocking with the gore in places, but genuinely great films with a moral message at the core of their story. But if you can't stomach those 3, then I also reccomend avoiding the French film Inside (2007)
@@80s_Film_Fan Inside is way more shocking (imho) and disturbing than either of those. Martyrs must have hit me at the wrong time though because it's one of the few horror movies that made me legitimately cry at the end. I was destroyed from that movie for some reason!!
I haven’t seen all of these, but of the ones I have I’d say you should give Mother, Martyrs, and Audition a try. All had interesting stories backing the violence. I’d say Martyrs is definitely most disturbing though. Mother wasn’t all that bad and the infant’s part in it was mostly off screen. The thing that bothered me the most about it was the anxiety it gave me as an introvert who hates having strangers in my personal space. lol It felt like nightmares I’ve had so for me it was very effective and had a creative message. Audition was a beautifully made film and super creepy. The cinematography and attention to detail was amazing. The needle thing isn’t throughout the whole movie, and if that part bothers you, you can skip over it. Irreversible and A Serbian Film on the other hand are hard to watch… they just make you feel disgusted with yourself after watching so I wouldn’t recommend them.
Missing out on some really good horror there.. Martyrs, A Serbian Film, Irreversible, Audition, Anti Christ are all excellent movies. Yes hard to watch but worth while, if your a horror fan.. or should i say a fan of challenging cinema..
Audition and martyrs were phenomenal. I have only ever watched them once though ;) grotesque lives up to its name. Most effed up movie on this list by a mile. I'd add the French movie 'Inside' onto this list too
I agree with you 100% regarding Serbian film. I love horror and I refuse to watch it. Everyone evolved should be investigated thoroughly. Who the hell green lights shit like that? 😡
I recently tried to get my girlfriend to watch The Wicker Man (1973 version) and she flipped her lid at the scene where Edward Woodward's policeman witnesses islanders having sex outside in the dark, The Wicker Man is a personal favourite of mine but i ended up switching it off because of her reaction. I was gutted! But in hindsight, i have to respect other peoples feelings. I have not wished to view any of these films you mentioned because their content by synopsis alone is extremely disturbing, so i refuse to watch them. I know that The Wicker Man is tame by comparison.
“I’ve had lots of needles…..at the hospital, of course” made me proper chuckle. On the film choices, I’ve seen a couple but some of them I’d never consider watching. As a guy who's seen all 10 films, I would say that ALL of them are worth watching at least once, but that Grotesque and August Underground, while fun, have the least amount of story or substance. The other 8 are all HIGHLY recommended by me.

I've seen all 10 and would recommend Antichrist, Audition, Martyrs, Mother and Frontiere as being more than just the disturbing scenes. Murder Set Pieces is the most disturbing I've seen. Do you have lettrbox?
Of all these I would recommend thinking about trying Mother. There is a significant plot, a lot of symbolism, and it’s very fantastical and not that realistic. Also I’m not keen on the original ‘The hills have eyes’ & ‘I spit on your grave’ (original version) for the rape scenes, stick to horror rather than rape!

Coffin baby is one of the worst
Honestly, Martyrs isn’t that bad. Borderline boring, honestly.
I think you'd be ok with martyrs, hostel is more of a deliberate just for the sake of it type film👍👍🎃🎃
I will never watch Salo, House of Soddom
I forgot about Salo.
I watched this on TH-cam… Yeah, don’t watch it… By the way, I get flagged on TH-cam for saying the fuck word but I watched this on TH-cam?
What's "this"?
@ …. You sure???
It’s called “A Serbian Film” dude is an out of work porn star, gets hired by shady dudes to make money for his family. Has to do snuff type porn… dude does fucked up shit… it is ROUGH.
Ah, OK. It's because I discuss 10 movies, I wasn't sure which one you were referring to.
Always listen to your gut and never watch what can effect your spirit.
I refuse to watch Wolf Creek, Hostel, Conjuring, Paranormal Activity or anything really demonic.
Jesus is King
Taxidermia 2006 i found disturbing .
Never heard of that one.
@WolfmansGotNards it's definitely one of a kind , very different.
Watched Serbian. It is awful
Cmon wolf man you have to watch a Serbian film at least once
Heck no!
Mother! is a shite film. Missing nothing there
A Serbian Film was actually well shot and acted, can understand why you wouldn’t wanna watch it cos of its content
Martyrs and Irreversible are both pretty tough watches and I have to be in the right state of mind to watch them
Audition, most of the violence is implied
Frontier(s) was no worse than a Saw film tbh. Think you’d be ok with it
Deadgirl was a bit grim, maybe steer clear
Grotesque was just torture porn and very over the top. Avoid. Trash
AVOID THE AUGUST UNDERGROUND FILMS - far worse than A Serbian Film. Depraved. Gross. No merit whatsoever
Great list Barry I've seen a bunch of those films but some I don't care to watch. I have a list like that but my list is I just never care to watch a movie because I'm just disinterested one of them is the Godfather and Goodfellows I'm not into mafia movies I live in New Jersey I've seen enough of that shit in my life LOL don't need to watch it on film just does not interest me but the rest of the world loves it good for them
