I loved the way the opening scene had the man and Daniel anointing the lamb with oil, and then the parallel with Mary anointing Jesus's feet. The Lamb of God.
i got a little choked up at jesus weeping and Jesus embracing His mother and letting her know its not going to be easy. but this moment is what got a tear from me. just thankfulness for her being shown to have a great faith but also feeling a little challenged/guilty to be more like her. With this scene and that scene from previous episode where Jesus tells she is listening and understanding. I want to listen and understand better and put my thoughts more on Jesus. I feel like I would have acted more like the many apostles and pondering/dreaming/debating what this could mean for me and for the world
Jesus weeping actually shook me because I’ve read it in John 11:35 but when it’s portrayed on the screen it hit different for me. Made me realize God cries too.
The time and patience the creators took to prep for Jesus triumphant entry into Jerusalem at the end of Ep 8 was so powerful! Season 5 is going to be so impactful!👍🏽
@@loulem9927And making Jesus truly alive in Roumie’s portrayal will, unfortunately, make the trial and execution that much more gut wrenching and difficult to watch!😢🙏🏽
The thing my husband brought out from the story is Lazarus was totally covered from head to toe! How could he know how to get out of the tomb without hitting walls etc? HE CAME OUT BECAUSE HE COULD HEAR JESUS VOICE! JESUS VOICE GAVE HIM THE DIRECTION!!
I was crying and sobbing for almost the entire time of E7. So many thoughts from Scripture flooded my mind. Masterful work/ministry by The Chosen team.
Just got home from watching the season finale. Mary's scene totally melted my heart for the Lord. When I saw that actress introduced in season 3, I knew she was going to portray this scene wonderfully. I knew she was the actress for the roll. Loved the last shot of Jesus ridding the colt powerfully, with authority and proudly. He is God after all.❤
I had always understood the anointing of Jesus' feet as preparing him for burial, but paralleling it to the anointing of the passover lamb's feet hit deep. I watched the finale last night and have been randomly thinking about it and tearing up all day. Little awkward at work. 😅 Did anyone else notice that the stable hand that Z and Matthew ran into was hanging out at the back of the Lazarus' resurection crowd trying to hide his face and looking a little suspicious. The whole time I was thinking "Who are you and what are you up too?" Then he showed up at the stable and I knew. "You want us to borrow a burro?" 😂 I love Matthew.
I loved and appreciated how Mary tarried behind, walking up to, and looking in the tomb. That is what my personality would of done. I also loved how before the show started, Dallas explained how Jesus was frustrated because His Apostles were not understanding. Dallas then said, "Lean into the words of Jesus. Focus on what He says!" Awe.....such a powerful show! I got home, and immediately opened my Bible to re-read the beautiful red words of Jesus. ❤️
Saw it two nights ago. Wow, so good. Really like the way this is unfolding. Are we losing Shmuel again? Ugh, just like Yeshua said to Nicodemus, "you came so close."
I’m so glad you mentioned how they portrayed the disciples getting the colt. I loved how they played up the drama of that scene, connected it to Zechariah, and followed up with the guy running around telling everyone Jesus was coming. The whole buildup to the Triumphal entry was great. There were several parts like this where the writers made connections or juxtaposed characters that enhanced the drama of the scene. Like having Shmuel at the anointing at Bethany which resulted in him turning away from Jesus, or how Mary goes to purchase oil with the money Lazarus left out of gratitude for what Jesus did (I never thought of that!), or of course how the raising of Lazarus scene foreshadows Jesus’ own resurrection. Bravo to the writers.
My husband and I have enjoyed the time to go to the theaters which we don’t do and cry and finish scripture during this season. For that I give Yahuah Tseva’oth the honor and glory for allowing families / households the opportunity to travel to and from the establishments in peace. What really caught my attention these episodes was mother Mary and her faithfulness and stillness watching the Messiah and the first fruit of her loins.. powerful and well played by the actress! The chosen is beloved due to imagination and portraying of cultural context. ❤YAH all Shalom Shalom
Yes, I think my favorite was Mary annointing Jesus for burial, but there was so much that was good! It is sad seeing Judas turning, even though I know he's going to!
Episodes 7 & 8 were phenomenally done. From the 'What's going on here, who is this?' opening for E7 to the final frame of E8 ... masterfully written and presented. The believability of the 'extra biblical' interactions have really helped me connect with the humanity of not just Yeshua, but all the characters. I'm SO looking forward to your deeper discussions for each episode. Sooooon!
Saw season 4 in the theater and it was wonderful on the big screen. Beautifully cinematic and yet intimate in it's telling. As a born and raised Catholic the series came to life for me in a way I'd never thought possible. Will now read scripture! Thanks to all, from inception to conclusion. Blessings.
Thanks so much Sam and Dr. Tom for your reviews; always so good. Saw 7 and 8 last night and going tomorrow too. I heard a comment from someone about how good Joey's performance was and I agree, wow he did an amazing job portraying Thomas's frustration! Looking forward to your review of the entire season. God Bless!
Bless Thomas! He's angry, understandably, and just can't see the goodness right before his eyes. I had hoped they'd resolve this before the end of episode 8.
@@julieclark9173 I expect that Thomas will get it after the Resurrection, and still not right away, the others told him that Jesus has risen, but he didn't believe, he said he needs to put his fingers into His wounds to believe..later they meet and Jesus lets Thomas perform this test and Thomas sais "My Lord and my God!"
