In jobs I've done where there was no ventilation I've tried in the past to use a box fan with a home furnace filter taped to it to such up the dust. Hope that helps and love your work ethic. You guys are great.

Most articulate plumber/contractors ever!!! No more wasting time searching for answers! Great job ever! Love a detailed job. I just gave a plumber a hard time for trying to do half_a__ job at my house..he ended up wanting to shake my hand! He knew I knew better and forced him to do a correct job, even loaned him my tools to cut sheetrock, barked at him for trying not to deburr pvc pipe joints etc. I won. Got the job done right. I earned his respect but would rather have someone like you for all my trade jobs!

Great video as usual. You could have installed blocking between your studs (easier said than done in some cases with plumbing in the way) and ended the drywall at that blocking and then started the tub deck at that blocking. It creates the fire resistant envelope that code typically looks for.

  • @lsatenstein

I would not have spent the time as you did for cutting the shapes out of the drywall. I would make a reasonable cutout, and after nailing, use the insect foam spray, I would fill in the gaps. That make the fitting as snug as a bug in a rug, and saves time. I do not want the drywall tight against pipes (squeeking noise possible if there is pipe expansion/contraction against drywall edge).

If there is one thing I love about the way Paul and Jordan work, it's that despite his years of experience, Paul still insists on wearing all the proper PPE. Despite his experience, he doesn't have the mindset of "That stuff is for rookies." I see too many experienced tradesmen who think they don't need to wear it.

I LOVE doing these types of projects.
The "forensic" work first of what went wrong, then the endless possibilities & excitement of the rebuilding phase.
Not to mention watching my husband create a beautiful new structure that improves our lives on the daily basis.
.....even if most of my job is being the "gopher". (Go get me this, go fetch me that, go for this & that for me 🤣)
But usually it's my ideas & inspiration from these types of videos that I share with him, get him inspired with it too, and once we're working on the new project & the inevitable problems arise, being the one who doesn't always know the technical knowhow or proper ways to do things in the moment, I make suggestions in the form of questions that help get him thinking in a different perspective to solve the issue we're currently faced with.
    😸😁🤗😸🤗😁
Btw, I'm in the middle of getting a kitchen sink of my very own for the first time ever!! I've been using the laundry tub that currently only has the hot water knob working on it and the washing machine discharge pipe held in place with a wood clamp on the side of the tub that juts out to the middle, middle of the laundry tub to do dishes in a plastic tote bin.
For example, I'm tired of escorting a hot pot of pasta & water through the house, opening & closing doors in my path, just to drain the pasta in the laundry tub granted I remembered to take the strainer with me on the first trip, only to return to the original room to finish making dinner, and then retrace my steps afterwards to finally wash all my dirty dishes in thee only-hot water with the laundry discharge pipe in my way laundry tub. And doing dishes while laundry is running, yikes! I cannot have laundry water mixing with my dish water.... 😬😖 Not good!
I'm SOOOOO excited!!! My very own sink in my tiny little "apartment" kitchen!! With both hot AND cold water that I can control the temperature of!! I can't hardly wait for it to be functional!
It should be at minimum draining into a a bucket that I'll have to dump by the end of this weekend! But I'll at least have running water, in a small double sink, that's got both hot AND cold water supply, in my own little kitchen where I can keep up with dishes AND babysit dinner cooking at the same time! 😁😁😁😁😁

    • @StudPack

Or customer doesn't have it in the budget... Most jobs aren't budgeted for anything past the customers thought of a final look, not the Mountains of problems that come into play like 100% of the time...
Plus as a contractor or anyone doing this work would never want to be responsible for water when you don't need to, cutting into a water line now leaves the burden on you to leave it the way it was before you...
Better not to touch water lines if you don't have to...

Here is a trick that I use for hardwood slatted floors. Either before laying or perphaps after a repair or sanding, I soak a rag in strong vinegar and wet the hardwood, ANTS DO NOT LIKE VINEGAR. Here in Montreal, ants will learn that a breadcrumb, a particle of cake, fell onto that hardwood. Within an hour, there will be a swarm of those pesky brown insects. Vinegar helps to keep them away.

If you hold the hammer drill/demo hammer upside-down you can chip up much bigger chunks of tile and use it on full speed without worry of digging into the slab since the angle is not nearly as aggressive.

I would suggest self leveling compound, but make sure to read the manufacturers’ recommendations on how deep you can pour it. Some spots may be too deep and I would use feather finish by Henry before the self leveling compound to fill those spots.
Also, make sure to use appropriate primer before pouring self leveling compound!
    Hope that helps.

      @StudPack  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

That window is fixed. I seriously considered removing it for exhaust/trash removal but the flange is buried behind the brick veneer. There is zero ventilation back there. We're trying to contain the dust so it doesn't spread. The area outside the bathroom and then halfway to the front door has just been remodeled due to a sewer overflow... insurance claim, asbestos remediation, etc. The owner's have really been thru it lately. We damp mop the new reclaimed pine floors every evening, have set up an air lock basically to enter the project. Most of the mess is behind us know thank goodness.
