Memory is such a weird thing. I have crystal clear memories of random conversations I heard while in a stroller at the age of ~18 months but I often forget conversations I had with my wife 10 minutes prior.
my earliest memory is from when i was two, i had just been given a bath and ran down the hall jumped on the scales and thought to myself "I am two years old and twenty pounds" and then ran off. i attribute this memory forming because of the patterns of two for whatever reason.
I remember things several ways: 1. Luck or unconsious, i remember stuff without meaning to. 2. I remember stuff by repetition, both practical and theoretical. 3. I remember stuff by having a detailed discussion, i wont remember the exact details but the gist of the whole coversation i can recall quite far in the future. There might be other ways i remember stuff but i dont recall them right now funilly enough.

The way I Remember things is by playing/reliving it in my head with all the emotions i had at that moment. Which can be really fun to get that happy boost again from a good situation. But, it can also get me down. Something I learned a while ago is to not always trust my memories. Those are very subjective and can be entirely different from the real thing. Which often is the case with some of my old memories.
I hate my memory, I have an eidetic memory but it hurt so much so I taught myself to store it away so now I have to think really hard to remember anything it takes like 5 minutes to find the memory I want to remember no matter when it happened.
I love your videos Sifd. Started watching your modded brotato videos and have been hooked ever since. I love your vibe and you just seem so real and authentic and I love the unedited feel of your videos. Don’t ever stop making content man ❤️❤️
the way i remember stuff is that occasionally, i just have things randomally stored in my core memory drawers. i would also remember the thought i had at that moment.
I actually think in a bisected manner such that my thoughts start one place, goes to multiple perspectives, GOES to debate on it simultaneously, gives me net sum answer for the situation. this happens in a split-second nowadays but it took real life seconds at first. My memory is held by those perspectives, I run by word chains and all of those search my memory simultaneously. Its tiring but I enjoy how I can find connections between things easily. Edit: Wow. @@J.J.F469 Ah. I had gone through tests actually, sadly it's not ADHD. It's more akin to me deciding that I want to think differently for something specific. I can absolutely reign in this whole system and just think normally.
my mind used to be what ever excited me, it didnt matter if it was good or bad but currently i can only really remember things that i speak to myself about CONSTANTLY or if its trauma related. its a frustrating mindset and ive been changing bit by bit but i still cant retain any of the good times really. its just like i remember the faces and how i felt in that moment.

For me, it's a trigger-based system for me. The trigger can be a word, an image, a though, ... If something familiar come up then I will remember the memories associated to it, if not, then it going back in the shell.
My memory is related to how I react to things, if I had an observable reaction to an incident or bit of information, I’ll remember it. Sometimes it’s like how Sifd said, like “why does that happen?” Or “that’s weird” I’ll remember what provoked that thought better. Occasionally I’ll read or hear something that sends a shiver down my spine (be it good or bad) and I’ll be guaranteed to remember that thing, like certain songs cause that reaction and the sound metal (a spoon or fork) makes on someone’s teeth.

I remember things when i meet a certain person or experience I have already done. For forcing me to remember, i just have to look at something and keep thinking about it in my head so when I see or experience the thing that I wanted to remember, I would remember it Right away
When I was younger, I could.. do something to my memory. For test-taking in school, I entered this sort of altered state of consciousness. Normally I remember things when something triggers an association, like I think most people do. But, during those tests, I _knew_ things rather than remembering them. Instead of the things in my memory being selectively perceptible when invoked, everything that I knew about the subject at hand was immediately obvious as if I were perceiving it like another sense. I "knew" everything that I knew about the subject being tested for and didn't really have to "think" consciously about my answers like I would if I were asked to think about a topic and then talk about it. AFAICT, this had to be some weird reaction to adrenaline or something, because doing it wiped me out entirely. It was common for me to breeze through 80% of a test and then just get overwhelmed with fatigue and have t put my head down for a nap. I would then wake up a few minutes later, panic again because I had no idea how much time remained, and burn through the last 20% of the test. In spite of passing out, I was the first person finished about 30% of the time. I have my own weird question for people regarding memory: As a superpower, would you rather have every true fact known by any member of mankind as part of your memory, or would you rather know what you know, but have those memories immediately present as if they're the data from another sense?