I feel ep 7 is the best of the series to date. I shed a few tears during that one. So real with how the disciples were struggling with everything that was going on.
In the gospels there were two different women who did this. The one who broke the box with expensive perfume and oils, the one we were to remember is not Mary of Bethany. If anything she is unnamed. Just listed as a woman who was a sinner. This is in Luke and happened at Simon the Pharisee's house. Mary of Bethany anointed his feet in John 12. But this was a separate occasion and different, it was in Bethany after Jesus had raised Lazarus.

I just came home from the theatre watching E6 & E7. Thank you for your reviews I agree, awesome! I also liked King David. This whole season 4 has been GREAT! The Chosen is appropriate for such a time as this in the World ✝
Love you guys, the way you talk everything out...and explain it so I can understand what the Bible is really saying...I've read the Bible, but I still don't understand alot of it. I really don't know how to begin to even learn how...all I know is that Jesus came and died for all of us, his death alone covers our sins and we are saved by the mercy and grace of our lord...
When it comes to the shame thing, especially with what I struggle with, I have to view it as guilt vs. shame. That helps me to distinguish conviction vs toxic shame which drags me down sometimes even farther in that spiral and into more sin. That scene was awesome and was one of my favorites of the whole season!
Mary was so thankful to Jesus for raising Lazarus. She wanted to do something so extravagant, and she did it. Not just incredibly expensive oil, but the humility as well. In front of all those people she just interrupts it all, and drops to her knees, pours out the oil and wipes His feet with her hair, and weeps over Him. Wow! And we do remember her all these years later.
@@sherribrtn Thank you for the truth in love. I've learned over the course of my Christian walk just how difficult it is. It's not all sunshine and rainbows. Anointing the feet of Jesus with perfume (an oil)......anointing the feet of the year old lamb....and He lived with us for five days before the Sacrifice.....
Was it part of the preparation of the sacrifical lamb to annoint the legs and feet? The chosen shows King David doing that and Laz was asked if he had annointed his lamb to bring it in and then of course it shows Mary annointing the feet of Jesus. Also, there were 2 confirmations for the lamb, annointing the feet and and then confirming the perfect lamb 2 days before sacrificing and the comparison to Jesus' annointing his feet and Pilot confirming "I see nothing wrong this man has done" before he is sacrificed. One more question. Why am i at the point of tears and so broken hearted thinking about this? God is so incredibly detailed in getting his " point" across to be so crystal clear. he doesn't miss anything.
I perceived Lazarus as raised from the dead, and brought back to this life, but he is not a resurrection in the sense that he will die again, and then raised on the last day by Jesus resurrection.
It seems obvious to me through several clues in the dialogue and the nature of their interaction that Schmuel is Saul of Tarsus. Perhaps I am reading too much into the conversation, but if you rewatch it with the idea that he is Saul, then it is a fascinating exchange indeed.😎
Guys, this Livestream was so awesome!! Here in Mexico 🇲🇽 we just watched only episodes 1 & 2; so, it is a long wait ahead. But anyway it is so cool to hear you 🎉 Thank you, and God bless.
I have been watching grafted for a few years now, and I enjoy it very much. I signed up for your college course a couple of years ago, but my schedule at the time didn’t work to watch it and participate. I understand I always will have all of that. I am not sure where to find it on my phone, and I can’t find your email 😅address. I know I saw it, but I can’t find it now. I don’t want to put personal information on a message.
I'm glad that the Chosen is portraying Jesus as a real and emotional person. He was human as well as God, but so many of us tend to picture him as just saying words in a stoic fashion with not much emotion except probably when He was cleansing the Temple or at his crucifixion or when "Jesus wept".
I'm just like Thomas. I can see Him turn water to wine...heal the leper...feed the 5,000...walk on water and raise the dead...and I still focus on my self. Romans 7:24-25
I don't know that it would be a good idea. Just me, but I think it would, a: take away from the expanse of it all. b: draw the emotions away from Jesus.
@lukewilliams448 .... Jesus was 'The Gift'. Besides, what you stated is not Scriptural at all, and though Dallas adds or tweaks certain things, having Thomas marrying would change the whole Biblical Truth, concerning The Disciples, and take away, what Jesus did. Sorry, but adding the resurrection of Ramah would be more than contrary to The Gospel.
I loved the way the opening scene had the man and Daniel anointing the lamb with oil, and then the parallel with Mary anointing Jesus's feet. The Lamb of God.
That was King David anointing the lamb with Daniel.

@@kdhander I hope so! It's not too late until we draw our last breath!
Yes, they all smelled his death initially so I’m sure that was sensory overload that added to the shock of him suddenly walking towards them.
That’s exactly what went through my mind! That Judas would dig up the sun dial that he saw Thomas bury, then sell it. 😀
Email us at hello@grafted.family and we'd be happy to help you!
Looks likw Schmuel went back to the sark side after coming so close to following Jesus.
When Jesus told the disciples to get the colt 🐴my heart shattered. 💔 I think I will be crying through most of seasons 5 and 6. 😭
I guess when Johnathan Roumie raised his hand, there was a wind tornado that came up and it shocked everyone.
So I wonder if Ramah will be one of the people raised to life after Jesus resurrected??? Plausible???
Wow. I hadn’t thought about that.
Interesting. Hadn’t thought of that.
I don't know that it would be a good idea.
Just me, but I think it would,
a: take away from the expanse of it all.
b: draw the emotions away from Jesus.
I think that’s a possibility…. But after their resurrection did they continue to live or did they ascend…
