Tony Coleman, former drummer for B.B. King, plays through “The Thrill Is Gone” off B.B.’s 1969 album “Completely Well”. With smooth grooves and feeling deep in the pocket, Tony proves that you can really move people with rhythm.
About Tony:
Tony Coleman is one of the best blues drummers to ever grace a stage, having toured and recorded with some of the greatest blues and soul artists ever, such as B.B. King, Otis Clay, Bobby Blue Bland, Johnnie Taylor, Albert King, Albert Collins, Etta James, James Cotton, Katie Webster, Z.Z. Hill, O.V. Wright, and Buddy Guy. Besides his illustrious career as a sideman, Tony has also released various solo studio albums over the years, featuring a collection of very special guests.
He’s the author of the book “Authentic Blues Drumming” and currently endorses Mapex, Sabian, Remo, Vater, Audix, and JH Audio.

Derrick Stallworth , you misunderstood what I wrote in the previous answer. I simply meant to say that it is a pleasure to see and listen to drummers like Tony Coleman, Steve Jordan or Jeff Porcaro who play solid grooves instead of those that perform all the time figures rich in technical difficulty, solos and special effects. Personally, I don't like to see the drums in the center of attention and the music in the background. In this video, the music that is the master wins.

“Completely Well” is my favorite B.B. album because it was my dad’s favorite. The playing from front to end on that album is just excellent. I always recommend it.

I set at a bar in Greenville Ms with this guy and smoked a cigarette and thumped the ashes into a tunafish can. I had no idea who he was..we were watching T-model Ford. The Bait Shop....he had this fucking glow.