27:55 I do get it each time But it’s always just a shaky guess usually. In my mind it’s 50-50 when I guess but it happens to be right. I’ve noticed for the final spin, if you just keep your eye on it before the last rotation & focus on that spot alone, it usually cycles back to it so you can decipher if it moved from that last known spot. Then it’s either in the same spot you focused on Or its moved & you have another chance to get it right
Hey Sifd!! I have a condition that 2-4% of global population has that is called APHANTASIA. Its the condition of not being able to see images in your mind! I do have dreams with Images but while awake I cant see nothing other my eyes vision (“blind mind eye”). Those with this condition sometimes also has athoter condition called SDAM (severe deficient autobiographic memory) and I do also have that. So I dont have a lot of memories of growing up, also cant remember much of recent trips or vecations, etc. I do remeber things by topics and facts. Lets say I am forcely trying to remember some vacation like when I went to portugal 3 years ago I would only remember some facts like “I went to the X restaurant”, “were in that hotel”, “visit that place, that has that thing”
I think I have that as well, I can't visualise anything, as well as the memory issue. I thought I was the only one as everyone else I have asked are able to visualise things, I tend to ask how they imagine a red ball they are able to see it while at most I get the words "red" and "ball" as a mental auditory thing like I hear it with my minds ear or just my inner monologue.
when i look at something/hear it i usually remember everything about it. in other instances like languages for example, i only remember the words if i need them in a sentence, but i also dont pre-think my sentences, meaning pretty much my brain only remember things that are relevant to a moment's context
I can remember anything I can tie to something I already know. Anything that has a cause and effect or a problem I find interesting I also remember easily.
have you not heard that you can memorize a deck of cards through narrative? GREAT TOPIC!! Heimler's History Teachers channel throws a heck of a perspective at the concepts of remembering
I have a very bad memory except for concepts or connected information. I can still talk about topics from my school time relativ accurately, but i can not remember the name of a person i met yesterday. Sometimes it comes in handy for example someone can tell me his pin for his phone and i can search something but if i think about something else shortly after that the pin is forgotten. And im not very stressed because problems don't exist until they have to be solved or until my calendar is notifying me.
When it comes to memories I just recall it basically like a recording, but as a side note I did ask two of my younger sisters few back and one of them only can see images and other said she remembers it more like and outline with different color.
i don’t know how powerful it would be but ghost flame has an ability when upgraded to split after a certain amount of time, so like if you had a bunch of multishot and split and duration you could try and get a screen full of them possibly?
I think it depends on your personality type tbh. For me i mostly remember things with visual clues. For example if im driving i remember where to go by remembering positions of trees and stuff like that and if im talking to someone i mostly remember what they are wearing and where we were when it was said
I remember things by linking them to something I wouldn’t forget, I will just make a smaller thing attach to a bigger thing and once I remember it I’ll remember both of them. (Doesn’t work for more than a period of time if it’s isn’t a long term needed memory)
I involuntarily yelled in joy when I saw that Treant's Wreath. Incredible item, since it not only essentially negates all chip damage, But shield loss isn't health loss, so it doesn't proc Daredevil's max HP reduction,or lose you blood rooms! It's amazing, alongside Treant's Pauldron. edit: My personal way of remembering stuff is almost purely passion. If I love something,I remember virtually everything about it, such as the immune system. If I don't like something,i'll probably forget it very quickly. Don't exactly know much more about how I remember, though.
Memory palaces. I first heard the term in the novel "The Quantum Thief and I realized it's one technique I use. I feel like the examples you gave were loosely tied to the principle. Yours seems to be kind of physically artifact based, while hers had to do more with emotional artifacts, but artifacts all the same. While the third one was an interesting temporal sequential base. I imagine these are all artifact based as engramatically, memory is based on neural pattern recognition and association. Neuroplasticity plays a large role in the matter and I had some interesting studies on the subject of neuroscience and computer science a and cognition a few years back. We talked about alot of interesting things really, particularly Kurzweil, and... Hmm, it seems I'll have to have a walk around my memory pallace for a bit to recall, as it is im only seeing the images in tha palacial gallery meant to remind me of further engrams. 😅
If something is interesting I'll remember it, even if its something completely random, I'll basically "save" it anyway. I remember stuff I have "saved" through thinking. Like I'll be having a thought and several other pieces of information will pop up in my head that are relevant to the thought, even though I was never aware I knew all that
-I don't. My memory is garbage. Probably by just letting my mind wander, with it moving from one topic/memory to another related one. Also for the tracking shuffle thing, I can follow it easy when I'm not actually looking at it directly, but letting it stay on my peripheral.
I don't remember anything while simultaneously remembering everything. What I mean by this is short term I forget everything against my will most times. Long term if there's any relevancy of it to any topic at hand I just remember it in extremely meticulous vivid detail. (Had already gave this question or topic rather a lot of thought as improving my short term memory would be fantastic still no solution sadly)
My memory is primarly visual and action, but to access those memories are sorta compressed, like until Im doing the thing again my memory is locked to cursory things like Ive done before and people I know, but for like videogame controls I don't really remember them until I play the game again.
I like black holes more, they feel more versatile. I'd say their gravity effect needs to be stronger, absorb incoming projectiles and dmg aoe scale up to size. Last time I ran with a fullscreen Frost + Black Hole and Grimoire + Bobby Traps if you want more stupid ideas.
my memory is a strange beast at the best of times. I have a hard time remembering things that others would find important like birthday's or special dates that would hold personal meaning. Most often my memory is triggered in relation to things. I'll remember a move, song, phrase, or even what someone had said if I can find a connection or relation to what is currently being discussed. An easy to track example would be if someone started talking about the artist bob marley my brain makes a relation to his songs and I will remember a few lyrics of them.
About memory I have somewhat phenomenal memory so I can remember minuscule details of conversation/deed/event and so on. But there is a catch, I remember those things at random and sometimes random just works allowing me to throw grandiose memory feats in front of people. Somehow it doesn't bother me in the slightest. In terms of mood swings etc. never happened to me, because I separate memories and feelings about those memories
well I remember lost things or things by trying to remember something that happened close to that event, then I'll line it up or forget it if its not relevant.
The way my memory works is through association. If I forget something and I'm trying to remember it I will think about something very vaguely similar, then something vaguely similar, etc. until I work my way down to the memory, in a way I'm kind of taking advantage of how your brain stores things through neural pathways and I just go down the neural chain until I reach the end. But that's only if I'm actively trying to remember something other wise my mind is just a melting pot of verbal thoughts, memory's, sounds, music, and sensations that bubble to the surface and can be influenced by something I'm looking at but still in an associative sense i.e. I see X I am reminded of Y which then reminds me of Z and so on. side note I'm ADHD, autistic, and on the Aphantasia spectrum (I have a very diminished minds eye, visual things are heavily cast in shadow and very desaturated in my mind). I don't know if I've heard of anyone else's memory working quite this way but I would be interested in learning if anyone else's does.
The way I remember at least at work is by looking at permanent objects around that object i try to find My job is fixing like adapters for connectors for cars and there are a lot of them in a small place So how I remember which one i was working on last is by looking at stuff around it then i have like a picture in my head looking around untill i find something similar then i see it Would be same when im driving i dont remember where the roads to my friends house is But i look around and find stuff that i remember seeing it then i find my way It sucks since stuff changes but thats how i operate sadly
I remember stuff because I'm an anxious person 😂 so it automatically gets planted inside my brain, also I think I have some type of long term memory brain?? Where I can remember stuff pretty well , for example , remembering answers for exam is kinda my thing 😂 helps a lot
It depends? Memory is kind of fickle, normally it's just things I find odd. When it comes to conversational memory I only remember things that are important *to me*. When it comes to events, it's normally an extreme emotional response. Like terror, or awe.
I remember thinking about related the thing. Like I know I forgot to buy something in market I think about what I want to go to the market or what it's over in home. If I forget something I have to do on the day I try remember the things I have to on the month and what's the things I already done.
So remembering is basically braincells, and neurological pathways, being activated through hormones and through the nerve systems ionic responses. But psychologically there are three factors (i believe); repetition, nostalgia and intensity. Wherein repetion lead to activating said braincells more frequently and fluently, Nostalgia is the brain computating feelings from specific scenes and surrounding; transforming it into a memory, and lastly intensity when something is of grave importance or intense, the body produces higher concentrations of adrenaline, which make the brain be able to link more braincells to a specific memory. Obviously I can be wrong on this, but this is my interpretation of memory.
That makes ALOT of sense! My earliest memory was when I was 4 years old, my parents and two younger brothers were in the car coming home from the grocery store, it was REALLY dark, we lived on a small island in the Chesapeake bay and there was very little artificial light. We pull up and our house is surrounded by fire trucks and police cars, lights flashing. My mom and dad got out the car in a hurry and told us to stay in the car. It was like a week after Christmas and our house burnt down. My second earliest memory is going to the ymca with my family. The smell of chlorine as soon as you walk in the building, and how the air felt warm and thick from the humidity when you open the door to enter the pool area!
For me I never really thought about how I remember stuff and honestly I dont. It either stays in my mind or doesnt. Honeztly its basically playing russian roulette sith my memories which might also explain that I barely remember anything before 2/3 years.
I have basically no memory. I've never understood how people can just remember how things happened in such specificity like what year something happened, the day of the week and the times. I operate almost exclusively by intuition. Now this ain't to say I _don't_ remember things. I did an engineering degree so obviously I can remember stuff when I need to, however, I would usually practice something until I gained an intuitive understanding of that thing. Instead of just remembering specific things like an element being number X on the periodic table, instead I have a conceptual understanding of that element having Y protons and X neutrons etc etc, I have a conceptual intuition of it and a feeling for it, each element "feels" a certain way for me, each unique thing has its own feeling to me, similar to the way anything intuitive 'feels'. Some people might remember a picture of the periodic table, or at least where a specific element is, and I don't really have that. I can maybe say it's vaguely at the top and/or the right etc. but my memory just usually doesn't work to have 1:1 memories of things from objective perspectives like visual. This can be a benefit because generating new ideas is fairly easy for me since I just follow my intuition and more often than not I have productive intuitions about my pursuits whether it's theoretical physics, mathematics or chemistry and then those ideas can be verified and tested experimentally. A big factor is possibly that I don't think in my native language, I don't think in any language. I can force myself to think in English but it's a slow process and my normal thought method is much quickert than when I'm thinking in actual words, or with an internal 'voice'. I have something called "unsymbolized thought" (which you should look up Sifd, it's really interesting stuff) So everything I say or write, I have to translate fromy internal flow of consciousness into English. Since learning that most everyone else thinks quite differently from myself I've had an interesting journey of self discovery. I have always believed this has effected my memory in many ways as well because a memory to me is more of a _feeling_ than an image or sets of words or anything like that, and I have to derive specific details and qualities from that feeling, so there's lots of potential for loss of information, however, I have a much easier time attributing some specific things to/from certain memories. Like if there was something I learned in a specific memory, or if I had strong emotions during that time, things like that are extraordinarily clear because memories are more of a feeling thing than a thinking thing for me. Through conscious and deliberate effort I can form a visualization associated with a specific memory, something akin to the concept of a 'mind palace' but for each specific memory I've decided to do so for and I usually do that for an especially useful or meaningful memory The different ways people think and remember things has always fascinated me, especially after learning just how differently people's brain work while thinking and remembering. I've heard of some people who think in music for example some people think in words or pictures etc etc. We really are amazing creatures!
I remember things and tgoughts based on visual clues. for example i can`t remember names but show me a movie and years later ii can tell you what will happen. and that principle happens also with Life events. If there is something catcvhing my eyes in this moment it will be engrained in my memory, and as i got older i started to notice when it happens, it fells like an improved and extended perception, like everything is more vibrant, important and somehow a slight bit slower. it`s a strange feeling, which don`t happen often but if it happens i know that this is a key moment which i will remember the rest of my life
I have a few ways of remembering things either I have to actively want to remember it or I will remember it randomly if I've read it I'll probably remember it there might be a few more ways I also have like a half built mind palace of sorts
For me there is no trigger for memory as far as I can tell. The info either is there ready to use immediately or it’s not there at all. Unsure if it’s relevant but I do have adhd
most things i remember clearly are things that changed my point of view about something or someone or when something that doesn't happen usually happen otherwise you have to really make me remember by saying other thing that happened in the same time
How do I remember things you ask? Well I don’t really remember anything and I have an absolutely useless memory so my answer is very simple, I just don’t remember
But also I have really good memory and I can't explain it but I can literally remember everything that happened in my past like something that happened 20 years ago I can remember crystal clear it's just very strong muscle memory
I really dont know how I remember thing but I kinda remember thing by their connections with other things on my mind which is weird (my mind is a mess of random thoughts)
To clarify what I mean.. I had a TBI when I was 18 I remember everything before that normally but everything since is a blank except the last couple days
I remember thing by making mistake mostly. If I made a mistake I will remember it and never done it again. And even better, if I were to find a solution to my mistake then that I will also remember that solution.
You talking about remembering things by thinking about them but how come there has been a lot of instances of you forgetinf which build you was going for. Specially your brotato videos lol.

Insta nuke build Awesome I recently started playing this cause of you and i already have maxed out all the meta progress i have played it way to much
I can remember anything I can tie to something I already know. Anything that has a cause and effect or a problem I find interesting I also remember easily.
have you not heard that you can memorize a deck of cards through narrative? GREAT TOPIC!!
Heimler's History Teachers channel throws a heck of a perspective at the concepts of remembering
when i listen to music while a certain thing happens, i will always remember it again if i listen to the same song
I dont - memory of a gold fish
I think it depends on your personality type tbh. For me i mostly remember things with visual clues. For example if im driving i remember where to go by remembering positions of trees and stuff like that and if im talking to someone i mostly remember what they are wearing and where we were when it was said
I remember things by linking them to something I wouldn’t forget, I will just make a smaller thing attach to a bigger thing and once I remember it I’ll remember both of them. (Doesn’t work for more than a period of time if it’s isn’t a long term needed memory)
I involuntarily yelled in joy when I saw that Treant's Wreath. Incredible item, since it not only essentially negates all chip damage,
But shield loss isn't health loss, so it doesn't proc Daredevil's max HP reduction,or lose you blood rooms!
Like I'll be having a thought and several other pieces of information will pop up in my head that are relevant to the thought, even though I was never aware I knew all that
I remember things that I can visualize and articulately describe.
-I don't. My memory is garbage. Probably by just letting my mind wander, with it moving from one topic/memory to another related one.
Also for the tracking shuffle thing, I can follow it easy when I'm not actually looking at it directly, but letting it stay on my peripheral.
Idea: crit book summon lazer build
Obviously book summons lazers and the crit bounce spell
(plus whatever crit you can get elsewhere)
I don't remember anything while simultaneously remembering everything. What I mean by this is short term I forget everything against my will most times. Long term if there's any relevancy of it to any topic at hand I just remember it in extremely meticulous vivid detail. (Had already gave this question or topic rather a lot of thought as improving my short term memory would be fantastic still no solution sadly)
Psychology hours with sifd😅
Love it!
My memory is primarly visual and action, but to access those memories are sorta compressed, like until Im doing the thing again my memory is locked to cursory things like Ive done before and people I know, but for like videogame controls I don't really remember them until I play the game again.
15:01 tsk tsk blind sifd not looking for secrets #isawthechest
An easy to track example would be if someone started talking about the artist bob marley my brain makes a relation to his songs and I will remember a few lyrics of them.
i remember far too much about what all happened when I was suddenly sent off to war and what all happened once deployed to theater. =/

My eyes trying to follow the shuffling books...
when you reroll the shop.. with a potion shop on the side.. i think it rerolls the potions.. might be worth checking each reroll for good potions?
About memory
I have somewhat phenomenal memory so I can remember minuscule details of conversation/deed/event and so on.
The way I remember at least at work is by looking at permanent objects around that object i try to find
My job is fixing like adapters for connectors for cars and there are a lot of them in a small place
So how I remember which one i was working on last is by looking at stuff around it then i have like a picture in my head looking around untill i find something similar then i see it
Would be same when im driving i dont remember where the roads to my friends house is
But i look around and find stuff that i remember seeing it then i find my way
It sucks since stuff changes but thats how i operate sadly
For me its the writing of notes and writing of tutorials/instructions. If I do that, I no longer need the notes or instructions anymore...
Same! Like when i tried to cheat at a school test with a note... I wrote the note, but when the test came, I just remembered everything i wrote down!
I remember things by adding connections to previous synaptic networks.
I remember stuff because I'm an anxious person 😂 so it automatically gets planted inside my brain, also I think I have some type of long term memory brain?? Where I can remember stuff pretty well , for example , remembering answers for exam is kinda my thing 😂 helps a lot
Boomba build has arrived. Next station; total victory~
It depends? Memory is kind of fickle, normally it's just things I find odd.
When it comes to conversational memory I only remember things that are important *to me*.
When it comes to events, it's normally an extreme emotional response. Like terror, or awe.
Couldn't the sonic boom wand (triggers with moving distance) work with the spell that gives you an invencible dash? That would be a great build
EXPLOSION!!

lets go another great video
You should do a damage build and see how high u can get to beat the boss fast
For me I never really thought about how I remember stuff and honestly I dont. It either stays in my mind or doesnt. Honeztly its basically playing russian roulette sith my memories which might also explain that I barely remember anything before 2/3 years.
I guess I remember things if something notable or out of the ordinary happened.
I have something called "unsymbolized thought" (which you should look up Sifd, it's really interesting stuff)
So everything I say or write, I have to translate fromy internal flow of consciousness into English.
Through conscious and deliberate effort I can form a visualization associated with a specific memory, something akin to the concept of a 'mind palace' but for each specific memory I've decided to do so for and I usually do that for an especially useful or meaningful memory
The different ways people think and remember things has always fascinated me, especially after learning just how differently people's brain work while thinking and remembering. I've heard of some people who think in music for example some people think in words or pictures etc etc. We really are amazing creatures!
with speed and precision
i lost every traking room i saw in your video. idk if i just became old or this game is a bit too hard for me
I remember things and tgoughts based on visual clues. for example i can`t remember names but show me a movie and years later ii can tell you what will happen. and that principle happens also with Life events.
Unsure if it’s relevant but I do have adhd
most things i remember clearly are things that changed my point of view about something or someone or when something that doesn't happen usually happen otherwise you have to really make me remember by saying other thing that happened in the same time
love your vids bro
If I am passionate about something or it interest me then I easily remember stuff about it
Love your videos
How do I remember things you ask?
Well I don’t really remember anything and I have an absolutely useless memory so my answer is very simple, I just don’t remember
Practice. Memory is a muscle. Exercise it.
40:36 agree
I have lost every single time the books got faster than the first switch which is embarrassing how I am bad at tracking
i love these so much
Mostly I remember memories if others bring it up, otherwise i dont think of memories much.
YYYYYYYYYeeeeeeeesssssssss the butterfly build is coming 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
is the spell sword change shape when given poison spell or lightning spell?
Heluu again
I don't remember things anymore... Thanks physics.
To clarify what I mean..
I had a TBI when I was 18 I remember everything before that normally but everything since is a blank except the last couple days
IF you roll the shop, potions are rerolled too ?
i can barely track the books but it might be a framerate thing
I remember thing by making mistake mostly. If I made a mistake I will remember it and never done it again. And even better, if I were to find a solution to my mistake then that I will also remember that solution.
Booby trap or butterflies next I would love it
I love your videos, but I'm now skipping to the point when the hypothetical/philosophical discussion stops and the video focuses on the game.
I think this philosophical part makes the video much more interesting
You talking about remembering things by thinking about them but how come there has been a lot of instances of you forgetinf which build you was going for. Specially your brotato videos lol.
I remember anything i dreamed
